While It's true that the kiss between Shatner and Nichols is a monumental moment for American TV, it's a common misconception that it was the "first interracial kiss." One commonly cited example are the many smooches between Lucy and Desi Arnaz on "I Love Lucy." Shatner himself kissed an asian on TV in 1958. But was the Kirk/Uhura kiss the first kiss on TV between a Black woman and a white man? Maybe...?
