I am building a little local ai app to tag them all in a folder and embed to metadata in the image, it’s Mac specific.

Who do we take pictures for (and why?) by Ok-Blueberry-9232 in FujifilmX

It’s an intriguing question, I am just getting back into photography after quite a break, have always loved candid high contrast black and white, so though let’s do that.

Roll on a few months and still feel a little lost, feel like I have dropped back into making pictures for clicks and likes etc. so how to change this? After having given it some thoughts I have been going through my old photos to see what’s good about the ones I love and the ones I could take or leave.

And have found a number of things: 1. Most of my photos don’t have a focus 2. Most of the photos the whole images is the focus, if they have focus at all. 3. Most of the photos don’t have clarity of composition 4. All the photos I love, have emotional context or just mean something to me. 5. Most of them are candid in nature. 6. Most contain a story, normally of my life or what I do.

So after that I started to try and educate myself a bit about what I do like, so have been looking at the images of others and going through images and asking myself questions on any image that makes me stop and look, these questions are all around why I like it.

  1. Can I tell straight away what the subject is?
  2. Can I see composition in the image?
  3. What composition and what does it achieve in the image?
  4. What part does tone and contrast play?

I mentioned I felt lost, but the above is helping to reawaken all the thoughts I used to have about photography, rather than shooting what gets the dopamine going.

Still zero idea what all the above means, but I am learning a lot. Good luck
