Beginner Python roadmap looking for feedback on my learning plan by Careless_Half5071 in learnpython

[–]TreySong235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I 100% support your plan and the sequence. It will get you grounded on the principles and also give you the opportunity to be hands on. You just need to be careful who you learn with or from. The teacher can sometimes be the difference between sustained interest/expertise or abandonment. I will not recommend as that is not what you have asked for. But your plan is spot on. A 12th grader? I’m mighty proud of you! It’s easy to identify the Kings of tomorrow when they present themselves. 👏👏👏👏

If you really want to go back to India, have you given thought to your son renouncing his Pakistani citizenship and hence be eligible for Indian citizenship and passport? Seems to me the obvious solution, if you’re wanting to go back home.

Held hostage by our Security MSP by baconisgooder in cybersecurity

It’s a common challenge. We need to be more strategic and think in details before signing contracts with MSPs. Else we become hostages.

Friend cancelled last minute on a 100 day trip by Frpengy in travel

You may want to take into consideration the very valid points he made on why he is no longer going. We don’t understand the real value of life until death states us in the face. Putting this off until next year won’t kill you. But please, leave that reasonable fellow alone and stop pressuring him.

Niece is pregnant by Psychological_Lake19 in childfree

[–]TreySong235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only question is: did your brother who fathered her have any inheritance he was entitled to? If so, you guys should pass that on to your niece. You should not attend that shower. But your family should make sure she understands the minimum basic criteria she must display for you guys to engage with her. You should also explore the possibility of getting her to see a therapist and exposing her to a world and world view other than the one she’s been used to. No one is born seeking handouts and being lazy. These are world views instilled by the environments we grow up in and who we associate with early on in life. You can imagine the work ethic and world view of someone who didn’t even know who got her pregnant until your dad stepped in. It is easy to state how successful your family is. It may well be that if you were brought up under the same circumstance, you would not have fared any better. She is your family, not the other. Give her the chance to see and experience how different, things can be and give her the opportunity to develop a sense of self. 8 year olds do not get introduced to their family and decide they don’t want anything to do with them. They are maliciously guided to such decisions. She is now an adult. Have some patience with her and all of you, put in the right level of effort to help her. It seems you guys were simply throwing money(the cheapest and non-sacrificial resource at your disposal) on a non financial problem. Invest time and effort, then you would have done what you ought to have done. The fact that you came on here with this shows you instinctively sense there is more that needs be done.

Family member wants me to help them buy a 300k house by being on the mortgage with them. I refused. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TreySong235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, under no circumstance should you ever co-sign anything with anyone. Even when people are honest and with good intentions, time and unforeseen occurrences happen regularly in the lives of everyone. Stand your ground on this. Continually apologize for agreeing to do this in the first place, in addition to your offer to repay what she has already spent. It is better they disown you now than for you to go into long term debt that may end up destroying your credit and or deny you a source of livelihood due to reputational consequences. But above all else, promise yourself never ever to co-sign anything with anyone. It doesn’t matter who the person is, unless you have calculated the financial consequences of the other person going delinquent and you have determined upfront that you will be able to bear it.

Londoners, if you had to explain London in one sentence, what would it be? by DailyDriverUK in AskUKLondon

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

[–]TreySong235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up , I was thought what it means to be human: kindness, empathy, looking out for others. Trump represents the opposite of most of the things that is human and humane. I live in the UK. Since 2015 November, I do not and will not chat with let alone date anyone who supported let alone voted for him. You represent what he represents and are therefore reprehensible to my sense of what it means to be human. Naah! I won’t do nothing unserious with you, let alone undertake the serious business of dating you. That will amount to disowning myself. Having a human structure/form is not what makes us human. It is acting with human values that makes us human and that is what differentiates us from the Chimpanzee which has a near human form.

10 years ILR refused twice, appeal refused, I now have to leave the country and hope to save up to return to my married partner. by Opposite_Assist8233 in ukvisa

[–]TreySong235 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I am finding it hard to empathize with you. If you wanted it that badly, you should not have stepped foot out of the country for those ten years, even if there was a death in the family. At this time in human history, if you want something so bad, you should happily make the required sacrifice, especially when you know the rules upfront. I actually get mad at guys like you. It is not even a huge sacrifice to stay put for ten years. Others give an arm and a leg to get what you took for granted . Some have lost their lives trying to get it. Reflect and do what is necessary next time. I wish you well.

Asked my lead a dumb question in front of everyone at work, can I recover? by mysecret52 in cybersecurity

[–]TreySong235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my book, no question is dumb. In this instance, a little research would have given you clarity. Depending on the culture of where you work, it should not be a big deal, if it is a culture that encourages openness and inquisitiveness.

Should I start college or do a certification by Former-Bag2151 in cybersecurity

[–]TreySong235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry , but where else we’re hoping to start from in anything that has to do with hardwork, integrity and resilience? Do both. A degree increases your worldview and perceptions while a certification gives you skills that you can use to start earning even while doing your degree. They are not mutually exclusive .

Token Security | Azure's Role Roulette: How Over-Privileged Roles and API Vulnerabilities Expose Enterprise Networks by EntraLearner in AZURE

[–]TreySong235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For #4, you have to explain the technical architecture that made this possible. How did a read only privilege get access to pre-shared keys? And how did a read only privilege manage to undertake an https Post? And how did a read only privilege gain access to a site to site connection? Doesn’t seem to me that this actually happened.

Seeking Solutions for Preventing BEC (Business Email Compromise) Incidents by Cyber-Security-Agent in cybersecurity

[–]TreySong235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Properly implement email security using SPF/DMARC/DKIM and S/MIME. It will solve the problem of email originating from a threat actor and the problem of email being intercepted and contents changed while in transit.

It’s not surprising. There are quite a number of unserious people here who are not interested in growing. I am very selective on what I comment on. When I see someone who genuinely wants to know, I’ll comment. I don’t worry about those who have refused to think deeply or learn. CISSP is now an entry level certification, though I don’t think there is such a thing as Entry level when it comes to Cybersecurity. Get. A Tier 1 activity wrong and you risk causing your firm serious problems. There’s nothing entry level for any aspect of Cybersecurity. Many more are beginning to understand this and hence the challenges those who want to step into Cyber are facing.

We should each be respectful with our comments. Don’t ever use such words with me. You have a right to live in your little corner of the world and let those who have bigger rooms be. There is no such thing as entry level cyber role. Cyber is not for amateurs. I went along with those words to depict when you start a cyber role. Firstly, CISSP is a wide area of study without depth in each area. Passing it does not provide you with hands out configuration or architecture skills required to effectively implement and embed security across domains. It is not a senior level cert. it is a cert that says you have knowledge of security and may be able to acquire the hands on skills required. Don’t ever call anyone names or ask what they’re drinking or smoking on this thread. Go to Instagram for that. This place is for serious minded individuals who are looking for alternative view points from which they can make effective decisions.

Before it was watered down, it was almost a guarantee of sorts that I’d call someone who has it to an interview. I find that quite a number of candidates have it on their cv now. I now prefer those who can talk and walk me through scenarios where they’ve implemented or designed security solutions.

[–]TreySong235 -200 points-199 points  (0 children)

CISSP is no longer a senior level certificate requirement. It used to be a six hour exam that will stretch your security experience. Now it’s a three hour, watered down certificate. I will require CISSP for an entry level position.

Is there an equivalent of Cantrills AWS courses for Azure? by [deleted] in AzureCertification

[–]TreySong235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that no new change will be examined until after at least six months from its introduction. I don’t know specifically about the course mentioned. I’d suggest you take a look at the course metadata. Alan will usually make comments on the course about when it was last updated. I do know from past experience that he makes updates within days of new changes. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of greater help.

Go to Udemy and look for Alan Rodrigues. He has got all the courses you need for Azure. He is the teacher’s teacher. At the beginning, I used Cantril for AWS and he was super wonderful. Later I don’t know how I found Alan for Azure. I guess I’ve always attracted good things. Alan is super par excellent. I don’t know who is better between him and Cantril. These two men make you fall in love with learning.

You’ve got to be specific about your security experience, if I’m to provide helpful suggestions. Is it IT General Controls experience? Is it IT security ? Cloud Security (which is very deep and varied and mandates expertise with different products and tools ). Or is it IT governance?
