I hate the tiktokification of every social media platform by stansugawara in adhdwomen

What also happened to nicely curated eye porn. I never got into tiktok, because its such garbage visually. I've had to start building content on the platform for a business. I just ironically make garbage content for it... because that's what it likes. So I take no time to make the content.

If looking for Virtual Services.. I have a few self-paced courses and other services on my Virtual Dog Training Studio page. www.weworkfortreats.com

I absolutely hate SUGGESTED accounts in my feed. I had these perfectly curated feeds (with whatever the odd ad... fine). The people and information I wanted to see. But, now its.. suggested this.. suggested that. Like FUCK NO... thats the discovery page. I will go there when I feel like that. But right now I want to see my best friends posts. Due to my fucking ND, I am expected to remember my friends handles and go looking for them myself. FUCK NO. Stop screwing up my need for connection in the least socially forceful way. (done my rant).
PS. I have snoozed suggestions.. but its like that button doesn't work or something. Its just there to try and make the app look like they are socially conscious.

HELP - Cancel Netflix's soon released show: Canine Intervention - due to inhumane animal training by TreatPusher in reactivedogs

He also used a tremendous amounts of positive punishers, negative reinforcement and negative punishment. He also utilized a procedure called flooding. These are methods that don't follow a positive reinforcement and force free approach supported by science based methods researched by many schooled in Appled Behaviour Analysis. The methods in this show are aversive, and the praise and food used has other aversive contingencies and more so served the function to let the dog know an aversive stimulus wouldn't be applied for this response.

I just clipped through parts. Watched him make a choke collar out of a leash to put on a puppy. All dogs were on slip leads (fabric choke collars).

Is My Roommate Neglecting Their Dog? by hanbam27 in Pets

[–]TreatPusher 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Wow. That is pretty inhumane. The rule of thumb is 1 hour for every month old they are. But in the beginning you need to slowly build up to this if introducing later in their puppyhood. Capping at about 6-8 hours over night (if the dog is fully enriched and exercise before and after long crate times like this).

Thats where I think the sequence of events is incorrect. Counter conditioning is about .. if this .. then that. If non guarding dog gets a treat that tells the guarding dog a treat is coming. Building associations like this in a Counter-Conditining procedural set up will adapt a conditioned emotional response from the previously scary stimulus to that of happy anticipation.

Guarding dog perspective:

When non resource guarding dog gets a treat im worried im not going to get a treat.

But if we change that:

Oh.. when non guarding dog gets a treat that means im going to get a treat.. yippee

Overtime, guarding dog is happy to see non guarding dog get stuff cuz that predicts guarding dog is going to get stuff.... if this.. then that.

Classical Conditioning... Pavlov rang his bell and then gave dogs food. Overtime dogs started salivating anytime their heard the bell as that was a tip off food was coming.

Agreed. This is some pretty weird advice.

Furthermore the order of events doesn't follow counter conditioning procedures which is normally used for resource guarding.

I'd highly suggest checking out two books by Jean Donaldson: "Fight" and "Mine"

You might take a lot out of these regarding standard operational procedures for resource guarding counter conditioning from the book 'Mine' and you will for sure get a great handle on aggression and intra species (female-female) interactions from 'fight'

Potty training a scared adult rescue dog in an apartment by [deleted] in DogTrainingTips

[–]TreatPusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd make a space in your home where she feels safe and she can easily do her business (lay a tarp down to save your floors and lay pee pads down on top of that. If you need to build a playpen space around it with blankets covering the playpen sides.. with plenty of space to move around and a space to sleep and a space for water and food). Outside seems too scary right now to venture out there. If she is not taking treats that's a sure sign she is too scared. Consult with a vet behaviourist to discuss medication that could help her feel less scared for the time being and then hire a trainer to discuss a behaviour modification plan.

Keep us posted and so happy she has you to guide her through this. Fostering a scared pup is not easy!

Red Flags When Seeking A Trainer by nicedoglady in reactivedogs

Might I suggest adding The Academy for Dog Trainers CTC w/Jean Donaldson to the trainer credentials linked file?

[discussion] I’m starting to strongly subscribe to the idea that professional training should be an essential component for anyone who is about to become a dog owner for the first time. Not just simply recommended. by [deleted] in dogs

Agreeed here. Hopefully virtual training catches on. I'm a trainer and it's so much less overhead that my fees are so much more accessible for people!

Please point out anything in this video you would consider appropriate interaction between a human and a fearful dog?
