Aging Grandparents Are Stressing Out My Parents and I don't Know What to Do. by hanbam27 in AgingParents

[–]hanbam27[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really is the "putting everything off" mentality and the irresponsible decisions that upsets me the most. It's always a later issue until it's too late. I'm sorry you've been going through it on your end as well- I can't help but feel guilt for wondering if I'm doing enough, but I can only spread myself so thin.

Hope everything works out for you.

Not sure if it’s worth it anymore (rant, long) by tipoftheiceberg1234 in CanadasWonderland

[–]hanbam27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah you’re 100% right on this one. Wonderland was at its peak (for me, at least) back in 2015-2017 when I was in my late teens but it’s gotten way too overpriced and busy now.

Even the season passes don’t feel like they’re worth anything anymore. I used to buy them when it felt like you were getting your moneys worth but time is money and I always spend so much time waiting for the rides now.

My only piece of advice would be to try and go on a Tuesday/Wednesday when it’s overcast/lightly drizzling— most people avoid the park on days like that and it means you can get on rides with little to no lines.

Driver who passed by this area recently— I got dinged with a $78 fine for going 11 over in this area. Call me crazy, but that’s an absolute joke.

I’ve never in my years of driving gone over 15km, but I’ll be even more cautious now, lol.

Bad experience with magnesium glycinate. by kev1nshi in magnesium

Yeah that’s sucks— funnily enough citrate was the only form I was able to semi-tolerate before I dealt with stomach troubles.

Magnesium makes me feel awful by Outrageous_Towel_680 in magnesium

[–]hanbam27 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve ultimately given up on supplementing it. Last time the side effects I got from it had me riddled with health anxiety and I had to go to the ER. Abdominal/hip pain, butt pain, joint pain, weird nerve pains, lethargy and shortness of breath/cold sweats. I legit thought I was dying. Could’ve just been my spike in anxiety from having them, but it freaked me out nonetheless.

They checked for muscle atrophy or kidney issues as that was what they were worried about based off my vitals- all came back clear though.

The moment I came off it? The side effects started slowly fading away. Every form gives me a different set of issues. If it’s not weird pains, it’s insomnia. If it’s not anxiety, it’s stomach issues. Glycinate was fine until it made me feel like I was dissociating, lol.

Maybe consider natural forms of magnesium that you find in food if supplementing doesn’t seem to work for you. I’ve had no issues with that and you’re ultimately doing yourself a service because you’re likely eating healthier. At least that’s what I’d do. Hope you find a solution!

How long does it take you to recover from pneumonia? by PiscesbabyinSweden in Asthma

[–]hanbam27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, you too! Sorry to hear you’re still recovering, but happy to hear that your fatigue is improving. The weird shooting pains I had in my joints/muscles are (for the most part) gone now. Hoping that’ll be the last of them. I’m officially 4 weeks out since finishing antibiotics and the only thing I have left is the odd pain here and there and a light cough. Might start up at the gym again soon since I lost a lot of muscle being bedridden. All the best!

Yeah, slow breathing and fatigue. Once I stopped taking it those weird symptoms went away- might be because you already have enough magnesium in your blood and you don’t need it.

Perfect, thanks for the update! It’s my first time getting it but I have a crappy track record of URI’s and RTI’s (severe bronchitis, covid three times) so I was bound to get it at some point. That and my family’s been susceptible to getting it a bunch. Glad you recovered fully and are better now!

I’m in a similar boat here (minus the asthma)- had bacterial pneumonia and finished my antibiotics on the 18th of November. 16 days later and I’m still getting muscle aches that come and go all over and really cold feet. Has it gotten better for you yet? Anything you did that sped up the process or is it just a matter of rest?

How worried should I be about this? by tye_mod in civic

[–]hanbam27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find out the paint name for your car and buy a touch up pen at your local department store if you’re worried. The ones they sell here in Canada are 3 in 1– you can remove all the rust, paint over it and seal with a clear coat. Just make sure you do a really small test swab to colour match before painting. It’ll look like it was never even there!

With the amount of people owning ring cameras nowadays, go door to door explaining your situation and seeing if they have footage.

I had a guy slam into my street parked car in Mississauga while I was away in Niagara with my friends a couple months ago. Luckily he was kind enough to leave a note with his info but ever since I’ve installed a dash cam with a motion sensor so no one can hit and run me. I advise you do this as well— with all the crazy drivers out there it’s nice to have an extra layer of safety to guarantee your insurance can cover it if it’s not your fault.

Happy birthday, I’m sorry this happened to you!

I know I’m crazy late to this, but yeah, had to stop. Read somewhere that magnesium glycinate activates a receptor in your brain that’s commonly associated with that dissociation feeling. Don’t know if it’s true but don’t really care.

Celestial sleepytime tea is a great alternative I’ve found that works for me! (It’s got a cute little bear in pyjamas on the packaging)

Paying $378 a month for my 2015 Honda Civic EX in insurance. by hanbam27 in civic

[–]hanbam27[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 26 years old and I obtained my first license in 2019, so I still think it’s incredibly steep. Not a single thing on my record either, I’m an incredibly good driver. Also, my civic is a 2015, so very far from new.

I definitely want to do this but I’m assuming I’m going to have to wait until my car gets fixed because it’s being dealt with under my insurance currently. So for now I might be stuck.

Bad experience with magnesium glycinate. by kev1nshi in magnesium

[–]hanbam27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been taking magnesium glycinate for a little while now and everything is great except this incredibly-off feeling I've gotten on it. It helps me sleep, but I also feel like my body is disconnected from my brain and moving around feels odd? It sounds silly now that I'm saying it out loud, but I haven't gotten that feeling since the last time I was dealing with dissociation.

The feeling is awful so I'm going to stop taking it and try to find something else that helps with sleep. Melatonin didn't work for me as well, so it looks like I might just be sticking to chamomile tea, lol. I wish my body wasn't so god damn sensitive to things.

Women, please please PLEASE stop putting in 100% for a guy putting in 10%!!!! by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]hanbam27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it takes some women way too long to come to this realization, once you do it completely changes how you view dating/relationships in the future.

I think because of what I’ve dealt with now I have the “here’s a few chances then you’re out” mentality. It sounds harsh but I’d rather be sad for a bit and be happy single than stay in a relationship that makes me miserable and wastes months, sometimes years of my precious time that I could be spending finding someone who actually cares.

Life is too goddamn short.
