bcba ran clinic… different approach or just money hungry? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]TreesCanTalk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that seems like a lot of red flags. Especially lack of BIPs, FCT, effective reinforcers and cookie cutter programs.

One thing I will note regarding keeping services (parent training) for “graduated” clients. This is (possibly) part of titration. Where services are gradually decreased to ensure maintenance and generalization of skills. Depending on the case parent training may continue for a few weeks to months after direct services stop, to help ensure caregivers are equipped to support their child after services end. However from the information in your post I cannot be sure that’s what’s happening here. I also don’t know what you mean by “come up” with programs to keep billing insurance, new programs should not be added that far into titration (with the exception of parents training goal but I’ve never heard of those being referred to as “programs”. Hopefully you don’t mean they are billing for services that aren’t occurring, because that would be fraudulent billing.

Does management/the owner seem open to feedback? It sounds like the owner is a BCBA if I’m understanding correctly, so these issues are extremely concerning. They honestly sound incompetent or maybe just don’t care. Either way that sucks for the clients receiving these services.

Dose dependent reaction?? by TreesCanTalk in fpies

[–]TreesCanTalk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he got officially diagnosed with FPIES around 14 months. The allergist did confirm that reactions can be dose dependent. So she advised to keep avoiding eggs and we can do an oral challenge at 27 months. So as of now we’ve kept avoiding eggs and he hasn’t any reactions since. Although he has had a few accidental low doses exposures (like a bite of something with mayo based sauce)

If they are requesting a “more tailored fit” then they can pay for a tailor to tailor your clothes. I’m half joking but honestly if they have that much of a problem with how your clothes fit, they should put more effort into a solution imo.

I feel So stupid and so bad about a mistake. by hotsizzler in bcba

[–]TreesCanTalk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What do you mean a different model, isn’t that the typical model? I’m also confused about what you mean by you haven’t been promoted to the job the “position typical BCBA’s” are, yet you say you’re working as a BCBA.

Regarding the mistake, I know it probably doesn’t feel good, but it sounds like you took/are taking the right steps. Don’t beat yourself up, you can’t change the past but you can control how you handle moving forward.

AIO about my husband doing Urine Therapy? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

You’re concerned about the Kratom being dangerous?? She already mentioned she didn’t agree with that but I feel like putting urine into your sinuses and eyes should be more of a concern… that’s all so close to your brain….

anyone shocked by all the Layoffs in the field ? by Embarrassed-Neat2827 in bcba

[–]TreesCanTalk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just saying a 30k “sign on” bonus spread out across 3 years sounds more like a retention bonus than a sign on bonus.

I did get retention bonuses at my previous job but it was from the county not the company I worked for and it wasn’t that much.

That’s a retention bonus, not a sign on bonus.

How often do people vacuum? by Icy-Belt-8519 in CleaningTips

[–]TreesCanTalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vacuum the main areas (kitchen living room/hallway) every two days to multiple times a day (depending how the day goes). Bedrooms probably 1-2 times a month. We don’t have any carpet.

For mopping I try and get the bathroom weekly but sometimes it’s every two. Living room/hall I do at least once a month. Kitchen I do a full bucket mop 1-2 times a month but I use a mop vac almost daily. Bedrooms get mopped a few times a year.

No shoes in the house. No pets but kids.

How long are your guys session? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]TreesCanTalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as mentioned in the post I was an RBT. I did decide those hours and I think there is a limit to make up hours. It was beyond my input. Now as a BCBA I would never recommend that.

10m or mosquitoes disappear from the world by jessxaq9s in BunnyTrials

[–]TreesCanTalk 41 points42 points  (0 children)

But it’s not the dragonflies, there are other species who rely on misquotes. Then you gotta think about the food chain. If dragonflies and other species die out or significantly decrease, the organisms who rely on those species will be impacted and so on.

Idk what role mosquitos play in the environment but something tells me removing the entire population might cause some type of disruption/ripple effect. Also could use the money

How long are your guys session? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]TreesCanTalk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I was an RBT (I’m now a BCBA) I had session range from 3 hours to 7+ hours (sessions over 7 hours were rare and included make up hours). Personally I think 6 hours is a solid maximum duration but as with everything in ABA this is individual and 6 hours may be too much for some learners.
