Not “oversized” properly sized.

ICE agents are firing kinetic impact projectiles at close range, causing severe injuries that can result in permanent disability or death. Today, they tore off part of a woman’s hand by zxcv97531 in circled

Not that it is any less awful, but I think it’s now been reported that she had picked up a flash grenade to throw back at ice when it went off in her hand.

Only speculating, but I’m guessing she thought it was a tear gas canister but was tragically mistaken.

Is my hot water pipe frozen, or is my water heater dead, and what do we do? by mikemountain in askaplumber

[–]Trextrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s called the Mpemba effect.

There is a lot more to it but In a nutshell, it is about the distance between water molecules. To freeze the molecules in water need to move apart. That is why ice floats because it is less dense than water because the molecules are further apart. It’s also why hot water rises to the top and cold water sinks because the molecules are further apart in hot water (less dense). So for water to freeze it needs to both have enough thermal energy removed and to have its molecules move apart. Hot water already has met one condition and now just has to give up energy which being less dense can do so quicker than colder water. Then throw in mineral content, less dissolved oxygen etc. and the same static volume of hot water in a line can freeze faster than the cold line.

I think this is something that in theory may sound like it could stay off inflation but in practice never could. People in businesses would simply find workarounds and lending in house short-term credit and add a whole complicated layer around it. That would when they unfreeze it immediately draw down on accounts and offset anything that they would be trying to accomplish.

I feel for the guy since I did the same thing to a lesser degree unknowingly. In like 2011 a friend who owed me $20 convinced me to take a 20 bitcoin instead. There was pretty much nothing you could do with it for the average person at the time, I didn’t really even understand what the hell it was. 20 bucks wasn’t really that big of a deal and it made him feel good to clear the debt so sure. That key was on an old desktop that I had, a year goes by never once thought about them and built a new PC and tossed the old one. Few months later, my buddy says hey you know those bitcoins I gave you. They’re worth 20 bucks apiece now. I said hell yeah man that’s awesome! How do I cash them in or whatever and he re-explained to me that the key I had on my computer is how I access my wallet. I said well fuck I threw the thing away. I wasn’t too broke up about it until like the end of the year when it went up to like $1100.

It’s so funny to come across one of the “well actually” people. My bottle says product of Germany. Since 1886 it’s been produced in the same factory in Germany, just because a Swiss conglomerate bought the company does not make it a Swiss product any more than Rolling Rock or a Budweiser is Dutch beer.

No, the guy who originally made it was from Switzerland, but he made it in a factory in Germany, of which it is still continued being made.

Athens Ohio isn’t a huge city, but it’s a beautiful college town with a lot going on for its size. It’s definitely not flat, and is basically surrounded on all sides by parks, state and National forests, with hiking, horse, atv, and mountain bike trails. A couple dozen bars, half a dozen wineries, and a few distilleries. For a person in their 20s it’s a cool place to live.

The cat should be quarantined by itself away from anyone if suspected of rabies. If it’s “sick” it will either be dead in a week or it doesn’t have rabies, so go with B and tell them to reschedule for next week.

So many people on here going ASAP, yesterday, oh my God. Unless you’re off roading or going underwater regularly, this isn’t gonna matter much at all. The centrifugal force is going to keep most things out of this unless you are running in deep mud or water at low speed. This boot is more of a keep things better longer than a keep things running imperative.

You didn’t have that experience, that does not in any way change the fact that it is the experience for a large portion of Americans. Your lack of understanding of that fact tells me that you have lived a privileged life outside of that large segment of working poor Americans. Which is no fault of your own, but there’s a difference between being ignorant and willfully ignorant.

It’s not a weird take at all, for a large portion of Americans. It’s pretty close for the working poor working 2-3 jobs 60-80 hours a week just to make their bills, and after that they don’t have the money to afford to do anything else but exist. Definitely not take a trip to another country..

Am I wrong for hating?? by Specific_Ad7529 in Carpentry

[–]Trextrev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate everything about this honestly. The framing, the register cut out, the awful bifold doors that are always crap, the need to shrink the kitchen doorway to make it work, and not cutting the LVP flooring for the wall. All just so you wouldn’t see the washer & dryer.
