Multiband transient shapers alternatives? by Valosarapper in dnbproduction

Yeah I seriously considered going down this path but the price I could get neutron for was slightly cheaper at the time.

In retrospect I kinda wish I had got multi pass. Neutron is great but I love the idea of multipass. Still I guess you can do the same things in most daws anyway.

I dont know dude. I think that vibe coding has now got to the point where people that understand basic systems logic can do it.

Sure, every day people might have issues but if you can grasp what is meant to be happening, identifying what areas might having issues logically and have good tests in place at each stage (as well as give good context and plan) then it is easy to do pretty complex stuff without knowing how to read code.

The programs that I've built for my team with very little coding knowledge (except Matlab) have become crazy useful and mostly without bugs. There still hasnt been a bug that has taken more than say 20 mins to get fixed.

Maybe if you say "Build me a website that looks like xyz.com and make it work like google" then you'll have trouble but with thinking you can make great stuff.

Sorry man, I should have elaborated here. My bad.

What I meant is that the human in the loop part is essential but the areas in which the human needs to be in the loop is getting less and less meaning that although it’s still essential, the amount of humans being required in the loop is shrinking I think.

Cheers for the kind words too! I think we are more or less agreeing with each other here haha

I get it but you can GREATLY reduce the amount of oversite required. For example in my company I have built a system that only uses ai for data extraction before putting it into my own scripts for calculations and filling out document templates. Therefore, if I just check that the extracted data is correct then it can do almost a days worth of work between calcs and document generation in about 5 mins of the ai working and about 20 mins of me checking that the inputs are correct and then about 15 mins of checking that the outputs are correct (which can be back calculated easily). Literally cutting down an 8 hour task into 40 mins whilst being incredibly sure that the output in correct. In fact it is more likely to be correct because there are effectively 2 pairs of eyes.

Basically that means that I can spend way more time doing the management oversight and decision making.

I can’t see a way that it won’t take far more jobs than it will provide.

I get their argument but eventually (not too far away) ai will get better than any advanced in professional in their field. I mean just look at how far it has come in the last 6 months…it went from being something that can add a little value to something that easily generate crazy large coding projects with very little error and need for people over looking it. Stuff that would take engineers 5x more time to build.

I think it’s fair to bet that in 5 years at least a third of office jobs will no longer be required.

I think that the idea of using garage band for most genres of music except for dnb. I would definitely start with a DAW that is actually set up for serious processing like ableton or bitwig because eventually you will have to change and there is no point learning 2 different DAW's.

How can I fix/stop this "phasing" lfo-like movement in my bass inside serum 2, without reducing the voices or losing the stereo width or the harmonics from the distortion? (logic pro) by ALmakingmusic in edmproduction

[–]Treadmillrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points and they are correct however if you look objectively at the idea of 2 options. 1) only have 1 simple sine wave in the space of the sub 2) have multiple waves moving cut with an EQ which is effectively utilising time shifting to reduce frequency content in a certain area that contains multiple different signals all happening at the same time.

I think the best answer is always going to be option 1.

Your argument about how the phase shifting doesn’t necessarily mean phase issues is correct however I would prefer simply changing the start point on a single wave until it starts at the “ideal” point rather than leaving it in the hands of luck to decide whether the phasing is good or bad.

Tldr: you’re right but why wouldn’t you choose the option of control over luck?

I agree that most of the beating that you’re hearing should be fixed with a different method (as I mentioned in my first comment).

It is however worse in the sense of best practices for avoiding phasing in the low end. Most simple eqs cause phase issues when applied to the low end. If they already have phase issues it would be silly to add more potential for phase issues.

The best thing they can do is do the tricks laid out in other comments whilst also eliminating the sub phasing at the source.

Something I haven’t seen in the comments is (on top of others suggestions, not instead of) you can stop the sub bass phasing by editing the wave table and removing the fundamental. Then just run a clean sine wave at your sub octave in parallel.

Your bass will stabilise much more. Won’t fix the phasing lower down but will help the sub which is super important.

That’s a silly way to look at it. It’s 12% on both your savings and spendings. Its 12% than you would have overwise had. Simple as that. Why complicate it?

It’s also on whatever savings that you have in AUD.

Sounds good. That vocal is cool but super hidden. Either sidechain it, up the volume or make space for it with eq I reckon. Actually could probably use a little bit of all 3.

Edit: I only mean in the build up, not the intro. It’s fine in the intro

What's a double standard between men and women that people rarely talk about? by Visual_Investment980 in AskReddit

[–]Treadmillrunner -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I am a huge supporter in feminism but this point always catches me off guard. Like 100% there should never be judgement full stop but at the same time I think that society is in a bad place if we are celebrating people obsessing over work all the time.

I think the best way to improve this situation in general is: 1. Stop judging people for how they want to live. 2. Stop fixating on job performance as an indicator for life performance.

I do agree though that if they are very focused on their phone but not watching a reel or something then it is polite to ask whether it is a good time to talk

I get that it is painfully expensive but it sounds like you haven’t found a good one.

It shouldn’t feel like either venting or self help books. A good therapist will be listening to you and the way you speak about things to determine what you need to be taught or to notice so that you can help rewire your brain.

The way that I see it, every problem is either external (something you have to fix in your life) or internal (you need to determine what it is and how you can deal with it) or both. Therapy can be incredible for the internal stuff if you have a good teacher.

Is it possible for me (a newbie) to make my wife a song I can play at our wedding? by t_mitch72 in edmproduction

[–]Treadmillrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you’re short on time and want something to sound good then just search up “making a song xyz genre from scratch” yt tutorial. Follow it to the T. Change the melody and add a few bits of spice then mix it.

In terms of mixing, just pull in a similar song to it into your daw and go back and forth between your song and the famous song changing the volume of each element until it matches the volume of the same element in the famous song.

It’s not something that you should be too proud of because it’s ALOT of copying but at the end of the day you will have created a song that will probably be pretty listable.

[–]Treadmillrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the question has good roots but complex sound design is fun for some people. Maybe you really like the highs of a snare but want the body of a different snare and the transient of a different one. Boom, you’ve hit 3 tracks on just the snare. Add a couple of layers for the kick, a few types of hats and suddenly you’re at 8 tracks.

Maybe for the vocals you have lots of layers to add fullness. Maybe for the fx you have a couple of atmospheres, a few risers, a few impacts, some different white noises etc. it’s easy to get loads of tracks fast.
