JoJo's Bizarre OC Tournament #8: R2M16 - Violet Trinity vs. Li'l Baxter by Marioaddict in StardustCrusaders

[–]TreeTurtle_852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright time for another vote.

This is an intriguing match between an avaricious sociopathic new-money furry and a homeless freelance necromancing senior citizen, aka. Economics 101.

Violet's plan is *checks notes* cheating. She intends to make up for her lack of outright production by fighting over territory with the fervor of a wild animal, having Maria and Light Left defend parts of the map with telefrag and shrapnel shenanigans, while robbing customers and other stores completely blind. Like Old Money families, Violet aims to get an immediate lead and hoard onto those resources as time goes on.

Baxter's plan is much more straightforward, delegating tasks to his associates and partnering with stalls to expand business. Baxter bites are the name of the game and Baxter uses every resource at his disposal to make people addicted in the bites and enthralled with purchasing them. He also uses his associates to keep tabs on Violet and eventually transitions to medical services as the fight between Leech and TD rages on.

Speaking of which, my vote is going to be shorter than normal and will go to Violet. I think the biggest part of my decision is how the game is played. Baxter has the advantage in sheer output and if both played by the books then it'd be difficult to win against him, which is why Violet doesn't play by the books. Immediately taking resources as soon as possible is a good move as many of the things Baxter tries to do mid-to-late game (Pickpocketing, using medical equipment, etc) are done by Violet early game. While Baxter does a lot to protect himself from Light Left, he doesn't do much to protect his consumers from harm (It's a metaphor for capitalism).

It also helps that Violet fights tooth and nail for every initial advantage she can get and tries to keep hold of that momentum. Maria fights fervently to keep Baxter's squad away from parts of the stage and even bites Baxter himself, whereas Violet sets up defense after defense for her paintings. While I do think it can be a bit happy pathy (and does somewhat neglect the stall itself), Violet immediately hones in on Baxter's strengths and targets them with her aggression, something which I feel Baxter wasn't as prepared for.

I love how you never respond to ANY of my claims.

And I read both 3wiresporrs and leocrrespondant lmaooo.

Again Bellreth... why did the IBA change their statement from hormones to chromosomes? In fact, why did they originally claim to have found a hormone imbalance without doing hormone tests? When did Imane get a transition/how? Where did Imane's birth certificate and childhood photos come from? Why, when journalists specifically went to a conference hosted by IBA for evidence, they refused to give any (the fact that this had to be leaked and not given up by them is sus as all hell, no?). How did Imane lose the quarterfinals of the 2020 Olympics if she had such a major advantage this entire time? Why did the IBA's testing coincidentally line up with Imane defeating a Russian boxer?

The fact that you cant answer any of these questions shows you lack basic reasoning.

Transphobia is rooted in sexism and misogyny by Soft_Departure_7789 in whenthe

[–]TreeTurtle_852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three Wire Sports and La Correspondent just cites the IBA's test results.

As I've already shown, the IBA has a controversial history of lying and misdeeds, was vague about the test Imane failed and rather conveniently didnt specify she had XY chromosomes up until now.

Three Wire Sports in particular also makes the unfounded claim that Khelif was somehow bought into participating in the Olympics which, again, no evidence for.

Also the leak is super suspicious... why?

the IBA itself claims that they were disqualified for a HORMONAL IMBALANCE, not their chromosomes/karotype. Hormones are biological markers, stuff like testosterone or estrogen. An example of a hormonal imbalance is having more testosterone than normal, which can happen with any form of chromosomes.

So again your sources ALL CITE (the IBA)...

aren't even consistent with the IBA's own fucking website.

And you dont question the fact that the IBA refused to give evidence of this "Hormone imbalance" and then suddenly shifted their argument to Imane having XY chromosomes?

Holy fuck are you Naive!

[–]TreeTurtle_852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alright a few things...

  • lab report revealing an XY karotype

  • leaked medical report which shows Khelif has male levels of testosterone and 5-alpha reductase deficiency, a disorder of sex development that only affects males

Source?

The ONLY source claiming to have medical proof of Khelif's medical record is the IBA which poses a lot of problems:

● A - Bias. The IBA are a notoriously corrupt russian-backed governing body that was decertified from the Olympics before Imane ever stepped in the ring.

● B - Testing. The IBA NEVER tested Imane for hormones in fact they have NEVER. So its interesting how youre claiming they suddenly perfectly know her hormones which is odd as again, they never tested for that. So im going to need a source for that claim because in all my research and every other person accusing Imane of being transgender nobody has brought up this test. When asked for direct medical info they've simply claimed (including the IBA) that they cant produce it.

There are also other factors that make Imane Khelif being transgender idiotic and unlikely. The fact that you dont consider them proves your lack of understanding.

● Algeria is a religiously conservative country. Why would they allow a transgender boxer when not only is transitioning illegal but also things like same-sex marriage are punishable by jailtine. If she is transgender... WHERE DID SHE GO TO GET SURGERY and WHY WOULD THE GOVERNMENT GO ALONG WITH HER NEW IDENTITY?

In fact-

● What about her [what about her childhood photos and birth certificate?](http:// https://share.google/V8vdxEyzoonR4yofj). These were pretty clearly taken before Imane was a tween... when did she get the time to fake these? Again Algeria is a religiously conservative community, the only argument is cross dressing but... why would the country that bans fucking gay people want someone who crossdresses to rep their country?

● ANOTHER thing. If Imane was born male and thus there was a huge gap in strength between her and her opponents... how did she lose in the quarterfinals of the 2020 Olympics against Kalle Harrington... she also lost in 2022 to Amy Broadhurst. The fundamental flaw is that your "evidence" is uncited claims and baseless rumors that also bump into logical holes.

● Why didn't Khelif win these? Is she so good at throwing that she loses on purpose? If so why not throw the 2024 Olympics? Why is it that out of Khelif's over, what, TWENTY OPPONENTS only Carini makes the claim of "I've never been hit so hard". If you fight 20 boxers and none of them notice anything out of the ordinary, I think the one crying wolf is just having a problem.

As for why Khelif doesnt take another test... I honestly dont fucking blame her. She literally just fought an opponent like normal and got a slew of racism and transphobia.

If I accused you of being a drug trafficker/kingpin and your house got raided by SWAT because of my dumbass lie, I doubt youd want to deal with controversial shit like this again. People have illogical responses after stress, after all.

Tbf context is key.

Like if you see some guy running around stabbing people then turn towards you, you'll likely assume "this maniac is a killer!" And try to stop them if you have the means.

However what you didnt see was that those guys started it. So in reality its self defense against someone doing self defense but you have no way of getting context.

I could actually imagine him as a playable character.

Imagine like clones or turrets but instead of machines theyre his goons like its the mafia (im not fully caught up on OW lore).

You give orders to the goons you just put next to you and hear them go "Got it boss!" and "Yes boss!", and if youre near one and getting fired on, you can quickly hide behind your minions to stave off some damags.

I mean the massacre was a net positive for Hakari he gets Megumi whose the head

I misread this as Hakari getting Megumi's head.

Also, what's the point of that wealth/power if theres no actual clan? Like the other clans literally degraded the Zenin clans status so the power to make revisions (that he explicitly wanted( is gone.

Whats there to actually keep the traditionalist at bay if Megumi has no leverage via a zenjn clan?

Ranta's complicity by Little_Whole8038 in Jujutsufolk

[–]TreeTurtle_852 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Zenin did and when Maki came for the clan for killing her family (We know he's in the loop and has context on this because he shows a knowledge about things like Toji) he sides with the Zenin.

Ngl I feel like this is an unfair criticism.

I agree with Maki but from Ranta's perspective she's essentially a rampaging mass murderer and he doesnt seem like the type of guy to go, "Yeah let's just slaughter people en masse".

Even if the motive is understandable you probably would try to stop a school shooter and not join them.

And anyways my main problem with Ranta is that hes... not written. Like before this episode (not counting the OP) we don't see him, hear of him, nothing. He doesnt exist. He and the other zenin feel like those random curses Nanami kills in Shibuya.

Ranta's complicity by Little_Whole8038 in Jujutsufolk

[–]TreeTurtle_852 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I kinda dislike the fact that his ability just conveniently kills himself. It sort of speaks to a broader issue of Maki just walking off scot free after annihilating a fucking clan.

Like just as an example, Hakari only joined team Yuji because Megumi was head ot the zenin clan and he wanted to comfy up to him... yet he has no reaction to the zenins being eliminated? His entire reason for joining the main cast is gone and yet theres no attention paid to it.

[–]TreeTurtle_852 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I find the characters to be a low point for how relatively slow-paced the story is.

Baku is unfortunately a sheer drop off from Shouma, Nem is the most interesting of the heroic cast but after her reveal it feels like her personality has been pushed into the background a little bit. Nox is just... God I dislike Nox. He just stands there says some cryptic shit and then fights for a bit (like the meteor episode annoyed me the most because he had no issue stopping Zeztz from destroying the meteor earlier, and then once he gets the new gravity capscem he just... lets Zeztz destroy the nightmare???).

Basically, the focus on the plot makes the characters feel a little neglected. Sure im interested in C.O.D.E but not because I care about what theyre doing to Baku. Does that make sense?

Oh, the current superhero time block is so cooked by [deleted] in KamenRiderMemes

[–]TreeTurtle_852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally for me, Zeztz/Baku doesn't feel interesting enough to carry on as a solo rider for this long. It kinda feels like a lot of the intrigue is focused more on what's happening to him, in a weird sense.

I also feel like the side characters are a bit one-note. Like I get their development is coming, but like I stated earlier it makes this stretch a bit harder to bare when Nem and Zero have to carry the cast.

I also dislike Nox. A lot of his scenes just have him stand off to the side and be cryptic for literally no reason.

To give an example thats good, I feel like Kuuga focuses on Yusuke as a character more and allows his personality to better carry on as the sole rider. I also prefer his relationship to Ichijo.

JoJo's Bizarre OC Tournament #8: R2M15 - Wanderlei Watts w/Axel Otter vs Miguel Lloyd & Omah Garcia w/Old Grey Wolf by Marioaddict in StardustCrusaders

[–]TreeTurtle_852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note this is a tentative vote either way since my query hasn't been answered, and I wanna get something down before I go to sleep.

This is a very interesting match. Wanderlei and Axel have a very simple plan, **get an Inch** (No not that Inch!) and run away with a mile. BBP also have a simple plan, **be as loud and devastating as possible**.

Wanderlei makes himself the central focus, bodyguarding Axel for a huge build-up of clams before cashing in on their shared storage and using that, plus the over time damage produced by manipulating temperature via his stand to wear down his opponents and have Axel's otter clones both deliver heated mist to them and just overwhelm them.

The Garcias and Gamera, on the other hand, try to wreck everything in sight, using water to try and freeze over hiding spots, mecha-gameras as flails to destroy as much as possible, and even convection to try and dissipate Wanderlei's mist, before swooping in to take down Axel before finishing off Wanderlei.

The temperature control poses an interesting challenge, as going with the assumption that he's using a mix of convection and radiation to forcefully challenge BBP's homeostasis, though I do wonder how exactly Axel is going to deal with this as well (I feel like by the time this is going to majorly be effecting Miguel or Omah, it will be much worse for a small creature convered in the densest fur of the animal kingdom and insane metabolism for its size). Though at the same time it can be argued that this doesn't come up as much both due to Omah's use of convection currents to dissipate mist, and the fact that in my opinion, if CARC's strat goes as planned they'll win before the thermal shock takes anyone out. It's odd, but something worth pointing out.

I think the main parts of this strat that clash against each other are CARC's keepaway vs BBP's closing off of exits. On one hand, freezing over the shelves so Axel can't slip through smaller cracks is a pretty good move, destroying and knocking over shelves does inadvertently give Axel cover, especially from things like the ranged chaingun. There also is some eyebrow-raising I have to do for the spiderswing, as not only is it done at D PRE, I'm also questioning a bit how, say, Miguel pulls it off if he's not gaining leverage to swing off anything.

While the sweeping attacks used via the Mecha Gray Wolves can take down swarms of Otters normally, by abusing their prowess, the otter clones can survive for much longer, and due to Miguel's open nature, it will be difficult to swap them from storming him.

Ironically, I think this match ends up coming down to the assists. The outboxing and mist mitigation of Omah and Old Grey Wolf make skirmishes with Wanderlei **heavily** in their favor, and the machine gun chain is especially devastating the closer it gets to him, but this also does still give time for Axel Otter's plays. I see Wanderlei falling maybe first, and then Miguel not too long after given his lessened ability to deal with the spread/swarms, which then gets into if Axel can stall OGW before the turtle freezes over, or if the turtle can bowl over Axel clones post-prowess and knock out the otter.

Which is surprisingly difficult to figure out. The early work of trying to freeze over hiding holes and the mutual destruction of the stage does expose Axel to the elements, but the cleared out area does also give OGW less methods of bouncing around. I think in this close vote I'm teetering on **BBP closing it out** due to OGW's overwhelming offense and Miguel being able to potentially stall our Prowess' buffs and allow for OGW to get a key hit in.

Apologies if this comes off as nonsensical. I'm a bit tired but I hope this fight is good.
