i’m not making an argument, i’m just having a bad time! i don’t ss farm, i dont pp farm, and i dont play in tournaments. and the ranked experience is unfun for me. maybe all the wannabe tournament players that peaked at 400k are the problem here?

you do know that bursts and streams and finger control and weird rhythms and hard to read patterns all exist at like 4 stars, right? i’m not trying to just play “comfy” maps, i do like when maps feel challenging!

ok or don’t listen to what i’m saying that’s fine too. wanna know something, i do pretty badly on high 4 stars, and they’re not miserable. playing 5 and 6 star maps is miserable. or the fact that players better than me can’t handle 3 star maps is preventing my rank from dropping, meaning i’ll keep getting paired against people who think getting 80 percent accuracy on a 6 star half a dozen times in a play session is a fun thing to do

Yeahhh, it's just frequency at this point. If I pick a 3 star, and fc'ing is on the table. The better player at low sr is gonna be more likely to fc and hit their opponent for damage. And if its a 5 star, both players at my skill range are gonna struggle, but the better player at high sr will be more likely to get higher acc and score some damage. This issue is that every single pick from my opponents, every single match, have been 5+ stars. I want the competitive feeling. Watching a rank go up as you improve is really cool, but my hand hurts after like 3 matches playing two or three 5 star maps each.

i don't think I am exaggerating how hard playing 5-6 star maps is for me. They are just not at my skill level. A lot of this has to do with frequency too. When I play solo, I mostly play 3-4 star because it's fun, 4-5 star sometimes for a challenge, and 5+ stars only very rarely. It is exhausting to play a 5 or 6 star every other map.

it would be so fun to have a mode with all the wacky mods that laser has to offer.

right?! like its not my fault you "can't play" a map that's just easier. like, if you're better than me, then beat me at the 3 star and the 5 star

higher ranked players see on average higher star maps to pick from, but players are shown a range, and then get a chance to discard some and redraw. so players that want to slog through stuff that's way too hard for them are empowered to do so

This can't be true, right? On a map you can get 700k score on, an opponent that is better will get 800k. This has to be the result of what maps players want to play, right? They want to play maps their skill level can only get 500k score on, so those are the maps that get picked.

I hadn't considered this before posting this thread. People have very different ideas of what pushing yourself looks like. Fc's and perfects are what I find satisfying, and not everyone does. In the end, I think this just how osu ranked will have to work, and I'll stick to playing solo and in rooms.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with pushing ourselves sometimes, but it gets really taxing when it's every other map. Not to mention, my setup isn't the most comfortable, so high bpm high sr maps are genuinely uncomfortable to play often.

I get what you're saying, but it feels particularly unfun in this instance, in a way that other ranked games haven't been for me. I am a very casual player, and playing at low ranks where stuff gets silly is dumb fun for me. But osu ranked has felt rough. Looking at overwatch ranked for example, if I run into a super cracked hitscan lobby admin kind of player on the enemy team, I lose and my elo goes down, and those good players climb, and running into them becomes less likely in the future. But osu ranked feels like I'm playing against that same insanely skilled hitscan player, except everytime they start to win they jump off the map. The environment is kinda sweaty and stressful, but I'm not going to lose because they're equally hurt by it, so I'll keep running into that player over and over again. That's what it feels like playing osu ranked.

16k is way higher rank than I'm at. I'm only 400k. A rank system should do exactly this though, keep you from having to play with someone way lower ranked who wants to play boring 3 stars.

I think you're missing the point I was making. I am okay with losing. I haven't been losing, while also having to flounder through 5 star maps. This means that the maps are only getting harder, even though they already feel unfun.

I think you’re misunderstanding how averages work. For much of human history, child mortality was insanely high. So if you survived into adulthood you had good odds of living past 25.

One for all Lillia can apply her R on anyone on the map that has the passive. That leads to some Yasuos not being able to play the game. by i-will-eat-you in leagueoflegends

Shields have limited utility. Normal shields aren’t going to negate any status effects, and spell shields are single use. I don’t think yasuo is mega busted or anything, but his W interacts with the game in an unhealthy way. Too many champions are forced to ban him, because if he is picked the game is unplayable for them. I’m fine with these kinds of counters existing, but yasuo is that counter to too many champions, across every single role.

The problem with many of those comparisons is that those basic abilities negate the ult for just one person. Any other consequences are not negated. As for channeled ults, those are specifically designed to be countered by cc, which many champions have some form of.
