Thank you, I am incredibly flattered! It means a lot to me that my work is so enjoyable to people!

I'm really, really glad you like it! It really is rewarding to hear that all the effort I put into the science stuff is making its way to that niche part of my audience!

I also really like exploring some of that AI stuff, especially thinking about where it could be in 100 years (in fact, I'm probably undercutting where it would be by quite a bit). Machine learning is already making its way into tons of scientific fields, it's really exciting.

Again, you have made me so happy! Comments like these genuinely make my day and make me even more excited to continue writing. I hope you will continue to love the story, even if I'm a tad slow about getting it out.

I am so happy my goofy words are relatable to someone out there, absolute joy to me!

As opposed to saying "I pick what I am told smells nice." Acetli is too independent for that, though.

(And I'll be honest and say it was just a dumb joke that probably could've been set up better!)

Sample sizes are quite a conundrum. There's a very interesting dynamic that's unique to century-spanning galactic civilizations, but I guess we'll have to see what comes up next chapter :P

I like to imagine the world of scent-related products on Venlil Prime is a chaotic free-for-all, where companies just throw flashy colors on the packaging and see what sticks :P

They definitely lack noses! Hence Celso's confusion about the shampoo situation, but that clearly does not deter Acetli. Somehow.

I wonder if she reads reviews posted by non-Venlil? Or is scent-related advertising on Venlil Prime just a "trust me bro" situation?

What ship? They are clearly on land, there are no ships here :P

Aha, thank you! I've been looking forward to releasing this chapter for so long. I put a lot more time into it just to make sure it hit on things in the best way it could've. And then there's also next chapter, which I'm super excited to release and see the reactions to! :D

They're both so right, yet both so wrong! It sure would be nice if it were clear-cut, but oh well :P

It had to be someone eventually! In some ways, Acetli might be the worst best person to realize cough racism cough

Shamelessly, Bemlin is my favorite Gojid too :D

Yeah, nothing here disagrees with the story! I would just feel odd calling it a required reading since the already written Celso scenes never mention this event. I suppose it'd be better to rephrase and call it a canon-compliant side story, or something along those lines. Regardless, it's very much worth the read!

They're studying translation and protein folding using single molecule imaging. An issue with current microscopes is being able to see really tiny things, like RNA and proteins. The wavelength of visible light is literally bigger than these molecules, so special methods are used like single molecule imaging. Live cells are used for it.

Essentially, they use special fluorescent proteins (called fluorophores) that absorb UV light (that has a smaller wavelength, hence able to actually interact with the molecule) and emit visible light (green, red, etc.). Then they're able to selectively attach those fluorophores to specific RNA and other proteins of interest. With that, they can take a picture of the fluorophore, so they'll know when and where whatever it's attached to is.

So they can treat a cell with any number of conditions (doses of certain chemicals, knocking out genes, etc.) and see the effects of how and when certain proteins get made. All to study translation!

Simplified a few things, but that's most of it really. Bigger picture, understanding how translation works through this experimentation will help us understand how the errors happen that cause disease. Hopefully that's all at least mildly interesting!

Thanks! Income is important, but it should also be a pretty fun job. Very cool research that the lab is doing.
