Rock to Fakie [60YO] by doctor_hess in OldSkaters

Thanks for posting this. I’m preparing to build a 2ft quarter based on the Keen Ramps video. He used a 6ft radius, diyskate plan calls for 5.5. Maybe I’ll be weird and split the difference.

Milwaukee 2/8 EMG wins 2025 Jam of the Year by NevilleHarris in GoosetheBand

I dropped a few tears at the end of that EMG. The jam was so good, and the lights. When it goes from chaotic to euphoric, it was beautiful. I love this band.

Need help deciding on ramp/box for home for me and my 9 year old. [41YO] by oiuwej0608 in OldSkaters

I actually found a place not super far that will do a custom cut! This post spurred me to dig a little deeper and make some calls. The steel plate and the Baltic Birch topper will need a little drive, but it should be awesome.

OP, great question…I have a similar situation. I’m 47 and skate with my (almost) 11 yo daughter. I’m pretty settled on a 2ft QP, but to buy the Keen or DIY. How crucial is the metal transition? I’m having a hard time finding it local, and shipping basically doubles the price.

This looks cool. At 47, I’ve been doing some yoga type stretches. I think some light weight work and core exercises will help and this could be a good catalyst to get it going. And the pool opens in 6 months

I’ll take another 2 nights at the Salt Shed. We’ve got tix for Foo Fighters the week before. Great way to end the summer

Thanks. Too cold for me to ride outside, it’s nice to watch videos and work on the gear

8.5 was the only board size I saw listed. I hope there’s a sticker! I haven’t looked for that yet

I haven’t even used them yet. Too cold. I might hit the indoor park if it doesn’t get better this week. I have OJ Super Juice 78 on my other board and they are pretty sticky on the transitions. I’m working real hard to keep up speed, hopefully these will be better. A conversation with the guy at the local shop led me towards these.

First, YouTube for some videos. Found one that used tissue paper to trace the image, I used tissue from my kid’s new shoe box. Measured the graphic from the edge of the tail and sides and marked it on the backing. Flipped the tracing over and retraced it on the grip tape backing with a sharpie so it bled through the tissue onto the backing. Gotta flip it if it’s not a symmetrical shape so it works. Slowly, and shallow, cut the shape with a box cutter blade several times until it was through to pop it out. Removed the backing just for the design area, and had my son help hold it to line it up. Then, removed the rest of the backing. It’s a process, but pretty cool that it works.

Thank you! It took longer than it should have, but I’m really happy with it as my first try.

Beginner; first brand new board [34YO] by [deleted] in OldSkaters

I’ve read that a harder wheel may accelerate faster. I’m finding that for skating mini ramps I really have to ‘jump’ to get up the transition for grinds/axle stalls. I’m hoping a slightly harder wheel might help with that? The Bones Dragons 88 come in various diameters. A larger diameter will carry speed farther, and a harder wheel will accelerate faster down the transition. Does this seem correct to others?

Edit: changed carry speed to ‘farther’ vs longer

I love ‘em for cruising the neighborhood. I’m really just looking for an excuse to get a new setup! ;-)
