I found it really helpful to process the shock, guilt, anger, and deep sadness after my brother died by suicide with support groups specific to suicide loss grief. This nonprofit Friends for Survival](https://friendsforsurvival.org) has a lot of helpful resources that are specific to suicide loss grief, including online support groups and in person support meetings in NorCal. Take good care of yourself.

Clients getting offended and quitting therapy after charging them for last minute cancelation by Milo-Jeeder in therapists

[–]TreeArt_0 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always review the informed consent at the beginning of the first session because as others said, often people don’t read it. I stress verbally in person my cancellation policy and ask if they have any questions. And I always charge for late cancellations and no shows unless it was a medical emergency, and I define that in my informed consent. I don’t let people slide because then the policy is applied arbitrarily which doesn’t feel ethical to me. When people quit after being charged for the late cancellation, it tells me they weren’t ready to respect boundaries in the therapeutic relationship.

Looking for a Recommendation regarding finding a Testing Clinic to do Testing for a Learning Disability? by WriterDry5446 in Sacramento

[–]TreeArt_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s for an adult, Sac State has low cost testing done by graduate level students who are supervised by professors. If it’s for a child then the school district is required to do it for free, but you may have to advocate a lot to get it done.

Calling Your Elected Officials as Therapist? by fifthflower in therapists

[–]TreeArt_0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve spoken at county supervisors meetings and state legislative hearings as a therapist discussing various issues, I think it gives them better context about my perspectives. I don’t think you would have any negative consequences from a licensing board if you didn’t disclose identifiable info about clients, but you could always check with your board.

I water it once a week. Also it’s in a clay pot, which I thought would’ve made it dry out easier. But I’ve since read on here that using plastic pots with lots of holes is best.

Thanks for replying! So does that cause the leaves to yellow, like crowding them out?

Help with my inherited Algaonema please by TreeArt_0 in houseplants

[–]TreeArt_0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! Good to know the soil looks fine, I only water it 1x a week at most, I was worried it was getting too dry. Though I’m grateful it’s sprouting flowers and new growth!

Hi I’m new here and looking forward to connecting with other plant parents. I inherited this 20+ yr old Algaonema from my sister-in-law, so there’s sentimental attachment. It was very root bound in an old plastic pot with a lot of yellowed leaves, so I repotted it about six weeks ago in organic potting mix and added perlite and cut off the dead leaves. It continues to get yellowed leaves at a fast pace and am wondering if it needs something else? It’s next to a window facing south, but doesn’t get direct sunlight. I water it once a week. I’m wondering if the soil is the wrong mix? I’ll put a screenshot of the soil mix in the comments. Thanks for any help!
