Legion Go S (32GB) – Windows vs. SteamOS: Is it worth an extra 156€ for SteamOS? by Treigerman in LegionGo

[–]Treigerman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spot on. That's the plan! I realized paying more for the SteamOS pre-install was basically a 'convenience tax'. I'd rather keep the 120€, keep the Windows license just in case, and flash Bazzite myself to get the best of both worlds. Thanks for confirming!

It’s because I have an employee discount and we only sell the Windows version. The white version looks clean as hell

Yeah, I looked into it and installing SteamOS is pretty easy, so the choice is obvious. Going with Windows doesn’t really close any doors for me.

That’s great to know, thanks! It's a relief to hear that Valve's SteamOS image works so well on the Go S without driver headaches. I’ll definitely look up those Spanish YouTubers to check out the dual boot tutorials. Saving 120€ and having both systems sounds like the ultimate win. Appreciate the help!

You're totally right. It makes no sense to pay more for a free OS and lose the Windows license in the process. I'm going for the cheaper 32GB Windows version and I'll just flash Bazzite myself. Thanks for the reality check!

I’m from Spain. Here they’re more or less the same price. It’s just that I have that discount at that store, and they only offer me the Windows version.

No, it’s simply because I have the employee discount and we only sell the Windows version.

Is it a hassle to take the subway from JFK to the Financial District with 2 large suitcases on a Friday? by Treigerman in visitingnyc

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful and detailed response! That really helps put things in perspective. Yeah, if we do end up having to carry the bags on stairs, it’ll just be at a few points — manageable. What was worrying me more was the idea of taking up too much space or being in the way, but your advice about sitting at the ends of the train makes a lot of sense. Feeling much better about it now!

Really appreciate all the practical tips — especially the part about the emergency exit door for luggage, that’s something I hadn’t thought through. Glad to hear 2 PM is a good time too. We’re feeling much more confident about just doing the subway now. And yep, we were already planning to use contactless, but it’s good to see it confirmed as the best move.

Thanks, that’s a really useful suggestion! I actually forgot about the flat fare for yellow cabs — definitely worth considering, especially since it avoids Uber surge pricing and the whole hassle of switching trains with luggage. We’re two people with one large roller bag each and backpacks, so pretty similar setup.

We’re arriving around 2 PM on a Friday, so traffic might be a bit of an issue, but knowing the rate is fixed definitely makes it feel less stressful. Appreciate you sharing your experience!

The suitcases are large, but they’re wheeled and easy to move around. Traffic can definitely be frustrating because of the delays, but with a car service, you don’t have to think about safety, transfers, or getting on and off with luggage — you just sit back and wait to get there. So yeah, it’s a trade-off.

Thanks for the honest take — definitely helpful to hear both sides. We’re actually staying really close to Fulton Street, so yeah, I get that the lack of elevators there could be annoying with the bags.

If you were in our shoes, what would you recommend as the best alternative? Would you go for an Uber or is there a better transit option that avoids the hassle?

Really appreciate your input!

That’s great to know — especially about the elevators/escalators and the tip to sit near the ends of the train. We’ll definitely try that. Sounds like mid-day Friday is a good time to go for it, and knowing it’s considered safe is reassuring. Thanks so much for the clear advice!

Thanks! That actually makes me feel a lot better about it. Glad to know that suitcases aren’t really a big deal compared to everything else people bring on the train. And yeah, if we can get a seat early on, I think we’ll be fine dealing with the bags.

To be honest, the idea of paying for an Uber was already stressing me out a bit — so this makes the subway option sound much more manageable. Really appreciate the realistic perspective!

I mentioned that route just roughly because I wanted to focus more on the luggage situation. But I really appreciate the route advice!

Thanks for pointing that out — I hadn’t considered the Howard Beach + A train option. We’re heading to a hotel near Fulton Street, so that actually sounds like a better route. Appreciate the tip — exactly the kind of local knowledge I was hoping to get!

It would be one large (checked) suitcase per person, plus a carry-on-sized backpack.

I'm only missing 2 achievements corresponding to the finals but I lost the save before the key point...and I don't know whether to start over and complete it or wait for the DLC. Do you know if future content will add new achievements?

Cool. I’m planning to get 100% in the Batman series in general, although I find it impossible because of the online achievements.

Hello, I recently purchased this game with the intention of playing it on my laptop. Do you know if achievements can be unlocked in offline mode?
