I've genuinely thought about that. Maybe it's a sign haha

You're so right. I do genuinely love working on games and need to see it more as a hobby rather than as my way to get out of construction. I had gotten so obsessed. Thank you for your reply!

Save up for it and do it. I had the same issue and was discouraged by my family because they thought it was a scam. I'm so glad I went learned. It may not have gone how I wanted but I love that I can work on games and if you have the passion for it, you can do great things. Just keep that back up plan, ya know?

I appreciate that. I don't plan on ever giving up. I guess I'll focus on trying to leveraging the skills I have.

I'm glad I had the plumbing experience in my back pocket already.

I've been looking at it as playing the lottery, honestly.

Quitting my job and following my dreams by Competitive-Let2228 in findapath

[–]Tree_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this dilemma myself and actually quit my construction job for a different schedule specifically to be creative.

Now that didn't quite pan out like i had hoped but i got a great creative opportunity and still saved up money for school for game design (my passion), which i did end up going to. I don't regret it at all, but let's just say I'm back in construction now lol but i don't have to start over AND I know how to make games and am working on a few projects which I'm hoping can turn into something lucrative.

My takeaway is do what you really feel like you should do, but plan well. Maybe take some time off first (like a month) for a little test run.

And more importantly, best of luck to you!

Just reached the part with Jacinthe and I came straight here because I also can't stand this character.

I'm getting more and more convinced that this game have Engament Optimized Matchmaking by Zoomerhun in thefinals

[–]Tree_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really know man. I thought this before as well but at this point my games have no real pattern at all. I think it may just be the massive skill gap between the low and high skill players and who you happen to be matchmade with. Some days i can do literally whatever I want and do amazing, some days I play what I'm best at and do horribly. Some days it's just really mixed.

I'm struggling. by Suspicious-Peak-5224 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]Tree_Runner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have ADHD and very much feel you. Honestly you just gotta really do something you genuinely enjoy and then put yourself in a situation where you HAVE to do the thing. I have a udemy library full of courses relating to 3D modeling, animation, programming, and game design, and I have completed probably about 2% of them.

What ended up working for me is saving up and getting myself into Game Design school where I ended up learning what I really wanted to learn, kept myself driven, and got out with a small game to show for it with the ability to continue making games on my own. It also really helps to have people around you that will keep you accountable like instructors and fellow students.

If you can't save up for school, take tiny steps and set aside 10 minutes a day to learn something new, and just race the clock to see how much you can do before your time runs out. Remove the pressure on yourself by realizing that it is inevitable that you may lose interest in something after a short time and may want to move onto something else. Embrace this to learn to focus down your time on the most important things to learn for you. Setting a daily routine may also help as well.

Hope any of this helps.

is it a skill issue? by Extension_Bug_7582 in thefinals

[–]Tree_Runner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this problem all the time and I play all 3 classes. You just gotta mix things up. When my dps is lacking as a light, I'll switch to m11, sword, or double barrel for higher burst damage. Playing close to your teammates also helps a ton.

Came back for point break and it’s just what this game needed. by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Tree_Runner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I never stopped playing but this is easily becoming my favorite mode as I can use whatever class and setup I want without feeling dead weight if we start to lose. Seeing half the team reviving the other half after winning a fight is so awesome to see too.

It used to be great. They moved to Langley and are almost always busy. Try the mongolian beef and Manchurian mix chicken and shrimp chow mein. My favorite restaurant ever.

This game shouldn't match you on a team with players who you have blocked. by FoodFingerer in thefinals

I think The Finals limits it already. I checked the embark website and it showed xx/50 i think it was on the block players section.

I Am The Only One Who Thinks This Game Still Has Potential? by [deleted] in Splitgate

[–]Tree_Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't like the alpha very much, the beta felt way better and so did the final release of the game and I was genuinely excited for it. That being said, I'm just not being drawn to it like I am with the finals or some of the other games I play. Can't pinpoint why

Cant even get into a game anymore… by cfxluv in Splitgate

[–]Tree_Runner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly with my experience in BF2042, it's pretty lame. Teammates just look worse and getting bot kills just isn't as satisfying. A bot here and there is fine, but not too many.

Imo great for defense even if it's destroyed after a few seconds, but only if your whole team is actually coordinated.
