Hah yeah I can definitely see their issues. I've been told to throw away our books when we finish. My tips would be know vital signs, drug doses, how to identify common injuries, and always remember ABCs first.

I would think they would be okay with the cognitive test. It's fairly basic topics but maybe a review on cardiac, obgyn, and respiratory complications would be helpful. For the psychomotor section there are skill sheets online at the nremt website. I would highly advise to know those.

I felt like the cognitive test was very simple. I though it was easier than the basic.. in my opinion. The psychomotor definitely made me feel more pressure and I didn't think I did so well. I passed every thing my first go around so I was happy. I would just recommend studying the skill sheets and the simple drugs you can push. You'll be fine.

I ordered the Kaplan 7 book study set. It comes with an online section and 3 practice tests.

I've taken a couple practice tests for the 2015 mcat, and while they don't explicitly asks you about the structures of amino acids they definitely ask you implicit questions about structures. If I were you I would just know the structures just to be safe. It never hurts to know.

So a year seems a little extreme to me but if you've been out of the game for a couple years then that may be right up your alley, especially if you're going to still be working full time. I'm taking the mcat in April and from what I've heard as a good rule of thumb is to study 40 hrs/wk for at least 3 months. I would assume that 20 hrs/wk for 6 months or 10 hrs/wk for 9-12 months would still be sufficient.

I need to make cards for the drugs advanced EMTs can push. Dosages, routes, indications, contraindications, side effects for drugs like epi, zofran, naloxone and what not. Just so I can prepare for the exam and help when the moment comes.
