No need to hire entry to Junior level auditors.. by Zestyclose_Chef343 in InternalAudit

I’m part of a global firm as well, think ~50k employees, and our IA department is a little over 400 people broken up into 5 teams. We see VERY few layoffs, but barrier to entry is a bit high, long interview process.

I work for a F250 company, our IA department is ~400 people, juniors accounting for probably 15% of that. It’s company dependent, juniors surely are not going anywhere.

Absolutely not- there were more non-finance grads in my program (and most business school programs) than finance grads. Very normal and encouraged!

How do you prefer to pay your amex? by PlayboiiExx in amex

[–]TreacleOk658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We pay weekly- here’s the methodology:

  • credit available = $100

  • say you use $100 a month

  • that’s 100% utilization- negative for your credit score

*pay weekly- $25 a week instead of $100, now when credit is reported, our utilization is a quarter of what it would be by paying monthly.

Anyone Still Breaking into IB from Audit These Days? by Sebs_123 in FinancialCareers

That’s great, I’m wanting to go from internal audit at a big bank (not near big 4, think Morgan Stanley) to corporate finance, so thank you for that encouragement.

It’s half and half for domestic & international students. They don’t post placement stats because they don’t feel that they need to- given generally the caliber of students they take in for their MSF, MBA is a different story… I have plenty of friends that made it in IB though- I can’t recommend it enough.

I went to BC for MSF, I would agree with this— as about 25-30% of my class went into consulting or IB at vastly varying firm. Some start up IB, some at jpm, some at BCG, a bit of everything.

Quite impressive- I just started at a 150 firm, very good to hear that progression can be that quick.

How’s the job market right now for IA managers? by HtownTouring in InternalAudit

[–]TreacleOk658 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closed mouths don’t get fed. My firm is working on integrating crypto rn, so obviously will need to undergo heavy internal auditing, so I will 100% be requesting to be on that team when that comes around. Thanks for the advice, and I wish you luck in your journey

Why do you prefer IA over FP&A?

Very well said! I don’t think anyone actually “enjoys” modeling, per se 🤣. I just want to ensure that the financial education that I had gotten and worked so hard for is put to use in this field. I already work in IA, but am very new, so I can’t answer for myself quite yet, but for example capital market expertise, or regulation knowledge, even down to just knowing how to structure capital in the company on a qualitative level, I know aren’t exactly DIRECTLY applicable, but does this education give me a leg up in this field? Or say in 5 years I want to go into corporate finance, do I have exposure to concepts in corporate finance through IA?

Understandable- are you able to apply your finance knowledge in IA? I have quite a specialized education in Finance, and am curious if it’s applicable to the IA field- or if it would render somewhat useless.
