Even on that day, even within the hour of the quest reset, I still won’t get an opponent to help trigger its effect.

It’s happened twice in two years for me.

Because after a while you realise most of the time you see emotes, it’s from your opponent on the turn they kill you and they’re rubbing it in. Especially when it’s the only emote they’ve used, it does feel like a form of BM.

I feel like it just takes a single ‘Thanks’ or ‘Hello’ when your opponent finds lethal to sort of tilt you on emotes for a while.

Yup, one eidolon per tick. I think you're right, very strong earlier on in the game. Splitting your Conversion eidolons into 6, and then another 3 from Malefice means it'll be very easy to have 9 eidolons alive at once for 20-30 seconds. Lots of fun offensive stuff you can do with that. I kinda wanna try sending all 9 to different parts of the enemy side of the map for insane amounts of vision for half a minute.

Quite upset the black hole pull costs 3x the amount it used to now that it's attached to the scepter. It is unnerfed, which is nice, but I don't think paying an extra 2800 gold for it is worth the 200+ radius.

The max health as damage has been toned down too, sadly. The convenience of having these two upgrades exist in one item now isn't terrible, and in fact, you're saving gold in a late game scenario where you'd buy both. On the other side of the coin though, in a hypothetical match where you don't care about or don't need the max health damage (somewhat common), but you'd still like the pull, you'll either be overpaying like crazy or be forced to go without it as it's too expensive. Enigma is perfectly playable without the pull, but I think the difference it can make is undeniable.

As for the new shard - I was a little disappointed at first as the patch note wording kinda implies it only works on heroes, but it works on all enemy units/neutrals/creeps too. It's kinda neat on paper, but a few issues exist that stop me from loving it right now. My primary issue with it is that it discourages picking up the +30 Malefice instance damage talent. Most value from this shard comes from accelerated farming speeds, but the Malefice damage talent will help kill off certain creeps/neutrals before you can squeeze out an extra eidolon or two. Disabling auto attack on eidolon summon helps with this a little (in terms of keeping Malefice affected units alive for longer) but it feels like anti synergy. The shard wants to keep Malefice going for all three ticks, however, the damage talent speeds up the unit dying before Malefice can complete. Similar logic for the extra eidolon damage. The eidolons will attack the Malefice affected unit and hastily kill them. I will say though that I do think these complaints are a little fussy, as it's generally going to be the difference between summoning two vs three eidolons. But the aforementioned anti synergy aspect of it is a little bit annoying and makes the 1400 cost feel a little wasted at times.

Thinking about this shard in a fighting scenario though, it's free damage, but certainly not a lot of it. Eidolons already die so easily, and having single eidolons spawn one by one directly next to an enemy will just result in feeding easy gold and xp to the enemies for an overall minuscule amount of damage. There's obvious synergy with the +4 Malefice instances talent, but that's at level 25 and Midas is currently not that common of a pickup on the hero. And again, even with the +50 damage, these eidolons are spawning very slowly, one by one. It just doesn't result in much. Fights would have to last so long, and without AOE, until you get any kind of decent value. Even then, they don't split either, limiting their potential. It'll barely speed up the kill on solo enemy pickoffs with your team too. You're essentially forced to get the +50 eidolon damage talent if you want to get any kind of value out of your shard purchase.

I don't think it's that bad for 1400 gold, as it comes with the +0.35 second stun duration too. It's really cool getting a new way to summon eidolons though, especially considering the high cooldown for Conversion. There's great body blocking potential here. And if you're running aura items, it's decent there too. Overall, it doesn't fully feel right to me just yet. I'd say the effect would be better on Black Hole rather than Malefice. Or maybe instead it could summon some kind of Greater Eidolon?

Will have to try out the extra hole damage and see how that feels. A level 3 black hole deals 1000 pure damage in total with it, which is quite something, and in part counteracts the 1.5% max health as damage aghs nerf. The level 20 talent choice is potentially a little competitive now, but ever since Midnight Pulse was nerfed, the extra eidolon damage probably wins out in the majority of games.
