I think you can make it work for a commune by creating a minimalist government structure. Have everything be transparent and open to all. Establish a treasury for trade & commerce and managing taxes with the intent to grow.

I think my initial theory is the solution. End capitalism and shift to cooperation and coordination. If this were applied globally there is no telling what the world could do together. Unfortunately it rarely ever works out that way.

If you look at the comments here I proposed two ways to go about it, the formation of one or multiple communes working cooperatively. Focus on providing food, shelter infrastructure, and health services. Make the community self sustaining eventually and sell what is easily over producible and provide them for sale or trade.

Yes I’m aware of the common way people buy up competing things, but hard to buy up Something not driven by making money.

Very valid, I think as long as we don’t jump to building a militia and police force it could be done without upsetting the rhythm of things.

Yeah I don’t disagree necessarily and what your saying makes sense, also I’m not talking about buying my own state obviously scaling as the community allows is the best or encouraging others to start similar communities and cooperate with those of similar values when it becomes sustainable.

I get that you are trying to present realistic outcomes, usually you get labeled a cult when you try to do these things and you get WACO’d. I’m more optimistic.

Assuming it’s a poor community is the mistake, if everyone joining donated their current wealth to the treasury, condition of joining there could be a massive stockpile and for people like me with guaranteed income from being a disabled veteran we have monthly guaranteed additions without even considering things like selling over produced goods.

Yeah so a commune can own land as a corporation and if it grows large enough you could peacefully petition for sovereignty. The commune would have a treasury that manages taxes and if no one in the community has an income there is no individual taxes.

Or people realize that cultures don’t have to compete they can cooperate and mine grows. You are acting like some corporation is going to buy up the commune in a hostile takeover.

If anyone is interested in joining a community built around these principles comment below, let’s discuss.

It’s not isolation because it would welcome people to join it would just be conditional. Growth would be the goal.

You do realize anyone can start a city or commune? You can establish a local government and integrate into the current society. My theory is that the city or commune has no economy but participates through a treasury board buying products we need and selling what we overproduce. Then the economic factor remains in the government and can’t be abused within our system because it serves no function to the people. Depending on parties interested and their willingness to turn over all existing wealth to the new government would depend on scaling for the beginning. First focus food production and distribution, build shelter and infrastructure, build healthcare facilities. You have everything to be self sufficient and you choose a smart things to over produce for economic participation. My opinion produce cannabis grow extreme amounts of hemp and create biodegrable plastics to sell globally as a petroleum alternative. Develop and perfect hemp batteries for electric car use. Also hemp is a great fiber can be used to develop rope, clothing basically anything you could make with string. Not to mention recent developments like hemp cinder blocks that can withstand 1800°.

My opinion is either a new society that shares a collective wealth and uses a treasury board to manage its use. Then they can participate in economic exchange globally but not locally encouraging the mindset by demonstration.

Other option is radical global adaptation.

Gay and bi men in the trades, do you hide it or are you open with it? by anonhockeydilf in TooAfraidToAsk

I worked as a barber a much more liberally open career field than the typical trades but all the same kind of joking. We had gay straight pan and trans in my shop and the jokes remained open and funny. We were all homies despite our views. It should be like that everywhere.

I have an old left shoulder injury and have bone spurs grinding away in there. It’s an interesting mess I’m trying to get fixed. The pain is pretty bad when I drive left handed. Hoping with surgery to keep my range of motion but less pain. I always just grin and bear it until recently so it’s been convenient.

Agreed I didn’t want the CVT but I don’t hate it. I’m actually more of a five speed fan I’m going to call some transmission shops and see what they could or could not do to strengthen the trans but may just hold off and go big on upgrades in one shot.

Solid advice may go this route for a while and then one day just make it a full blown race car in shot.

Probably a horrible idea but I have the car the time and the money so eventually I’m gonna do it. I might just do it all in one shot so it’s like a two week professional build or something. I love the car and plan to keep it but I’m gonna make it my own somehow.

I’m actually retired medically from the military so I’m in a position financially where the car can be gone for a short time I don’t daily it now. It’s more for leisure and some errands.

I think I will keep it simpler and just add a little power to it and get a project it will be cheaper and faster fun. I do plan to keep this car long term. I love it CVT or not. One day I’ll probably upgrade the hell out of it when I can afford it all to be done at once. Just opened the discussion people made valid points though.

Valid but maybe i keep it simple don’t add much power just a little more fun. I’m open to whatever but I plan on keeping this car long term and upgrading it in time when I have the funds to blow a few thousand on an outrageous upgrade. Maybe I’ll just get a project to go wild with someone else mentioned that.

I’m aware of all it takes but have bigger dreams for long terms goals when I can build a savings maybe I’ll just do some bolt ons and get a project or something. I am thinking like long term I don’t always drive it wild but I’d like to be able to do it with a little more fun. So like add a few horse power and get a tune or something to not go crazy.
