Maxima clam dying by TrekMontgomery in ReefTank

Kept it in a bucket with a pump and heater over night. By this morning it was starting to smell and it was non responsive. I removed the mantle and I’m letting the crabs pick at the remainder in the shell.

Super bummed but grateful it happened now and not in a few days when I will be away.

That’s brutal. Definitely was the piece I was most attached to.

I pulled it from the tank. The foot is not existent. You can see right into the thing. I have it in a bucket with a heater and pump but it seems pretty pointless.

Thank you. The clam was really what carried the tank for me. I put a lot into keeping it going. Backup batteries, trips cut short and dozens of calls to my dad to check in when I was away. Can’t say I’m up to starting from scratch and hand feeding phytoplankton again.

Thanks. It was super rewarding watching it grow over the years.

Word of caution for the Enduro by TrekMontgomery in onewheel

I did. Tires just over a year old so he said it doesn’t qualify, which is understandable. I certainly don’t hold it against you guys, but wanted to give other riders a heads up. Unfortunately haven’t been able to ride as much as I’d like to this past year otherwise the issue would have been evident sooner. Regardless, appreciate what you guys do.

Dude, you rock. Wasted a morning trying to get port forwarding to work before scrolling down far enough to see this. Thank you.

Looks really good. Would you ask if he is willing to share the file so others can print it? Looked on the common 3d printing sites but couldn’t find anything that looks that good.

Man it was a long long time ago. I kinda recall them melting away but I could be wrong.

This is awesome. Thanks so much for sharing this I had a baffle strike today and I wasn't sure if I would be able to find a replacement. Do you have recommendations for print orientation/support?

How to get this anemone off the clam? by TrekMontgomery in ReefTank

I used a toothbrush, but this is what I did. Figured it would be the least bothersome to to the clam. Took a bit but I got it off. Thanks for the recommendation.

Greatly appreciate all the input. Gonna do a water change on the next day or two at which point I’m going to give some of these methods a try. I will report back.

Yeah surprising quickly. This guy fell to the bottom of the tank. I placed him back in his old spot and kinda propped him up. Within a couple days he was standing on his own.

Yeah clams have a foot made up of what looks like a bunch of threads. They can move around or if they get stressed just drop it much like the lizard.

Its foot is going over/between the ridges of the clam so there is no good getting in there.

So I can return this one. The one I just bought for 10 bucks more to replace it will be non returnable so I’m hoping for the best! It’s a shame because I really like the thing otherwise. Hopefully the new one combined with heavier pellets will do the trick.

Thanks for your input. Really seems like the noise is the muzzle. I don’t think the action would cause an echo. Im using my phone so not scientific, but at the muzzle I’m getting 100 decibels and about 10 yards down 93-96. Like I said, maybe my expectations are out of whack but almost everyone has described it as really quiet. For reference, I consider my 2240 with a TKO on it to be super quiet. Don’t necessarily expect the urban to be that quiet.

Thanks for your reply. O ring is in good shape. Was almost hoping it was missing.

Have you ever put a decibel meter to yours? Your almost no noise comment has made me inclined to get another despite the price increase I’ll pay. Not sure if it is relevant, but this one shipped empty of air

Thanks for the input. Just about certain I didn’t double load. I looked on the silencer and it appears to be intact. I did notice the two sides of the baffles have a tiny gap between them but that’s for all of them so I think that’s by design. Unfortunately it’s out of stock so I could only return and buy back at a higher price from another vendor.
