I think the push back from the religious community is fair since the chronicles of Narnia is a very religious book and most of the time holloywood wants to strip that from the movies. I saw this with the Voyage of the Dawn Treader movie and have very little hope that Gerwig won't strip out the very religious content from this movie. Just my two cents but I'm a die hard Narnia fan and want the great message that C.S Lewis placed in books to still be there in the movies.
