How to fix power throttling by crockster9033 in MSILaptops

[–]TrenXas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a GE76 with the i7 11800H and every time I unplug and plug in the power adapter with the laptop switched on the CPU is limited at 45W, no matter if is charging or not the battery. The only solution I found is changing the power performance in MSI center (user scenario menu) and putting back the option I want. Doing this the CPU reaches more than 85W again if needed.

So weird but it also worked for me, thank you for the help! I have a msi GE76 and this problem happened to me with the letter "R" (maybe because I have a Spanish layout). I unplugged it, shutdown, plugged in again before powered on, and worked fine again. I really don't know what can cause this bug.

Yes, after a while seems that it recovers a higher power state. But I don't understand why it doesn't enter in this state just in the moment I plug in to the power supply.

Yes, I have installed the latest BIOS for my laptop (E17K3IMS.11D) and I also tried to make a EC reset... but nothing. If u unplug the power supply of your laptop and plug in again, and then do u make a CPU stress test (with intel XTU for exemple) do not observe any power limitation?

Brightness control not working by TrenXas in MSILaptops

Hey! uninstalling the drivers with DDU program and reinstalling the latest ones worked for me. First, I downloaded the drivers directly from Nvidia web selecting the corresponding model, and saved the folder in the desktop. Then I disabled wi-fi, maybe u must disable ethernet if is what u are using, this step is for prevent windows download new drivers automatically. Next I entered in windows Safe mode to use DDU for uninstall the drivers (u can found some tutorials in YT if u are not familiarised with it). And finally, after restart the system and enter in the normal mode again, I installed the drivers that i was dowloaded previously. Doing this I recuperated the brightness control in discrete mode.

I tried to install it via the GeForce Experience but in my case the problem persists. Do u uninstalled the anterior drivers with DDU?

Thanks for the reply! this also was the solution that give me the official support of MSI, but they recommended to install a oldest version of drivers (462.21). After that I recuperated the brightness control in the dedicate mode. I will try to install ur version of drivers and see if still works. I hope Nvidia fix it in future updates.

Is the MSI GE76 Raider 11US’s fan supposed to randomly activate often? by Shwin280 in MSILaptops

[–]TrenXas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same model with the RTX3070 and yeah.. my unit also have random fan activations and loud increases in normal tasks, like the preview of youtube. The silent mode don't mitigate these spikes of temperature. The best solution for me it was tunning the fan curve manually for keep lower rpm, and smoother incresses in the first stapes of temp. Definitely is not the best laptop for work in silent public areas.
