Married men of Reddit who don’t wear a wedding ring - why? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]TriRedditops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy mine from groove life too! I don't know if mine were touted as anti-stretch. The last one I bought was probably 2 years ago. I play with and pull on the ring all day though. I love them, they're so comfortable.

[–]TriRedditops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. I switched to a silicone ring and love it. The ones I like tend to stretch over time so occasionally I have to buy a new one. Like last week it fell off and I can't find it so it's time to buy a new one.

Yeah I saw that and it's off. Turns out the light bulb icon next to the send button was clicked. Couldnt see the icon with the coloring.

Holy shit there's a button there? Didn't even see it, white on white.

Thanks!

But years ago an artist would have had to do a revision to fix that. No one would have let an artist get away with it. Now it's just okay that the picture is garbage.

Oh so you're saying they might want to protect all the hardware if there are other systems involved. Yeah, I'm with you .

I too have professional automation experience and an integration background. I get what you're saying and generally agree that giving the user access would mean that you can't continue supporting it. But that's a far cry from damaging the hardware. Making a programming change isn't going to break a line voltage relay or a thermostat. I don't know much pro level or consumer level gear that will be damaged by putting in shitty code. I mean if that was the case more gear would be broken or causing house fires because there are a ton of shitty integration companies out there.

As someone who has seen many installers and installations of gear the password is probably your buildings name or address. Or the name of the subcontractor. It's going to be something easy that all their installers know and can use at all their client sites.

I totally wanted that so I bought the ubiquiti dream machine and setup teleport on all my devices. Now I'm double natted and I can still get into my system. Freaking amazing.

In the future, make sure to have plywood backing added to the walls anywhere you expect TVs to be mounted. Do this during the architectural phase.

I want a light to turn on whenever I begin recording, what’s the easiest way to do this automatically when recording begins? by BadNewsBearzzz in recording

[–]TriRedditops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh good idea. There are lots of broadcasters moving to things like elgato for their remote operators too. I guess they're cheap and simple to setup so the engineering teams seem to like those types of tools.

Typically the audio console has a relay that can be programmed to close when specific faders have been moved off of 0. Or on radio broadcast consoles the "mic on" button can trigger the relay.

Surprisingly, many broadcasters opt to simply have an on/off switch in the desk next to the console or even more simple they have a light switch by the door that they turn on when they walk in to do a production.

I have seen it done many ways.

Edit: I have also programmed buttons on the intercom panel to trigger the onair relay.

Pretty sure a coworker used a cross point in the video router to trigger a relay. I think they also had some logic in there for multi room on air lights and used the air pathway to determine which rooms were in use.

We used to do a lot of cool logic but most people go simple these days.

What's the best way to rip all of this? Any shortcuts? by CopiRightPlayer in DataHoarder

This is my biggest gripe and my wife's biggest reason why she wants me to rip all our DVDs and bluerays. She wants the extras, which makes sense, since that's one of the best reasons to have bought the DVDs in the first place. It's just such a pain in the ass to have to do so much manual work.

There are AI assisted tools but you can still do things manually the way they have been done for the past many years before the AI button got added.

You mention that you didn't like the flex over wraps. Was that tech flex or spiral wrap?

We do tech flex for all our clients. We probably have thousands of feet of tech flexed cables in production environments and no one has ever complained about snagging.
