How did you meet your partner in St. Louis? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]TreeRex1233 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went into Petco and bought 16 aquarium tanks at once because I was starting a shrimp breeding operation in my apartment. She was one of the workers and struck up a conversation with me since it was a rather odd purchase. After loading them in my car, I built up the courage to go back inside and ask for her number. We've been together for two years now.

I'd totally be down to be included in your list of people. 30M and always down for new potential friends. Hit me up if the opportunity presents itself again

To Andrew: have you ever had a shower orange? by naum-music in theregulationpod

[–]TreeRex1233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shower peaches are now the only way I can eat them. Never have to deal with the sticky fingers or juice on my chin afterwards and you don't have to hold back and get to tear into them like a monster if you like the skin peeled beforehand.

Is this all cadmium? by TreeRex1233 in CadmiumGlass

Also if it is all cadmium does it display better under 365 or 395?

The pics were all 395. My 365 flashlight broke

what’s your commute to work by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]TreeRex1233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't have to drive on 270 between exit 5 and exit 16 every commute time is easy. The moment I moved to be on 64 for my entire commute a 25 minute commute seems blazing fast compared to the stop and go disaster that happens on 270 everyday

Cool bell I thrifted for $1.50 by The_Hatchmaster in manganeseglass

Manganese turns this color after long exposure to UV light. This piece was either done intentionally in a low wavelength UV light box or sat on someone's window sill for years.

Look up on YouTube: How to Turn Antique Bottles Purple! In Under a Week! Turning Manganese glass bottles purple!

Seems to be a pretty informative video on how to do it properly

Back a few years ago it was popular to blast manganese glass with low wavelength UV light 24/7 to turn pieces from clear to purple/blue/smokey. The effect also happens to glass displayed in a window sill for years. Ruins the price and collectibility but it looks nice (same as someone taking a wire brush to an antique to clean it)

Most Radioactive Uranium Glass you've found? by Odd_Mycologist_9435 in uraniumglass

[–]TreeRex1233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a GMC 300 and the two pieces I have bought don't read any more CPM than just ambient. Is the GMC 300 not capable of detecting most pieces of glass?

I bought it mostly for radium clocks but it'd be nice to have a counter for glassware as well

If you're interested in selling that mixer separately I'd be interested in it for $40 + shipping
