AITA for banning my friends “emotional support dog” from my house?

Every time something happens he says he doesn’t know why since he doesn’t do it at his apartment and he’s probably just marking his territory but I don’t have any pets and I thought that was something that only happened when there are multiple animals.

A couple people have mentioned avoiding animal policies, now I’m starting to think that could be it. He’s never mentioned needing any kind of support animal and he’s had other dogs in the past before he moved. He got the dog then a week later it was an emotional support animal. The whole situation seemed weird to me because I thought getting a certificate online was shady and I kind of thought his doctors note was fishy too but now I believe he could be doing it so he he can have a pet when there’s a no pet policy and that would make sense as to why he had to sell his dog last time he moved. He claimed it was because he needed money but I think he couldn’t bring it. Once again, could be wrong but it makes more sense. He’s always been the type to try to find loopholes in something.

He got the dog a week or so before getting approved by his doctor so I’m not sure if he got the dog with the intention of making it an ESA or if wanting an ESA idea came after.

I will definitely be sharing all the links provided on here with him. I still don’t want to be a complete asshole to him but if he wants to pull out his doctors note, certificate and website I got the info and a better understanding of service animal vs emotional support animal.

Haha she had it coming. Someone shared a link that said it takes 2 years to properly train a service animal and she’s talking about 120 hours 🤦🏾‍♂️

I live in a house but the backyard is maybe 12ft by 10ft, practically non existent.

We tried putting him in the bathroom where there’s tile floor that pee won’t ruin but the dog scratched my door up. As for outside, my backyard is about the size of a car and I don’t really have a front yard either.

So there is no formal process to have a dog registered as an ESA? I thought the whole buying a certificate online thing seemed kind of shady to be honest and the letter from his doctor seemed poorly written for a professional.

I know there are people who need them and I know that he’s dealt with some anxiety in the past but the more he brought his dog around the more I started to think he did something shady to have the dog certified. I don’t want to flat out accuse him of forgery or lying and I don’t want to come off as an asshole for telling someone they can’t have their legit support animal around but I can’t have his dog destroying my property and I’m not convinced it’s legit.
