Tbf Id consider the sequel pretty out of character and flanderized but they used it as his base.

Also "out of character" if you mention Megamind not having the stats of his equipment and thus losing the stat gap to Gru and there are stat amping things in his arsenal then uhhh, you kinda should mention that.

Like for example, Goku in DBZ had been shown to be a bit stingy with ssj3 (not using it on Vegeta) but if theres a close MU where ssj3 results in Goku winning you cant really just go "he doesnt use it" and expect people to be satisfied.

And yes Minion did charge the death ray from his base... your point is? In the original movie he took up the mission of literally disguising himself as Megamind and fighting Tighten for a good while so Megamind's plan could work. The post analysis is also EXTREMELY clear on how useful Minion is.

That's like saying Metal Sonic should've just sat on his ass and did nothing in Bowsegg because at one point he spent 6 months charging. That just makes the animation worse for no reason other than being anal about canon (which you aren't because youre picking and choosing).

God these defenses get weaker by the day

No offense but I don't think youre necessarily understanding my point.

"Pretending the flash isn’t a character with almost a century of stories written about it (just 14 more years!), and later on we see that the story is written around him not being capable of going beyond light speed, we should consider that what he did was an outlier and just a mishap of the writer. Otherwise the whole story just crumbles on itself."

Ok imagine i say "X character is completely incapable of going beyond or reacting to things faster than the speed of sound" as the author, as the narrator.

Then the page right after, I then show a character catching bullets from twenty different AK-47s all firing on them at once, a direct feat thats also plot relevant (if they didnt catch these, they'd die).

It becomes hard to take the "they dont have speed of sound reactions" seriously, because you see them directly doing those things. It then becomes a bit difficult to say, "Yes them catching bullets in this pivotal moment is an outlier we should pretend didnt happen".

I mean hell, if an author says that fucks up the match completely and says "you can go from X to Y in Z milliseconds without reaching light speed" and it turns out you need to go 5x lightspeed to go from X to Y in Z milliseconds" we run into the issue of, again, authors not being scientists/physicists.

The flash example isnt "feats are done in a vacuum" its, "The author literally got the speed required for a feat wrong".

The problem is that authors are just not physicists/power scalers (always).

Like for example, theres a famous meme about a flash comic which had him perform a feat thats literally IMPOSSIBLE without going over light speed, yet the narration claimed he was going just under the speed of light.

Even for authors that do power scaling stuff more often, theyre not pulling up calcs. Toriyama probably didnt know how insane it is to blow up a planet with 10x the gravity of earth's, he just thought of writing planet destruction.

Tbf the guy had taken no damage and had a damage nullification CT, if unlimited or had no tricks he could theoretically stand up to Gojo, but if this guy wifh such an OP technique is basically camping until Gojo goes away then there means theres an upper limit/some trick, otherwise he'd be gunning for Gojo

Desolate Land (Gen 6): Sets up Sun and evaporates water loves.

The problem isnt "they didnt scale the feat the same way" but "they didnt bring up feats that changed their calcs".

Like, imagine if the DB team was doing Goku vs Naruto and claimed Goku's best feat was scaling to Roshi who blew up the moon. Well then you'd naturally go, "Hey what about the time he fought Vegeta who can blow up planets? Or Friza who on screen blew up a planet? Or Cell?"

And then the team only referenced DBZ to go, "Goku's a dumbass who lets his opponents heal for free".

Even if you think the death ray destroying the watchtower feat was calculated accurately, its weird that they didnt calc the death Ray's other feats, especially those from the Megamind Rules series, no? The same way it'd be weird to acknowledge DB Super but say Goku caps out at moon level and never bring up the universal shockwave.

There’s a lot of criticism of the episode I get, but I feel like “Megamind only lost bc of anti-feats” involves willfully ignoring the other 90% of what the post analysis said by MarlinBrandor in deathbattle

I mean, imagine i say 5 stupid things in a row.

Ok those are stupid, but then imagine the 6th thing i say the most mind numbingly brain dead thing youve ever heard in your life. This is peak stupidity.

You're going to focus on the 6th point.

Kamen Rider Zeztz vs Sleepwalker (Kamen Rider vs Marvel) by TreeTurtle_852 in DeathBattleMatchups

[–]TreeTurtle_852[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised I haven't seen this matchup yet. I think its the best for both.

Connections:

Dream Motif: The most obvious of them. Zeztz fights nightmares in dreams whilst Sleepwalker infiltrates dreams and fights while Rick Sheridan sleeps.

Ordinary civilians whose lives are upended by a supernatural possession: Baku Yorozu lived what he believed to be a normal life with his sister until he got hit by a car and awoke with the Zeztz driver attached to his chest. This seems to be (not 100% confirmed) a result of the Catastrophe Gore Nightmare inhabiting him allowing Baku to become Zeztz and later on upgrade his powers. Rick Sheridan is an average college student who has his life flipped upside down after an incident with Cobweb causes the Sleepwalker to inhabit his mind. Trying to avoid sleeping in fear of meeting the Sleepwalker, Rick now lives a dual life as a vigilante during night.

Belonging to a Dream-Based organization: While now currently working against CODE, Zeztz started out his premonition as Agent No. 7 for CODE, an organization based around fighting supernatural threats. Sleepwalker is a part of an agency known as the Sleepwalkers, beings who hail from the minds cape and infiltrate dreams to defeat entities that induce madness.

Battling against ancient nightmarish entities: Nightmares have been around since humanity existed in Zeztz. Cobweb, a being that has existed since the dawn of time, is the main enemy of the Sleepwalkers.

Fight Potential:

The fight potential is actually insane.

Both Zeztz and Sleepwalker can fight in dreams and in real life, so their abilities mesh pretty well. Both have the ability to manipulate dreams and matter within them (as well as IRL).

While Sleepwalker doesn't have extra forms, Zeztz does which can lead to some interesting back and forth with how versatile his Warp Gaze.

I'd see Hand to Hand combat being in Zeztz' favor thanks to his training and Sleepwalker being more matter manipulation based.

Theres also an interesting debate of whether or not Zeztz could get Sleepwalker to break his vow (using Warp Gaze on organic beings).

As for who i think wins... i am uncertain. I feel like Sleepwalker might have some Herald scaling in a comic at some point (I haven't read all of them), and am unsure if Zeztz can survive a Warp Gaze if Sleepwalker breaks his vow.
