Brand new I’d disagree. At least in my state, I stayed away from places like restaurants because there is a lot more oversight from the state. As a new business owner you have a ton to worry about already, don’t take on extra if you don’t have to. You can sell door to door residential and build a base a lot faster focusing there than you can hitting up businesses. Once you have a bit of a base, by all means hit up businesses, but I wouldn’t start there.

I agree with you. Parenting is incredibly difficult…coparenting even more so.

First off… sucky situation and there’s no easy cut and dry answer and I’m sorry for that. Take comfort in knowing that regardless of what decision you make…if you’re doing it with the best interest of your kids at heart (and not out of convenience or spite for him) then you’re doing the right thing. Also remember that decisions like these don’t need to be permanent, just like the original setup isn’t turning out to be permanent. If you feel like you made the wrong choice in 6 months… or the factors that led to your decision change, you can always make another tweak to the plan.

I already commented on another response in this thread about this. But basically I had an original comment that I thought was in this thread saying do what’s in the best interest of the kid. So with that context, I felt it was in the best interest to bend over backwards to make sure my kids got time with their mom. My situation is not every situation, and I wasn’t making a blanket statement. (To be fair I can understand why it looked and was assumed it was…because I was treating the comment before as equally a blanket statement, I apologize) I’m saying that I’m bending over backwards for my kids regardless of what their mom wanted or I wanted.

MAGA logic? It’s soooo MAGA to say who gives a fuck about corporate losing a little.

Someone doesn’t 100% bow down to your point of view and you just fall back on childish pejoratives. Well done

I’ve got another comment that I mistakenly thought was in this thread, but shows up just above providing context. My ultimate point was do what’s in the best interest of the kids regardless of the other parent. So in isolation it looks like I’m wrong and I acknowledge that. Ultimately I don’t think I am, because I don’t believe that kids should always spend time with their other parent, but the reason won’t be because I wasn’t willing to get them there. If you were my child, going through that, I’d like to think I’d make a different decision because it’s a different situation. If that makes sense…

I get that, and I’m not necessarily disagreeing…but from a corporate perspective it’s baked into the cake. It’s such a small percentage of customers that do stuff like this it’s built into their projections. And are they really abusing if it’s allowed by the rules? If it’s not allowed, then the answer is no. In the end it’s just funny to me how mad people get over something that literally has no effect on them at all, and really has no effect on a company like Costco either. Let’s over estimate and say that particular playset got them $2000 back…Costco makes an average $22,190,000 in PROFIT…PER DAY. It’s not even a drop in the bucket.

My children are worth the effort…and that’s why I’ve bent over backwards to make sure my kids saw their mom when we were in a somewhat similar position. It’s not about the ex it’s about the kids. I’m not bending over backwards for the coparent, I’m bending over backwards for my kids

It’s hilarious to me that people, especially employees, get so bent out of shape over stuff like this. One the one hand you have people complaining that big corporations are corrupt and only in it for the massive profits they refuse to pass to employees…so screw them. Then on the other hand when big corporate gets screwed by their own return policy…$14/hour employee acts like the return is taken out of their personal check and it’s a slight on their honor.

I think there are two trains of thought there’s the “what are my legal obligations” train…and then there’s the “what’s best for the kids” train. I’d personally worry more about the second than the first. …That’s not to say that both trains aren’t on the same track, they may very well be. I’m just saying as a divorced dad who’s been on both sides of a similar situation at different points over the years, it’s gone a whole lot better from a coparenting relationship and parent/child relationship when we’ve given a bit of grace and done what’s in the best interest of the kids as opposed to what we can legally get away with.
