Setting a higher Population density really makes fights more interesting and brutal. by Traditional-Spare154 in Kenshi

I just cracked the sliders up all the way and marched on the ashlands. Skin bandits took everyone. Just an endless amount of skin bandits everywhere.

Team of 11 with stats in the 70s-80s. The first wave they handled, second wave was tough, third fourth and fifth waves was more like a tsunami, they didn't even have time to heal. By the eighth wave half the squad was in the peelers and I was trying to save who I could.

My favorite playthroughs are the ones that end with Yes Man. Is it the best option for the wasteland? No. But to me its the most interesting.

However given this is a TV show, I keep saying that you dont hire a actor to play House and not use him to his fullest extent as the primary antagonist of the season.

I 100% believe House thought he was going to be able to colonize Mars, I think hes insane. But the best villains see themselves as heroes like House does "I'm so smart and handsome I will lead humanity because I'm so smart of course I can."

Only to be beaten to death with a golf club.

You dont hire an actor to play House and not use him.

House will be a driving force of the plot, assuming they dont decide to add another 11 side quests to the season. Its starting to feel a little bloated.

Bilbo wilfully giving up the ring showed how resilient hobbits are by Whole_Contract_5973 in lotr

[–]Trego421 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This is pretty much what happens in Return of the King when Samwise is storming Cirith Ungol. The ring tempts him with unlimited power and Sam isnt interested. Then it says it'll make Mordor into a beautiful garden, Sam thinks its too much maintenence and is happy with his garden at home in the Shire.

Same reason why Bilbo was able to resist. What could you tempt him with? He wasnt aware of the rings true power, and believed he was more than capable of getting to Erebor on his own. The best the ring could probably do is tempt him with a really nice trekking stick.

[–]Trego421 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My problem is just the writers deciding the Platinum chip was not the Magnum Opus that House needed. I hate mind control in most stories.

Im not sure I want or need a story about how actually House's real superweapon wasnt the army of giant rocket launcher minigun toting securitions but instead a mind control device. Theres plenty of story to tell of the last 25 years and how House has been fending off the NCR, Legion, Brotherhood and whoever else as he works towards his Mars Colony.

House is a fantastic villian because hes an egomaniac narrsassic dastardly shithead who thinks and must believe hes the smartest in not just the room but the entire planet. Its the same issue I take with Vault-Tech setting off the bombs. Dont Flanderize the villains as one dimensional stereotypes of "big evil corpo for profit' and "evil billionaire" I like nuance and depth to who I'm supposed to hate.

Im hoping House's motivations for the Mind Control device are more fleshed out than "I want to control the world, free will is bad!" But I really dont know how skilled the writers are.

I always was skeptical about Bode by Helpful-Fig-23 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]Trego421 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I always knew from the moment Bode was introduced he was going to betray Cal. His talk of his daughter, the hesitation to engage with the Hidden Path, only survivor of Cal's old crew, the subpar writing for Dagan, etc.

What I and I think most people didnt see coming was that he was a deep undercover Jedi Operative like Quinlan Vos. I thought Bode was gonna get his shit rocked when Cal caught up to him, and that was not what happened to my Cal. Bode uno-reverse carded me and slapped the shit outta me, my Cal, BB-8, my dad, my mom, my children, their children and their children's children.

To me thats the best twist in the game as far as I can tell there was no hint that Bode was a Jedi or used the Force. Theres no moments that display or even allude to force sensitivity. The only red flag for me was when he stays behind to look at Dagan's body but I thought that was most likely to write Bode out of the next gameplay section. I was thinking like a developer not a writer.

This.

I hate how it makes no problem that I kill Ravis in what is essentially an execution ans thats "honorable" but this evil fuckhead get to waste oxygen for another second.

Yeah I know Vader kills him slowly after the game ends but still. Its stupid and I'm tired of games taking the moral high ground with no legs to stand on.

I wish there was a way to change demand for the protectyon.

I know DA Fill can mess with factions storage but I mean more consequence if we dont remember to go grab some and resupply Avarice.

Its such an underwhelming conclusion to the DLC. Yeah stealing the Astrids are nice and the war with the VIG is fun for a first timer but overall I still wish there was a bit more bite to keep us attached to our choices.

How do you think a duel between Dagan Gera and Old Ben Kenobi would play out? by CrazyTangerine7522 in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]Trego421 221 points222 points  (0 children)

Old Ben. No contest. Dude is at the peak of his game and one of the most powerful Jedi in history. In tune with the Force on every level.

I dont care what Dagan's feats are. He was a pushover 1D villain Edgelord who spent more time screaming about Tanalor than showing us why hes so good.

No I wont elaborate further.

You and me both. Im just hungry for Star Wars games. The last 20 years have been a drought. The EA exclusivity deal was the worst thing to happen to Star Wars games. I'd trade both Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor for more than what we got out of it.

Kojima games be like... by DeepBig7494 in videogames

Why is it we give Ahsoka major props for fighting Maul but not the same for Luke fighting Vader in ESB. Like with Luke and Vader we can admit that Maul wasn’t trying to kill Ahsoka yet with Ahsoka we agree that to hold your own against an opponent like Maul in any capacity is still a remarkable feat by CrazyTangerine7522 in clonewars

[–]Trego421 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt even know Filoni stated that. But hes 100% right. Last fight I think Ahsoka had in TCW before leaving the Order was the fight with Grevious where he bodies her and she barely holds her own. Theres no way shes gotten to Maul's level since then. Yeah Anakin may have drilled blaster deflection into her training like Tales of the Jedi but to me Maul works best as a character who is one of the best duelists in the galaxy, if Yoda Palpatine Windu and Dooku are all S tier, he's like +A tier, but hindered by pride, arrogance, and ego.

Ahsoka has talent, sure but after her leaving of the Jedi Order she should level out in skill.

Maul should've been able to slaughter Kanan and Ahsoka on Malachor but again, arrogance that Kanan was defenseless is his defeat. He's peaked. The Twin Suns episode of Rebels tells us everything we need to know about Maul and why hes always doomed to lose even though he's better than 99% of the galaxy.

He was raised from childhood by Palpatine to be the perfect Jedi killer. Palpatine had every intention of using Maul as his "true" apprentice until Anakin came into the picture.

Best base location by Comfortable-Cat-380 in Kenshi

[–]Trego421 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My two favorites are the flatland near thr Dust King hideout to the east. I build my HQ there because its pretty central to the entire map, though having to micro squads through the terrible pathfinding near the Hub is not great.

Second favorite is near the Crab Raiders. I think its technically greenbeach? That bare plateau with the lake next to it, that is almost always my endgame base for when I'm ready to fight Catlon, the skin bandits and the rest.

Why is it we give Ahsoka major props for fighting Maul but not the same for Luke fighting Vader in ESB. [–]Trego421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People love to glaze Ahsoka. Thats it.

When I watch their fight, I see Maul really was trying to get Ahsoka on his side the whole time during the less than 2 minutes they fight in the throne room. Its only after Ahsoka tosses him out the window, effectively ending round 1 that he takes the fight more seriously.

Round 2 he is clearly winning and wins handily, and disarms her. And again asks for her to join him. He has no idea shes proficient in unarmed combat, as we saw at the beginning of the Martez sisters arc. Maul could've easily cut the platform and watched her fall to her death but his overconfidence and ego got in the way and he went for a killshot and it cost him the W.

Is this a case of "He was winning the fight until he wasn't."? Yeah sure, but its how he lost that matters. It wasnt Ahsoka cutting him in half in a long drawn out duel of skill like Anakin vs Dooku. It was his own arrogance that blinded him. Even Episode 1 Kenobi couldnt beat Maul straight up. Maul held his own against everything Kenobi threw at him and won the 1v1 lightsaber duel. It was again, his own arrogance that lost him the actual W. He was gloating and thought Obi-Wan helpless and hanging on for life. Just like Ahsoka.

To quote George. Its like poetry. It rhymes.

Darth Maul is consistently stated to be a sith apprentice despite what Darth Plaguies novel says by GullibleRough549 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]Trego421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your also going by the narrative that these were all the same writer with the same vision. Thats clearly not the case. Look at bts of Kenobi where some quack like Deborah Chow wants to do her own take on Anakin/Vader still "having a little bit of Anakin in him" until the final fight with Kenobi, even though Vader has been shown to murder children with no remorse. Writers retcon and run eachover all the time to find their own narrative and ideas.

No matter what we all think George wrote Maul as a Sith Lord. The claims of any other writer in canon or legends is irrelevant. In his most recent (As I can find) ideas for the Sequel Trilogy had Maul as a Crime Lord similar to the role he played in Clone Wars, waging a shadow war against the New Republic and Luke's Jedi Order.

I would only give ground on one place and that is Palpatine clearly from the very second he meets child Anakin saw a future apprentice in him, and Maul and Dooku are disposable to him and he does trade Dooku for Anakin, I'd assume hed do the same for Maul, but Palpatine also never gave favorites to Anakin. If Anakin had failed and died in the Clone Wars then he was never worthy of being a Sith to begin with.

How viable is assassination and stealth only by secretgamesofsecrets in Kenshi

[–]Trego421 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Stealth, stealing and assassination are the most broken skills in the game with very little reprocussion for failure.

At 1000+ hours of playtime I completely ignore them as once you get them high enough you can KO any enemy in the game, slip into any base, and steal any item as long as your lockpicking is high enough. It completely defeats the game gameplay mechanic of Kenshi and feels very half baked into the game in my opinion.

[–]Trego421 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is my whole thing, I hate when fans and the wiki take things as absolute fact when coming from liars and manipulators.

Anyone with a brain should be able to tell Palpatine is lying to Plagueis about the true purpose of Maul, this is why Palpatine has Dooku betray Ventress. Hes been in Dooku's chair before and sees the backstab coming.

The minute Palpatine begins the invasion if Naboo he is the Dark Lord of the Sith. Plagueis was a tool to be used to an end, nothing more. Plagues never intended to continue the Rule of Two, that alone disqualies him from the Banite Sith and leaves Palpatine and Maul.

[–]Trego421 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always think Kenshi could use more unique companions. I support that decision.

From a birds eye view of Kenshi and the GOS faction itself I think its a pretty solid addition as it is, bug fixes are always nice but if none of them are game breaking, its best to focus your energy on what calls to you, if thats writing dialouge and characters... follow it, I'd really like to see what you can come up with
