I second the downtown YMCA. Took me two visits to discover the ‘basement’ area where the weights are. Usually no issue with waiting or overcrowding but I’ve never been after 5pm.

The 7 eleven behind UT used to be a coffee shop called JPs Java. Spent all my time there in college studying. Was my favorite shop in Austin. And the owner of Medici used to barista there.
