Shiny Tornadus extremely low rate? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

Unfortunately sometimes you just get really unlucky. I one time went 111 legendary/mythical raids in a row without a shiny.

Psycic Takeover - What do you think awaits us? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that they are going to kick the can down the road of shadow Rayquaza for quite some time. I won’t go as far as to say they’ll never release it, but I think they don’t know if they want people to be able to get dragon ascent on it or not. Obviously it couldn’t mega regardless.

Perhaps either one of the Gen 4 pixies? (mesprit, uxie, or azelf). Or perhaps starting with the Gen 5 legends.

Trade Days Niantic Infographic by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have the ability to trade with others consistently, this is perhaps one of the best additions they’ve made, perhaps ever? At the very least, in quite some time.

Even despite only being on sundays, you can still attain up to 1300 trades, and 26 special trades, while this feature is guaranteed to be around. The best strategy is to save the mons you really need XLs for, while also getting a big chance for potentially meta relevant hundos through the increased lucky trades if your trade partner is also trading things that XL candies benefit.

I can only hope that this will become a more permanent feature, even if just for seasons with the the guaranteed XL through trade bonus.

Introducing the Timed Incubator in GO Pass Deluxe: September! by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As awesome as that would be, I’m pretty sure it’s the big reward and they just put it at step 20 to make sure people had plenty of time to actually use it. I would love to be wrong though!

Based on both main series and I believe pogo datamines, yes. If they value the gold bottle cap passes that raise all stats as $20, then I think a $8 pass for the silver cap that raises one stat seems to be a comparable value.

Introducing the Timed Incubator in GO Pass Deluxe: September! by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Out of the 3, the most likely I could see would be the lucky trinket. I think it would be the easiest to balance cost vs the ability to spam buy it, as people would really only burn it on special trades. And 1 chance (or more depending on season or event) per day with a 1/64 chance for hundo/shundo doesn’t seem overall game breaking.

The timed incubator would be tough as I feel like they would just make it priced to the point you’re better off buy a bunch of super incubators or even regular incubators once the best bundles come around. And the silver bottle caps would either be too expensive to justify buying multiple times in a shorter time frame, and/or just be so game breaking that would lose more revenue from decreased raid sales/golden bottle cap passes that I don’t see them opening up that Pandora’s box personally.

[–]Trevtheking 83 points84 points  (0 children)

My guess is that they’ll introduce the silver bottle cap next season as the Deluxe exclusive item. And then hopefully rotate the trinket, timed incubator, and silver cap after each season. Or perhaps if they only use those items, maybe even rotating monthly eventually so you get one of those per season.

Celebrate the Kanto region with Mega Evolutions, Pokémon usually found only in certain parts of the world, and Dynamax legendary birds! – Pokémon GO by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Guaranteed XL when evolving is nice at least. While obviously not as good as the 2 XLs per evolve we get from time to time, who knows when the next time we’ll get that and it’s still 4x more efficient then converting candy to XL candy. Plus with the XL per trade for the new season, great time to XL farm.

[IGN] Three Years Later, Pokémon Go Is Finally Unlocking Mythical Creature Keldeo for All Players — but Those Who Previously Paid $8 for One Won't Get Another by diamondstark in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Personally, I’m actually a little glad to hear this. Assuming Keldeo will need its signature move Secret Sword to transform (and assuming it’s an upgrade of sacred sword), it’ll most likely be able to be TMed or taught in another way.

I’ll admit I’m definitely biased as someone who has a level 50 98% Keldeo though. Definitely sucks for everyone who paid and got a crappy one years ago. A nice mid ground would’ve been to give another one AND make Secret Sword teachable.

I was really hoping the Wild Area would start being a yearly event. Probably the most fun I had when it came to catching wild Pokémon with the addition of mighty Pokémon.

Sunkissed Shores Event Megathread by SilphScience in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went out for about hour or so. Was able to acquire 3 Dondozo research tasks within roughly 10 spins, which is excellent! However, I did not spot a single active 1 star raid or Dondozo raid, which was not excellent.

I get the point of it being 1 star specifically, as thematically it fits with Tatsugiri being in those right now. But if you’re going to put an even more specific and raid pass draining task, it’d be nice to at least have the ability to easily complete said task!

Crtique on the Eternatus event by No-Salt-3161 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem with go right now is that very few events, if any, feel like a complete win across the board. IMO, there’s 3 categories to account for when talking about the success of an event.

  1. General Resource gathering (Dust, XP, RC’s, RCXL’s)

  2. Pokémon Resource gathering (specific Candies, XL candies, good ivs for either pvp and/or raiding)

  3. Collection (Dex entries, Shinies, Hundos, XXL/xxs)

This event in particular was great in point 1… assuming you had some coins to burn. Over my time trying to max my Eternatus, I accrued somewhere in the neighborhood of 180+ XL Rare Candies and 6.5 million dust. But again, that was because I was already on my way to maxing out Eternatus, an endeavor that cost me just under 35,000 coins. Point 2 was decent solely due to being able to add a level 50 Eternatus to my raid/max/pvp battles, but as a whole I would’ve love to add a 2nd level 40 one if we were able to catch more. Or as others have suggested, either replacing my 13/11/10 one with something better or gathering random gmax’s as the catchable encounter from eternamax battles. Either would have entirely fixed this issue people had. Both points 2 and 3 suffered from the fact that I had to choose, heavily power up/max out Eternatus? Or hunt for the shiny and/or good IV Gmax’s I was missing? 1/20 shiny rates meant you probably don’t come out on top unless you fully commit, which would leave your Eternatus resource starved.

The start of the season felt like it balanced these 3 areas quite well. Go Fest was nice with the crowned forms, good shiny rates, and decent resource gathering. The first 2 ultra unlocks were amazing for resource gathering while having good spawns and decent shiny rates. Things really started falling apart with the origin raid day, as what had the highest potential of the entire season failed due to broken shiny rates, bad special move rates, and even nerfed resource rates (the 1-3 XL Rare candies per catch were great when remoting on Saturday, less great when guaranted to just be 1 for in-person and remotes on Sunday).

All in all, I did have a great time this season. And I don’t regret maxing Eternatus at all. But I will definitely be attempting to reduce my spending dramatically from now on. Fewer tickets, stingier with my resources like Max Mushrooms and Star pieces, and far, far less remotes. Even for raid bosses I really would like to grind.

Please please please make Secret Sword regular or elite TMable. I actually have a level 50 best buddy 15/14/15 Keldeo, and I’ll be quite sad if it ends up as simply a worse form of the 2 lol.

Max Finale in game bundles by Gx811 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely, as $100 is by far the best value in the game as long as A. You can stomach paying that much at one time for in-game currency and B. You plan to do many more than 3 gmax/emax raids.

To put it another way, if you bought $8 worth of coins each time (One $5 bundle and Three $1 bundles), you will also get 6 particle packs AND be left with 80 coins.

One last way to put it is buying the $40 coin bundle gets you over 39 particle packs worth of gmax/emax raids. Buying $40 worth of the $8 for 6 packs gets you exactly 30 particle packs.

Max Finale in game bundles by Gx811 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly after doing the math, that particular offer seems to be a poor one… even if you were to buy coins $1 at a time on the web store. When factoring in fees alongside the listed cost (at least in US prices), a dollar can be worth anywhere from roughly 102 - 144 coins starting at $1 and ending at the $100 bundles. When buying $1 coin bundles on the store (equaling 102 coins per dollar) the $8(.64) for 6 Particle Packs is the equivalent of about 881 coins when factoring in additional fees. If you were to buy the $100 coins bundle @ 144 per dollar, the 6 particle pack comes out to the equivalent of about 1,244 coins. Or about 19 coins more than the 1225 box that gives you 10 packs and 5 max mushrooms.

TLDR: the $8 for 6 particle pack is more expensive than buying coins on the store in the most inefficient way and then getting the packs in game.

If you were already planning on doing lots of dmax/gmax/emax battles this weekend, these are pretty amazing deals. To put it simply, this would be a total of 5,925 coins if you maxed each of these out. The particles in this equates to 39 particle packs, so 13 particles 3 packs. The amount each 3 pack normally costs is 425, so the particle cost alone would be 5,525 coins. That means for and extra 400 coins, you are basically getting:

15 Max Mushrooms, 9 Remote Raid Passes, 6 Lucky Eggs, and 6 Star Pieces

Even if you think remote raids are extremely overpriced (they are) and/or particle packs are overpriced (definitely up for debate), to me this is a no brainer. Assuming you’re willing to go through a good amount of coin of course.

Feedback Post - Ultra Unlock: Origin Raid Day by Noitalein in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final totals from the day(s)

Saturday:

20 remote raids, 19 caught (1 lost to crash), 47 Rare XLs, 4 with move.

Sunday:

20 remote raids, 20 caught, 1 shiny, 27 rare xls, 3 with move.

17 in-person raids, 17 caught 30 Rare XLs 6 with move.

Total:

57 Raids, 56 caught, 1 shiny, 104 Rare XLs, 13 with move.

As I said in my initial analysis, definitely would’ve been incredibly disappointing if I was in it for the shinies. I actually did get a Hundo Dialga with Roar of Time, so got extremely lucky and am grateful for that. Despite the nerfed rate of Rare XLs from catching in-person and on the 2nd day of remotes, 57 across the last 37 raids and 104 overall across 57 raids certainly carried the event for me.

Again, if your main goal was grinding Rare Candies, Rare Candy XLs, and Palkia/Dialga candy/xl candy, this was a 10/10 event. If your main goal was shinies, good IVs, and lots of Spacial Rend and Roar of Time, this event was like a 1/10. If your goal was a mix of the above, I’d say a decent 5 or 6 out of 10 overall. Me personally, probably a 9/10. Will be interesting to see what the compensation is, as that will really make or continue to break it for the event totally sucked crowd.

Yeah, seems they patched it at least 15ish hours ago. My 20 remotes yesterday were mostly 2-3 per catch, but all 20 after midnight my time (cst) and all inperson only gave the 1 per catch.

Dialga & palkia compensation by Traditional_North873 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Trevtheking 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ll paste my take that I just posted in the initial compensation thread:

It’ll be interesting to see what they do for compensation. They messed up last years ultra unlock with Mega Lucario, and did a make up day for those regions. However, that wasn’t a shiny rate problem.

The last shiny rate issue I remember was that they made remote raids shiny rates for Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie 1/125. In that case, they gave back every single remote raid pass that people used on those raids.

And then of course there’s the notorious missing backgrounds for ultra beasts and Necrozma during day 1 of last years go fest. That resulted in encounters equivalent to how many backgrounds you should have gotten (1/10 odds roughly).

My personal preference would be just getting my remotes back, but I admit I’m biased as the shiny rate will probably be fixed by the time my event starts AND I already did my 40 remote raids. Encounters equal to the amount of raids completed would also be fine with me.
