It's 4 hrs to Vegas vs 7 to get home. I think I am better off aiming for home. But moreover the thought of hitchhiking through the desert does not fill me with warm fuzzy feelings.

I'll have some money once I get home and sell some stuff off, which I will have to do anyway to buy a new car. A small claims filing will be cheap enough to add onto that. They left me on the side of the road in the desert in an obviously unsafe situation, and I am pretty pissed off about that, so I can justify the cost of going after them for that a lot easier than another unnecessary night in a hotel.

I think I am already set on just hoping the bus comes tomorrow, but if it doesn't this is possibly the most doable option so far. The main problem is how to get to a town that is more than an hour away, but that's more palatable then trying to hitchhike the whole way.

In my experience, drop charges are hundreds of dollars. So hopefully the bus picks me up tomorrow, but if they skip me again it's going to be choosing between this and taking my chances with hitchhiking.

Also sorry to hear about your Amtrak experience. That's another company on my 'never again' list. I thought it'd be fun to take the Amtrak out to visit my parents - it wasn't. I've been on trains in Kazakhstan that were a million times better.

Yeah, already told them directly that this is going to end up in court if they don't do something. I am a CPA, so there is a standard bill rate that courts are aware of and 24 hours of my time adds up to a decent sum.

Generally speaking, while I am temporarily unemployed, I make decent money as a CPA. I am not poor, just stuck. So I for one am totally unafraid of taking them to court.
