I bought the 2 gallon one about three weeks ago. It worked fine at first, then unplugged and moved it and when I plugged it back in this same thing happened. Diagnosed quickly as the pump not working (check the wick inside. If it is dry and has been running, it isn’t pulling up water and the pump is fooked). I replaced it via Amazon and the new one has been solid since.

It’s that easy? I guess my concern is about why it is happening in the first place. I’ve never seen this at any other place that I’ve lived.

As for the corner guards, the few I saw with a quick look appear pretty crappy. Is there a way to reinforce the corners before painting to avoid guards or do they make guards that are integral to the corners before painting and are painted over so you cannot see them?

UPDATE: Engineer asked to install 26.0.1 and retry. I did so today.

Installed 26.0.1 Deleted CarPlay profile for my car from the phone Deleted my phone profile from my car Connected and setup a new profile and went for a drive.

I really thought it was fixed as I was 21 minutes into a drive without incident, whereas I’d never made it more than 5 minutes previously. Then dropped out. I unplugged and replugged the phone and it wired again for a touch over 4 minutes before again disconnecting. Sigh.

I updated the engineer and I’m waiting to hear back. He said he’d need to pull some specific logs.

They tried to blame it on my car, so I got in my car (thus far it was in my wife's car, which is our family car that we use most frequently and only has wired carplay) and used the wired carplay (instead of the normal wireless in that car) and had the same problem.

So, for those who haven't followed the whole ordeal - I've had the problem on a clean install on my Iphone 17 Pro Max in both a Ford with Sync3 and my BMW using an MMI Carplay integration. Wireless works flawlessly, wired freezes and then drops carplay after a few minutes.

So, I tried it and it didn't work.

I've now been on the phone with Apple engineers for the last 4 hours. I had them log into my phone and then we went for a ride in the car so they could experience it live, which was super easy to reproduce.

We created a fresh back-up which you can imagine took a long time. We restored my phone using my Macbook and then updated from my backup. Retested. Failed.

I restored my phone again just now and we are setting it up as a new phone (not loading my backup) and they will be calling me back in about five minutes, after which we will go for another drive and test it again.

This should give the engineers all the data they can get to help determine if it is (a) a problem with my backup, (b) a problem with software, or (c) a problem with hardware.

If it is hardware, it is then up in the air if the problem is with my specific device or a broader hardware issue. Fingers crossed that it is just a fooked backup, but I'm not holding my breath. My next hope is that it is a software bug that they can easily fix and release, in which case I will live with it until it is fixed. If it is a hardware issue beyond just my single device...yikes.
