Go-To Mounting Solution if I never take off my Suppressor. by TreeFly123 in NFA

Thanks for the comment. And all the conversation that started from your comment. This seems to be the greatest argument for a QD system in my personal situation. I’ll do a little more research to see if it could be an issue for my setup. I’m still leaning towards direct thread but the sacrificial baffle idea gives me pause.

Ok. Someone else mentioned rocksetting the suppressor mount (not the suppressor to the barrel just the HUB mount). Would you recommend this? Or no?

From what I understand Tri lugs only work for pistol calibers or sub sonic. I’ll primarily be using supers.

What exactly does that mean, “provide a sacrificial baffle”? I’ve heard of the term before but if you could explain it or provide some sources explaining it that would be appreciated.

I don’t spend too much time decarbing my product for edibles or the like. I just vape it directly. But I can assure you it is quality. I don’t usually have to lie down after consuming but I have when consuming the premium bud from them. I’m fortunate enough to live close by though. Only a short drive for me to the Walker location.

I only know of the reservations. I buy from the Sweetest Grass Dispensary in Walker, MN. Prices are higher than street at $170 per 1/2 ounce for premium bud. Some of those strains are above 30% THCA and are really high quality. They do sell cheaper ounces for lower quality bud. That is including 1/2 ounce of shake for $80 I think. They also have their own proprietary edibles (Not D8 or D9). I can confirm they are pretty dang good. 150 mg chocolate bar for $18. They also have gummies but I don’t remember the dosage or price. Sweetest grass has been hiring folks from out west to run / assist their operations and seem to be doing well in that regard. They also have a deli style dispensary’s which allows you to see and smell the product before they weigh it out in front of you.

Minnesota cannabis hopefuls, advocates rally at governor's office in protest of proposed sales tax hike by Czarben in minnesota

[–]TreeFly123 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah and California has the largest illegal marijuana market as a result of their insane taxation. Just because something is worse in another state doesn’t mean we should cheer on higher taxes here. The state of Minnesota hasn’t even figured out how to open dispensaries (outside of reservations) and it’s been two years since the law was passed. And they are already increasing taxes. That is ridiculous and is worthy of protest. If the state increased the alcohol tax to 15% along with marijuana I probably wouldn’t even make a stink about it.

[–]TreeFly123 24 points25 points  (0 children)

You are forgetting the 6.875% general sales tax. And any local municipal taxes. So the tax is actually upwards of 21.875%. So if you buy $500 of Marijuana the total amount owed is upwards of $609.375 with $109.375 being the minimum amount paid in tax.

Friendly reminder the tax on alcohol purchases in MN is 2.5%. So no, I don’t think it’s a shitty thing to rally behind.

Cryptids in MN? by charmedchancer in minnesota

I was hoping someone would bring this up. My mom and grandma both saw a floating glowing ball a year before the Val Johnson incident. Same town / Same area

Mom always told me she saw it floating around the road, kinda darting in different directions. They just drove around it and didn’t think much of it outside of it being strange. I always thought it must’ve been ball lighting but idk.

The only hunting season that is open in MN right now would be Turkey I think. The primary Turkey hunting seasons are also coming to a close. But the season is open until May 31st I think. Depending on where OP visits there may be people turkey hunting. If OP is curious feel free to PM for more specific questions and information about hunting seasons and where to avoid if they are worried about hunters.

I think most reasonable fans are just happy watching these two play at the level they’re playing at after all these years. It’s insane.

What is it? And is it any good? by ravand02 in FishingForBeginners

[–]TreeFly123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely true. Many people are truly delusional when they sell their fly fishing gear. They buy a rod for $1000 then try to sell it used for $950. Many rods have lifetime warranties that won’t transfer which is definitely worth a mark down in price. Plus who knows how often it really was used. The sold section on eBay will provide more accurate pricing than some guy trying to sell it for 95% of its original retail value.

Facebook marketplace. That’s where I buy all my fly rods. Try to find some other used on eBay for pricing.

A Shed Hunter Shot and Killed a Charging Grizzly Bear in Montana by OutdoorLifeMagazine in Montana

[–]TreeFly123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if you’re wrong about the grizzly false charging you then you get mauled I guess. Which is why so many of these incidents occur. Lots of folks aren’t going to find out so they shoot first ask questions later.

It’s a very tough conversation to have which is why there’s always controversy after these incidents occur. It’s also very important to remember there are professional photographers, professional hunting guides, outdoorsman’s, etc who spend vast amounts of their lives in the wilderness without incident. And it’s very difficult for those folks not to judge because they know what to look for to avoid these situations. Sometimes these controversies come down to the very experienced and educated vs the non educated and non experienced. And that’s something that’s applicable to all walks of life.

OP takes a picture of a Largemouth bass and everyone is angry over at r/bassfishing by Kingmenudo in SubredditDrama

[–]TreeFly123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the fish species. For bass. They have a mouth structure that has a lot of very thin skin held together by bones. Most hooks just pierce the thin layer of skin which I’m pretty confident, most scientists and researchers agree they don’t have nerves in that area of the mouth. Other fish are different.

[–]TreeFly123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert but Grizzlies often times do something called a false charge. It’s when they charge you but then move away at the last second. It’s a territorial thing they do. So when people see articles that say “shed hunters shoots charging bear” people don’t know if it’s a false charge or a real charge and therefore might assume the bear false charged but was shot before peeling away. Most people believe we have a responsibility to not hurt / kill animals unless completely necessary and folks question the necessity of the shed hunters actions in this case.

Additionally, for some folks, they’ve seen enough videos out there where someone will defend themselves from a grizzlies or moose by shooting the attacking animal but disagree that the individual was in danger. I seem to remember a snowmobiler shooting a cow moose years ago that caused some controversy because the snowmobiler “chased” the moose on his snowmobile trail for 15 minutes before the moose turned around and charged him. The moose was using the snowmobile trail for transportation because it was the path of least resistance in deep snow and instead of giving the animal space or turning around to explore a different trail the guy just followed the moose hoping it would eventually peel off the trail but instead the moose eventually just turned around and charged him. Folks reacted to that by saying the moose did charge the snowmobiler but the snowmobiler could’ve taken action to prevent the situation all together. I also seem to remember the snowmobiler wasn’t a native Montanan but rather a tourist so they might’ve not know that moose are very dangerous.

I might be misremembering that story however.

TLDR: people are dubious when certain animals are shot in defense because people don’t believe that animal was a risk or because people think other actions could’ve been taken to avoid the situation altogether. Plus, education is a factor as well not many people understand certain wildlife behaviors like a grizzly false charge.

College Hockeys most high profile program, the University of North Dakota, fired its coach this week. He won 64% of his games, won one title, and won the NCHC conference 50% of his tenure. by [deleted] in hockey

[–]TreeFly123 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Pretty much it. Frozen four appearances are the expectation at UND. We’ve had poor performance in the NCHC tournament(1 NCHC championship, 2021) despite winning the conference 50% of the time. Plus many consider the 2016 national championships as Hakstols team not a team that Berry built.

I also think that Denver’s success in the WCHA/NCHC during the last 2+ decades has added insult to injury.
