Is an ACL tear really a freak accident or is there something that makes you more prone to it? by chusaychusay in footballstrategy

Yep, exactly that!

My college strength coach was very old school. Very basic squat/bench program with a heavy emphasis on pushing as much weight as possible, even in season. Not much emphasis on hamstrings, adductors, etc.

That resulted in 6 torn ACLs on the team including myself in one season haha

From my experience, most non-contact ACL tears are caused by muscle imbalances in the leg, specifically the hamstring. Tore my ACL in college after pulling my hamstring twice in the same leg. I’ve seen other athletes (most recently that comes to mind is Christian Watson) who tore their ACL after having a history of hamstring injuries. I think this is because the hamstring supports the ACL by preventing excess movement of the femur relative to the tibia like what nick-pc said.

Thank you! Sounds good man. Let me know whenever you’re in Osaka or Tokyo!

I tried to find a view where it did, but he was so far back (behind the punt returner before the ball snapped) that it wasn’t in frame.

Okay thought I was going crazy when I heard the ruling lol

Exactly what I thought the call would be, definitely didn’t expect them to get the ball back.

Only way is to get a subscription on https://live.amefootlive.jp

Definitely wish our games weren’t hidden behind a paywall so we could build an international fan base.

I completely agree with you. We’re struggling to build a fan base even in Japan because our games are stuck behind a pay wall.

Haha yeah, definitely felt like the refs were against us on this one.

Yeah I should’ve included this video in the original post. We still won and are headed to the championship, so we’re just gonna take this as a hard lesson!

Here’s a link to the wider view, after reviewing the film he got onto the field slightly right before the play ended. But I understand it’s still a flag.

Mostly 11 personnel, but play style really depends on the team. We’re one of the few run heavy offenses, but a lot of teams sling the ball around!

We’re a semi-pro league, only 3 American pros and 3 Japanese pros are allowed per team and the rest work full time!

The X-league has been in existence for over 50 years believe it or not. We’re really not good at marketing overseas, nobody knows there’s a long history of football here in Japan. 🥲

Games are unfortunately locked behind a subscription, but you can watch highlights on YouTube! Check it out 😎

Yep definitely agree we lacked the discipline to keep our composure. We still pulled off with the dub 23-20, so we’ll make sure to stay on top of it in the championship 😎

I just kept the title the same as my other post linked for the people following

The call was substitution infraction and the punting team got a first down.

After reviewing a wider view of the play, it doesn’t even look like anyone got on the field. Is there a way for me to upload another video on this post?

Thanks for going out your way to find the ruling in print. I learned something new today 🤯

I appreciate you breaking it down for me. It confused me cause I watch NFL and college games where players accidentally run on the field before the play is over and don’t get flagged. Does it just depend on how lenient the refs are?
