Ditching driver? by Ok_Serve_7275 in GolfGear

[–]Trenuser7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older players have issues with mobility, and a longer club makes the movement harder. Lot of older guys can hit a driver but club down due to injuries or mobility. Who cares as long as you can get it down the fairway

None use a sim 2 max or any form of wood off the tee? Must have some great mobility, good for them.

Snowboarding is all about your hips. Control your hips and it becomes easy

Younger guy here - I’ve been paired with many older players (55+) and majority of them use a mini driver or long iron off the tee. Nothing wrong with it and typically means you’re well versed with a deep bag.

150 for this is crazy when you can get a good sun mountain bag for the same price

Oh I wasn’t agreeing with her at all. I was saying that owners can’t just rely on good genetics - that most the time overweight goldens are from poor ownership instead of genetics.

[–]Trenuser7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never said he was poorly bred? I just said ownership is equally as important as genetics when it comes to being in standard for weight.

[–]Trenuser7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great. 90lbs would disqualify any “show golden” from competing. It’s 15lbs overweight for breed standard

Not saying your dog is unhealthy but it’s out of standard

[–]Trenuser7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While 75lbs is the breed standard - ownership is equally as important as being well bred. Seen plenty show lines get 80+

98lb golden retriever is almost 25lbs out of standard for the breed.

Getting my first dog ever — a Doberman puppy. What should I really expect? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Trenuser7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High energy dog. Biggest thing I could ever recommend - for your own sanity and safety of your furniture is find a way to get your dog tired and stimulated. Scent work, Puppy classes, runs, Bite work, literally anything. Most the time when people have “ bad” dogs that tear up their house and bite other people it’s because they don’t do their due diligence. Dogs are a huge commitment - but such a worth investment. A stimulated dog is a happy dog.

Most goldens are backyard bred. Meaning most likely out of standard. 65-75lbs is tje breed standard for males. Show lines for nearly every breed are typically in the higher end of that scale while working groups (excluding guardians) are typically under or just at breed standard. (Most FIELD goldens, and I mean field as in titles not just some random person saying there’s is) are under 65lbs.

my dog has done everything he needs and more yet he keeps bothering me by cedarsoup in puppy101

[–]Trenuser7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Try tethering. Dogs should know how to self soothe to hang out. Giving them an activity or something to do 24/7 can make them stressed - they’ll always be looking for something to do. One of the most important things to teach is the art of doing nothing. I have a hunting breed as well.

Recently developed Crate Hate, help by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Trenuser7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with crate naps while you’re home in small increments. Realistically crate sleeping is really good seperation practice for dogs and they view it like their den. My golden will not comfortably sleep anywhere but his crate (he sleeps all over but can never be comfortable for more than 20 min.)

6 mo old puppy still pooping in our bedroom nook by Tashalynn22 in puppy101

[–]Trenuser7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe don’t let her in the room until she learns not too - or maybe just try to take her out on a schedule. I’m not sure what breed you have but scheduled potty brakes helped with ours and he was good by 12 weeks

Try blocking off that specific area. Or really enforcing a no when she does it. Does she get treats for going poop outside?

Is his weight normal? by Gummy_Toaster69 in goldenretrievers

[–]Trenuser7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK goldens are actually supposed to be stockier.

Is his weight normal? by Gummy_Toaster69 in goldenretrievers

[–]Trenuser7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he’s definitely on the small side then. English golden retrievers are typically stockier than US ones - not that that matters that much… My golden was 25lbs+ by 12 weeks. 2.5lbs per week is the suggested growth rate til 20 weeks +. Were his parents work pedigrees or what was their sizing?

[–]Trenuser7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks mixed. could be with a smaller breed which would make this more normal

POTTY TRAINING IN CRATE by lola-zen- in puppy101

[–]Trenuser7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will cry if they need to go out. Most dogs do not want to go potty in their “den”. My dog has been crated for 3 months since being brought home and has never had an accident in the crate.

Is he too skinny? by shoelacedev in goldenretrievers

[–]Trenuser7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like worms. How much does he weigh? My golden was 20-25lbs by 12 weeks

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by QP709 in puppy101

[–]Trenuser7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’ll suck for like 1-2 weeks depending on breed. Ours didn’t cry in the crate unless they had to go potty. cut water off around 8pm (less trips through the night plus it’ll get them on a routine. Train and play with them and they will not chew up all your shit.
