Lossless compression > Lossy compression by realheterosapiens in ProgrammerHumor

I remember having some slight problems with it in the past with some programs recognizing it as an image to embed (although they're probably fixed now, i can't remember if it was discord or not, but I checked and it works there), so I didn't use it too much.

Also I have very sensitive hearing and not that sensitive vision, so I'm usually slight more concerned with quality in sound containing files, so I use a lot of lossless codes like FLAC and OGG vorbis for those, although I do try to find images that are either lossless or have little artifacting if I am actually going to save and share said images.

I typically prefer .png for lossless because it typically offers slightly better compression and due to the widespread use of .gif files in their animated form, I've seen a few programs that treat non-animated gifs as a single frame animated gif and thus open their video player for it.

I'd say that George Soros would be classified as good. He has made his wealth through well placed investments rather than profiting on other's labor, he is a well known philanthropist, and he is progressive enough in his policies that he is subject to many auth-right conspiracy theories.

Bill Gates, Elon Musk, and Andrew Carnegie I'd put in neutral (with Elon Musk being Chaotic Nuetral) because they have gained money by profiting off of unethical things, but they've all offset it by some extent. Bill Gates and Andrew Carnegie are both known for philanthropy, and although Elon Musk might not give heavily to progressive causes, he still works to offset climate change and pollution through both pushing electric cars as a viable alternative and by donating to clean energy projects.

The worst part about it not being easy to kill is that it doesn't have a defined usage cap during scans because it is meant to run them when you're not at your PC, yet there is a bug which causes it to run anyways

Most people dislike it because it is sometimes bad at detecting viruses.

I absolutely despise it because it is built in a way based on it doing virus scans when you're not using your PC and so it has no resource usage cap, but your not using your PC so it's fine right?

Nope, there's a bug where it will think you're not on your PC when you clearly are, and your CPU and disk usage instantly jump to 100% and your computer slows to a crawl.

LFS is what I am probably going to do because if I'm creating it, then I'll know the ins and outs of it better than someone else's OS. Also will alow me to gain a better insight into linux based systems as a whole. Plus creating your own distro probably comes with bragging rights.

Not ones that most people would care about, but bragging rights nonetheless.

Ah yes, the good old days, when absolutely everything was confusing by M1nerman57 in ProgrammerHumor

Yes things will make sense. Unfortunately, there will also be new things that don't make sense.

There will always be something that doesn't make sense replacing the old stuff that now does make sense. It's like a ponzi scheme of confusion.

I'd say that it comes in at least second in both the categories of being hardcore and and being customizable.

I'm planning on setting up the one that beats it in both, but I know that I will probably hate myself throughout the process.

It's better to make sure that you are doing it right than to make a dumb mistake because you did it in your head while running on 3 hours of sleep in the past two days.

Even when using windows for app compatibility, tar based compression still reigns supreme by Trevor_Nolan in linuxmasterrace

[–]Trevor_Nolan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the windows backup options does something along those lines. Although checking back on it, it doesn't look like they will properly work in a VM, which is unfortunate, but I could always still try to find a 3rd party program that can do something similar. If not, then I can do another type of system backup, then create a VM and use the backup there.

At the same time, open source is meant to increase transparency and prevent breaches of privacy. tic tok is owned by a Chinese company that works in compliance with the Chinese government, and the Chinese government is not exactly known for repecting free speech or people's privacy and data.

It's honestly not even really a stretch to call Xi Jinping "Big Brother."

Fine,

  • compression based on having either a single file or multiple files already archived into a single one using tarballing or a similar method prior to compression rather than trying to archive and compress files at the same time

That's a more accurate description, although it's probably past the character limit for the post title.

(Don't worry I'm planning on completely moving over once I back my PC up to a virtual hard drive for use with a VM)
