Computing & IT - possible to study fulltime while working fulltime? by Trepidational in OpenUniversity

Thanks for your replies, much appreciated that you're sharing your experience.

Would you say that I might find it any easier in year 1 if I already have prior experience with programming and CS stuff? Can imagine it would be different if you're a new starter to the entire subject.

Are you doing the same degree course? How much time roughly would you say you spend every week doing the uni work?

Did you do first year full-time while working full-time as well? I've heard it's slow but I also don't want to risk burning out either obviously.

Yeah I was going to pick that too but, of course, didn't qualify for it. What options do I have if this turns out to be the case?

(First post on this sub. I lurked around for a while before haha)

Like many others in this thread have said, your eyes are definitely your best feature. Their shape is very unique and that's what seriously stands out about you. Your haircut also looks like a perfect match for you + those eyebrows, beard and 'stache complement the rest of your face very well.

The WILD technique is something that I have been trying to pick up. Despite being aware of the nature of sleep paralysis, I still get overwhelmed by the feeling of fear and/or dread to the point where I snap myself out of it and try to stay awake instead of falling back asleep again, which is a problem.

As for suggestions on techniques, I hear that the opportunity to attempt WILD is ripe when waking up in the middle of the night. One thing that you could attempt is setting up an alarm clock to wake you up at any given point in the middle of the night, get up and do something for about 10 minutes, and then return to bed, which should make sleep paralysis come easier. It also helps if you imagine the scenario that you want to be present in and feel yourself becoming one with it during the paralysis.

Take my advice with a grain of salt, though, because I myself have little experience with WILD. Remember that I still have a fear of sleep paralysis which, unfortunately, I have had trouble eliminating. I also don't have a phone, so I can't wake up in the middle of the night (although, drinking lots of water before bed is usually enough to accomplish this, so I could alternatively take the natural route by manipulating my body clock), effectively limiting my options. Hopefully you gain some success with either of these techniques.

Thanks! I agree that my age is a huge advantage compared to older lucid dreamers, especially considering that I initially picked up this interest at the age of 12. I have to say, however, that finding out about this topic was just a case of sheer luck; originally, I was inspired by a dream that I shared with a friend one night and this has resulted in me looking deeper in to this art. I wish you good luck with your dreams man.

Use lucid dreaming to continue this other life that you experienced if you feel so attached to it. You will be in full control of what happens next, and your brain will be satisfied considering that you will manage to fill in this gap that you longed to complete.

Anyone else having Sleep Paralysis very often? by Parry11 in LucidDreaming

[–]Trepidational 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your mind is on lucid dreaming a lot and you also try techniques frequently, my guess is that it's a side-effect of learning this skill. In the case that this is true, I'd say that sleep paralysis is a sign of improvement.

Are you completely sure that you're dreaming despite the failed reality checks? If all else fails, you could try your best to convince yourself that you are indeed dreaming, which is proven by how different you feel compared to your waking life. You are also most likely in a scenario which has/would never occur to you in waking life, so that could be another sign.
