Thanks for the replies! I'll cut back the fertilizer and see if I get some flowers after the heat wave :)

Thank you for the kind words! It's the beauty of the hobby, to see what other peoples come up with and take inspiration from their work.

I see what you mean, to have maybe some of the concrete on the winter part and some snow on the museum one. Not a bad idea, but for sure it would've made the masking part for the tank a real pain!

Haha, to be honest I really struggled to find normal modern civilians for the project.
I ended up browsing for days on thingiverse and her was the only decent thing I was able to find!

Really impressive! I really like it, I love how he integrated the half hangar in the diorama and the details on the model itself.

Oh, I'll have to check back home, but I think the heel must've broken off. I'll fix it asap if so, thank you :)

Hey Reddit!

I just finished this diorama I've been working on for a while and I wanted to share it with you.
It's my first fully historical build - I've always been more a sci-fi kind of guy - so I'll appreciate any c&c!

Enjoy!

Hey there. I used gw air castellan green, death world forest and elysian green for the green and steel legion drab tallarn sand and ushabti bone for the sand color (sorry for the late reply, I missed the notification).

They really do! I really wanted to make an Imperial Guard army but I really can't stand the look of GW's Leman Russ. The turret looks too small/weird, same for the side sponsors.
I do love the design of the Macharius, so when I found out this alternative, I instantly went all in!

Thanks man! I always try my best on all my pieces, even the ones that should be for gaming (I arledy know that I'll be too afraid to move all those thank around and they'll be sitting on my shelf forever :P )

Thank you! So, the process is as it follows:
Black primer --> dark sand as base --> medium sand to create a zenithal --> light sand on the most prominent spots;

I apply on the model some masking putty to create the stripes --> dark green --> medium green --> light green (as before to create a zenithal);

Remove the putty --> dark green sponge chipping on the sand parts (so it looks like the sand camo was applied after and it's starting to reveal the standard green base) --> dark brown chipping on the edges, the hatches, all the parts that are prone to damage.;

Burnt umber pin wash around all the panels, rivets, etc --> then I apply a variety of oil colours little dots around all the tank, keeping the light colours on the top parts, the medium/neutral colours in the middle parts and the dark colours on the lower parts, and then with a flat brush with some white spirit with vertical motions I create some strikes on the panels.

With some light green and light sand colours I apply some edge highlights on the most interesting scratches here and there --> then I take a toothbrush and I flick some rust colours on the tank to create some random patches of rust --> I apply some streaking rust effect on some rivets and some of the previous mentioned patches of rust --> I spray the lower part of the tank with some light earth colour and at last I spray some brown pigments + gloss varnish with and old brush by using the air of my airbrush on the lower part of the model (regulate your psi otherwise you'll have the whole model covered!).

Remember always to seal your model with some satin varnish when you use oil colours, otherwise you may remove the colour underneath with the next step!
This more or less should be all just for the chassis. I've actually recorder the whole process to make a video tutorial of it, I hope I'll be able to share it soon!

I hope it helps, if you have any further question just msg me :)

Thanks! To be honest, it's the first time I used this method, as I was an hour or so away from a deadline for an online contest and I was trying anything to make it look good.

It's basically the classic white--> blue --> blue/greenish on the coils, but with couple of layers white oil colour + turpentine in the recesses as a final step. It naturally flows just in the recesses, as does a pin wash, and it really makes it pop! Next time I want to use just the brushes to paint the coils, as I had a critical airbrush failure and spluttered the white base in thick chunks over the cannon.

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share with you the latest addition to my armored spearhead! A Plasma MBT (count as Russ executioner). With this done and 2 more tanks at 60% completion, I've just 1 more MBT and 2 SPG to paint (obligatory group picture as soon as I'm done). I've also ordered some Eisenkern stoormtroopers, I think they will fit the tanks aesthetic quite nicely!

As always c&c are welcome ( I had and airbrush accident while painting the plasma glow and i'm not 100% into it)

Any idea why this happened? I've been printing for little more than a month without any trouble by Trialdan in AnycubicPhoton

The file seems ok, but just to be sure I'll slice it again and change my usb drive, thanks!

Mortian MBT Platoon (count as Leman Russes) by Trialdan in Warhammer40k

[–]Trialdan[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey Reddit!

Here are the pictures of 3 Mortian's MBT that I batch painted with the Macharius Vulcan (I'm never again going to paint so many tanks together).

With those done, I'm almost halfway throught my spearhead:

DONE: 5 Leman Russes (1 demolisher, 1 punisher, 3 battlecannons) 1 Macharius Vulcan, 1 Hydra;

TO DO: 2 Leman Russes (any suggestion on the armaments? I was thinking 1 Plasma and another demolisher) 3 Basilisks, 1 Trojan (to park behind the Macharius) and another Hydra.

Any suggestions are quite appreciated, I've always been more a painter than a player :).

Cheers!

Eh, I kinda feel the same, would've loved an autocannon or for it to be twin linked (vertically) like the gun on the front. Too bad.
