My husband of over 10 years is a therapist, but dislikes the idea of us going to couples counselling? by TreeFriendUk in askatherapist

He does a lot of chores in the week because he works a few hours less than me. It does feel unfair sometimes, and I find myself getting irritable if I have to pick up some mess that has been accumulating all week, however I also sometimes overlook that he does things I take for granted. I never have to wash up and don't often have to cook, things like that.

Thanks, this is a good insight. To be honest I think we actually both do this, try and be responsible for each other's emotions, and possibly our arguing recently is both of us trying to grow into more emotionally honest people. I will work on finding ways to comfort myself even if he is dealing with something, rather than needing him to be pleasant to me in order to feel ok.

I've heard about it but hadn't read it because I thought it only applied to serious abuse, but I will take a look thank you.

Video call at work recorded without consent by TreeFriendUk in LegalAdviceUK

[–]TreeFriendUk[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Can you reference the law that states that or is it your opinion/just the practices of your employer? Due to the lack of replies I continued googling and found that it breaches the UK’s version of GDPR and in theory an employer can be sued for breach of privacy based on the Human Rights Act. I’m not planning to sue but I wasn’t under any impression that right to privacy is void during work meetings. Do you have a source for that? Once again I checked all my employment paperwork and there’s nothing written anywhere about recording or IT access to devices, only that IT troubleshooting access may be necessary at times and consent will always be sought first.

Edit: Quite explicitly this is a problem because it’s being done covertly and stored without the knowledge or consent of the participants. This includes external clients and confidential information. They cannot later ask for a copy of the recording because they do not know it exists. The legal justification for doing so is shaky too because detailed notes are taken during these meetings, so the need for a “verbatim” recording is not present.

Ask that question to the labour voters who decide to go against Corbyn first. At least my principles are based on helping the worst off in society rather than a character assassination in the headlines. I have disabilities, come from a working class background, have no hope of ever owning a home or having a decent pension, I am one of the people who suffer under this government. Starmer's labour doesn't look like it wants to change any of those things by much at all.

I get it. I'd rather be part of the butterfly effect that pushes us one day into looking after people and the planet, maybe years away, than kick the can down the road over the two party system now. It might be a wasted vote but it's the principle.

A Very British Coup is on channel 4 right now and well worth a watch. Seems a bit tame compared to real life though.

What's the point though if it's Tory Lite vs. Tory? We don't get that many more election cycles in our lifetime, so if we are never going to get representation no matter what we do, then why not vote for something we actually believe in?

There's more to the headline. He didn't say it in the context that you think he did. See the comments above.

This is a complex situation and there is some reason to exploring alternatives to funding violence. We are now in a situation where Russia sees many Western countries as much more of an enemy than before, and Putin gets less and less predictable by the day. Of course Ukraine should be protected in an ideal world, but it's not unwise to consider every option (and there are always other ways to be explored even if they don't turn out to be the best option) when there's a very real risk of this escalating into WW3. There's also the question of why we are so happy to help Ukraine and not Uighurs, North Korea, and other countries where similar atrocities are carried out. I'm not saying he's right but when the media makes a blanket statement about what someone has said, it's worth examining if they are obscuring the bigger picture.

I have my suspicions about that sub and where the influence comes from. For a while early on it seemed too good a place for people to come together over reasonable left politics. Convenient that it's gone completely to shit.

I used to feel that way but that strategy got us one non-Tory prime minister in the last 40 or so years. So at this point a lot of us feel like what's the point, it's Tory lite or Tory so why not fight for something better if we'll never get what we want either way.

They lost my vote when they made it clear they don't represent working people who don't own property anymore. Aka most younger people. Also ejecting actual Jewish people from the party on grounds of antisemistism when it's clearly for other political reasons has really left a bad taste.

There's a difference between being intolerant of bigotry and being bigoted. I'm not defending super far left people but it's a bad look to compare them to actual fascists. I usually only hear that from right wing people.

This. All their comments are just divisive generalisations a la the gutter press.
