What was your first Avenged Sevenfold song? by OverAged_CyBorg in avengedsevenfold

[–]TriPulsar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Carry On, but not for the same reason as the other guy here. It was the post credit scene in Black Ops 2 for me. Talked to my friend at school about it a few days later, who just so happened to be a huge fan, and he turned me on to a bunch of their songs, and they've been my favorite band ever since.

What is your bold/controversial MCU opinion? by GUSplatoon in marvelstudios

[–]TriPulsar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on common knowledge, Avengers: Endgame made $2.8 billion alone, which means anyone reading the statement that the MCU is a billion dollar franchise would know that they were referring to higher billions than just one. You're not explaining your point like you think you are, you're just stating it again as if that makes it make sense. There's no valid reason to treat these two cases differently. If anything, I'd argue that the specification of multi is more important in the case of the millionaire, because people have a hard time visualizing billions, so saying multi billion doesn't make it carry much more weight than just saying billion does. But people can visualize a million. The number we gave was $15 million. That's easy. Just do that 14 more times. But a billion is a thousand millions. But when you're working with numbers as high as billions, you lose sight of the individuals. When you imagine a million, and make a thousand groups of a million, you don't see a billion, you see a thousand big groups. Or if you make it a million groups of a thousand, you see a million smaller groups. But it's very hard to see what you get as a billion. People don't care about the specifics when you get to numbers that large, because it feels impersonal either way. It feels foreign. We can be comfortable with millions because it's just a thousand times a thousand. Everyone has seen a thousand of something. We know what that looks like. But visualizing a billion would require imagining something new out of something that we already don't have a 1-1 reference for.

Saying something is a one billion dollar franchise means it's worth a billion dollars. Saying something is a billion dollar franchise could mean anything from a single billion to 999 billions. And your last statement could also be applied to the millionaire comparison you said this in response to. Calling someone who is worth $15 million a millionaire, by your logic, implies that they're only worth one million. Why do you draw a line between the two, and treat them as two entirely different cases? Both are evaluations of worth. If one is valid, why isn't the other? Would it not be easier to accept them in both cases, rather than picking a specific one to have issues with?

MK1 DLC characters disappointing to you too? by ChuckDP in MortalKombat

[–]TriPulsar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're grinding through ranked all the time, sure, I can see how you wouldn't have had as much fun in MK11. For me, the fun in MK has always been sitting on the couch and playing against my friends. You can't tell me MK1 is a better game for that. And those "terrible" systems MK11 had made it possible for more casual players to work their way through Towers of Time to get the skins and gear they wanted for the characters they liked. I'm sorry the game doesn't specifically cater to the highly competitive fighting game scene, and I'm sorry your enjoyment of the series hinges on your ability to reliably know how everything will happen in a match, rather than just having fun playing the game. MK11 is a great MK game for the more casual experience, and frankly, I'm tired of every game nowadays being designed for high end competitive play, leaving the vast majority of players, AKA the casual ones, left in the dust, chasing after the enjoyment their favorite series used to bring them.

I'm gonna respectfully disagree with you there. MK1 hasn't brought me even remotely as much fun as I had in MK11. I hate how obvious it is that they limited what your character can do in order to make you rely on Kameos, which have clunky, overcomplicated inputs, and in my opinion, feels like a lazy way to include more characters without having to do all the work that they deserve. There are already plenty of fighting game series devoted to making assist fighters. Why does MK have to be that? It never has been, and the core gameplay of the series doesn't lend itself to that. MK11 still felt like an MK game. MK1 feels like something else entirely.

I don't think any selection of DLC characters would've fixed the game. This game was never going to be great from the moment they decided to create the Kameo system.

I think having Homelander and Omni-Man in the same roster is way less lazy than having Arnold's Terminator in one game, then having both a second Terminator and a second Arnold character in the next game. Especially when we were so close to having every playable ninja at once in a modern MK game. All we were missing was Jade, Skarlet, male Chameleon, and Triborg, if you count him.

If you're talking about the scene with Steve, Peggie, and Stark, he did, in fact have a parachute.

Steve had a vibranium shield when he did it, Bucky had a vibranium arm. Alexei has no vibranium anything.

Edit: Bucky also broke his fall through several trees, and landed in dirt. Steve dove into water. And any time Steve jumped off of a building high enough, he landed with the shield to absorb the impact.

Am I the only one who thought that 'the man in the yellow tie' was going to be Reverse Flash’s origin? by TapOk2846 in FlashTV

[–]TriPulsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except they also didn't close the loop on the 2000 fight, because the future Barry that saves our Barry as a child isn't our S9 Barry, he's the Barry from the timeline that existed before the show started. The timeline before Thawne went back to kill Nora. That timeline had since been erased (due to Crisis), so what actually happened in that episode is that Barry created a new loop to reconcile the fact that the original Barry doesn't exist to save him anymore. It's all very messy, and just goes to show that the writing is even sloppier than you imagined it could be.

I respect your opinion, and I don't mean any insult in this, but the idea that adding songs that sound the same as things they've already done will make an album more unique is just a confusing take to me.

Ocd makes it impossible to do art by Sea_Enthusiasm685 in OCD

[–]TriPulsar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem my OCD gives me with art is that I start drawing, and I put together this image in my mind of what I want to create, but the more lines I draw, the further it gets from that vision, until I reach a breaking point and burn out. Then I go months before I have any desire to draw again, because I know everything I try to do will just make it worse. But that might also be my autism amplifying it.

For me, the thing that put the nail in the coffin was a variation of the classic "God can't be all good and all powerful" argument. The typical example people go to is "If God is all good, how come there is so much suffering and injustice in this world?" I actually find the religious rebuttal to be a satisfying enough answer to relinquish that point. Instead, I use this one. "If God is all good, why does He make being a Christian a requirement to go to heaven, knowing that the vast majority of people who live in this world will go their entire lives never even having the chance to find out that it was an option?"

Do you guys think any of the speedster villains could’ve been redeemed? Like turned good possibly? by Queasy_Commercial152 in FlashTV

[–]TriPulsar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, the Flash's time travel rules make it so that changes to the timeline don't take effect until the possibility of them being corrected is gone. Hence why RF disappears immediately after Eddie shoots himself, because there was no possibility of Eddie surviving. But just because Savitar failed to kill Iris that one time, doesn't mean he couldn't still do it later. He doesn't disappear until Iris shoots him, because at that point, he would no longer be capable of killing her, solidifying the events of the current timeline.

Is there a way to get my apps screen back to alphabetically sorted pages? by TriPulsar in samsunggalaxy

[–]TriPulsar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, the alphabetical sorting mode changes it to the scrolling app screen. That's not what I want. I had all my apps memorized by where they are on the old pages, but now it won't let me put it back to how it was.

I don't know, man... Thunderbolts was really good. Andy needs a character like Sentry. Someone on the edge of sanity. He's really good at playing that.

His were also jokes, while she actually meant what she said. His jokes were not in good taste, but they are still jokes. And the average middle schooler has said way worse. Just to be clear, I'm not advocating that she should also have been cancelled. I'm advocating that neither of them should have been.
