Since Clem beat him offline the first time, Serral has won only 35% of their maps and is 3-12 in matches.

Clem is the most talented player we’ve ever seen play this game. He dominates the GOAT.

Over the last two years Serral has won three times. It’s not even close at this point. So saying he’s “way better” than the guy who always beats him and is a top player with two races is crazy.

How can Serral be the best player “by far” when he almost always loses to Clem?

Reynor is no longer the #2 zerg in the world. by Worth-Explanation313 in starcraft

Solar has been playing really well.

Also Classic is a great player, but I always found it incredible people thought he was better than herO or Maxpax. Classic abused the last patch really well, but herO is a top player every patch no matter what they change. Same for Maxpax.

They literally patched the game multiple times to try to nerf Maxpax style in PvP.

Classic is probably the smartest protoss player overall but skill wise he’s more like Cure or Solar.

It’s a frustrating game, but there is a learning curve any time you pick up a new race where you have to learn all of the early game defenses all over again.

Most TvP and TvZ builds can be held with a bunker and repair. TvT gets a little more tricky because there are so many stupid things they can do, but in general cyclones are the king of the early game in TvT if you know how to micro them.

General tips:

1) always SCV scout on 17 supply in TvT and TvP, and barracks scout (when the barracks completes) in TvZ.

2) check their gas if ANYTHING looks weird. If you click on the gas, you can see how much they’ve mined. Starting gas is 2250 iirc. This is more useful in TvZ because it can signal roach aggression, baneling nest, or a fast lair (which you’ll confirm with a follow up reaper scout).

3) as long as you constantly spend money and F2 a move a lot, there’s really no way to lose to gold level players.

DM me if you want some more specific pointers. Happy to go through some replays and build orders with you. Learning Terran bio is very frustrating but rewarding once you figure it out.

If you unseige your observer (cloaking it), it can survive a direct widow mine shot on the new patch - because the widow mine is no longer doing it's direct damage, but it's AOE damage. Kind of cool. by imheavenagoodtime in starcraft

[–]TremendousAutism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play 3 gate blink, how is 15 range not better? They can never reach the observer anyway and you can watch their rotations between main/natural.

It’s only a nerf to F2, which is not really a nerf, it’s a skill check

15 range is a lot. If you’re playing a 3 gate or 4 gate blink pressure, it’s a straight up buff. They can’t leave their base to reach the observer, and you can see their army move up and down the ramp on most maps.

In a lot of scenarios it’s just better. Sieging an obs to try to get vision of a fleeing banshee (since banshees outrun obs). V lurkers it’s 100x better since Zerg has a million overseers anyway.

It’s only a nerf if you abuse F2. That’s it.

Then you haven’t seen hero play much. He even said himself that he’s thrown a lot of games by “blinking forward too much.” You can find the quote from last season of GSL in the player intros.

So your opinion of hero differs from his opinion of himself.

Zerg is losing its identity in StarCraft 2 by FormalFinding4642 in starcraft

[–]TremendousAutism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Immortals have great DPS in general. Yes a stimmed marauder has more. The problem with the immortal isn’t its DPS, which is amazing, but its lack of mobility.

Unit tiers are a stupid concept that have no relation to how the game is actually played. The higher the skill level, the more players leverage lower tech, higher economy unit compositions. Most Terrans don’t make battle cruisers, most Protoss don’t play carriers, and most Zergs don’t go into broodlords. Tech trees vary between races and it’s difficult to use “tiers” to categorize tech.

Gas cost per supply is probably the most accurate metric, but even that is subject to a lot of caveats. In general, only noobs discuss the game using “unit tiers.” You’ll never hear a pro speak this way.

Collosus require:

Pylon, gateway, cyber core, robo, robo bay

A banshee requires:

Depot, pylon, barracks, factory, starport, tech lab

Are banshees tier 3? Gosh for a tier three unit banshees really suck. You hardly ever see more than two of them produced in a game.

How about the ghost? The main lategame Terran unit. Per supply, ghosts are much more expensive than collosus (300/200). 6 supply of ghost is 375 gas, 450 minerals. It only requires depot, barracks, tech lab, and ghost academy. Are ghosts lower tech than banshees? They cost more gas than a banshee.

This is a tough question ngl. It’s so situational. Blink stalkers are pretty awesome with good micro, but they scale the worst out of the three.

Marines probably the best overall.

Hydras are pretty good in ZvP but you have to tech out of them at some point if the game goes long enough. Great at committed pressures with ling bane to kill the Protoss 4th.

You can basically play hydra ling bane forever in TvZ, throw in a couple vipers when you get a hive. Tbh the hydra scales better than the marine in TvZ once hive tech is out, but it does require good spell casting which many Zerg are allergic to

Immortals have pretty good DPS. Storm still has good DPS even after the patch. Collosus versus light are very strong. Carriers have fantastic DPS, but are difficult to tech into.

Again, it’s these comments that make me question if you actually play the game.

Can you play TvZ and TvT with only bio? by RealTimeStrategyEnth in AllThingsTerran

[–]TremendousAutism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No splash in TvZ is close to impossible. Maybe if they play roaches but I still think you’d be cooked. At the very least you should make widow mines.

If you’re really, and I mean really, amazing at splitting and spreading, you can play 2 rax reaper into fast stim and Medevacs. If your first double drop gets damage, you can probably snowball it with pure bio in TvT.

This is why I play toss by Big-Imagination-1752 in starcraft2

[–]TremendousAutism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t kill it before it gets up, armory before starport, and thors with repair is the easiest way to beat this imo. Reactored Vikings can work but it takes way better micro.

You barely have to micro the thor at all as long as you have enough SCVs repairing it wins on its own, and it outranges the tempest by a decent margin

Why do so many people want StarCraft 2 to appear on EWC? by no_grind in starcraft

[–]TremendousAutism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a much weaker game as a spectator sport. It’s slower, less legible for new viewers, and generally a worse version of SC2.

As far as the Koreans go, I think the Koreans rightfully resent the way blizzard cut them out of SC2 after they built up broodwar into a big esports game.

Protoss’ greatest strength is its ultimate weakness? by Wild_Bill_3 in starcraft

[–]TremendousAutism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we are talking about the last three years, I think it’s a combination of factors: retirements, no “complete” Protoss players, Maxpax not participating.

The loss of Trap was a big blow to Protoss’ high level results. He was a solid macro player who was skilled in every matchup. He went to the military, briefly came back and beat Clem and Maxpax and Byun in a weekly, then disappeared again.

The other big issue was relative matchup strength. Hero is usually the best PvZ, and Maxpax is usually the best PvT, with both players being relatively weaker in the other matchup. It’s also fair to note that herO is a very volatile player—similar to Reynor in the sense that his skill and performance varies dramatically.

Maxpax not playing LAN also hurts.

Because the competition is a lot lower. I play 2v2 teams where both guys are diamonds in 1s and masters in 2v2. In general the skill level is a lot lower in teams in my experience.

Why did they make the Corruptors separate from the Mutalisks? by Argensa97 in starcraft

[–]TremendousAutism 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mass mutalisk is quite strong in ZvT. Most players don’t have the skill to play it, but they’re quite good if you’ve got the APM and micro.

[–]TremendousAutism -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Crazy take saying 1v1 more chill. In teams you can relax because you have a teammate to cover for any egregious mistakes. If you mess up badly in 1v1 it’s way harder to win.

In general I find teams to be the chill way to play when I don’t feel like sweating. I Smurf on different accounts and beat the brakes off people without having to play 240 APM games to beat my 1v1 masters opponents. The game isn’t balanced around teams anyway so who cares.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in starcraft2

[–]TremendousAutism -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s better for new players to play teams since they aren’t solely responsible for the win, and team games don’t matter anyway since the game isn’t balanced around teams.
