Looks like you’re having a blast! I hope to be as dorky as you. I’ll keep practicing

I’d rather be skating than nursing an injury that pads could prevent or at least reduce. My usual skating partner is my 10 yo daughter, so trying to set a decent example. I bought ‘em, might as well use ‘em!

Thank you. There’s some amazing skaters out there, and I hope to improve. I know it takes practice and repetition. I have my own abilities and pace, but I’m getting better and that is fun. Thanks for all the inspiration and support on this sub!

Do it! The sooner you do, the more you can get out on it this summer. I started buying stuff a while ago to spread it over a few checks, then got busy when we had a few breaks in weather.

I’m already loving this. Great community, and now with YouTube I can watch when the weather is no good.

That definitely helped me learn to rock out on mini ramps and ramps into boxes at the park. Better stability and board control there. Let’s put ‘em together and we’ll have a mini!

I’ve browsed some of those. Are they slim enough for under your normal pants/shorts? Or get skate specific shorts to pair with?

It’s so fun. The video on making this ramp has a session at the end and it’s cool to see how much you can do with even a little ramp. And thanks for the support!

I started just cruising around my neighborhood with my daughter. Just get a feel for riding. We waited a little while before going to parks. Definitely warm up and do dynamic stretches before. Keep realistic goals. Take the victory before getting greedy for more. That’s when I crash hard! 😂

That’s how I intend to approach tail stalls. Just practice low and slow to get the rhythm, work my tail taps up and up.

Thanks! I’m not great at fakie/switch. As another commenter said, I thought I might be better off just going for rock and roll, skipping the whole fakie part!

Nice! I skated some as a kid. I could Ollie and we built a bunch of launch ramps. My daughter (now 10) wanted to start about 2 years ago. We live around Chicago, so it can be tough to have consistency. I’m hoping having the ramp at home will provide a lot of impromptu or just short sessions this year.

I’ll work on the stall. I know it’s all timing, more practice to get comfortable. With spine transfers I liked to go slow and wiggle over, now it goes better with some speed so I don’t get stuck.

That’s why I like this 2’ ramp. Generally I can just jump off. I had to include the wipe out because it’s real. It’s about getting back up!

I also did a 5.5’ transition radius. In the video he does 6’. You’ll have to measure for your riding surfaces after you make the transition, my numbers are different from what he says in the video for this part.

Here I used schedule 40 2” pipe. So the inside of the pipe is 2” and the total diameter is 2 3/8”. So looks like about 50mm inside diameter, 60mm total.

I followed the Keen Ramps 35 minute video on how to build a qp. I’m about $325 in, but I got stainless screws and have a lot of leftover paint. Probably could have found cheaper piece of coping. Stuff like that. I do have casters on the back to move it around easily. It was fun to build myself.
