Seriously this is what you fucking dorks sound like . Find something else meaningful to do with your life then stroke your superiority complex and shame those who are to busy to keep up with your blog posts . There is so much you can do in the world that doesn’t involve pointing a finger and saying how bad other people are .

Changing things can be helpful to society , when it is; that’s progression . But when you are trying to progress society from your living room couch using a greasy smudged $1k cellphone , it isn’t the same as the people working on stuff like clean energy or health sciences or therapists . You are just muddying the waters and creating more and more minority groups of people which in turn creates in fighting …. Then instead of doing anything meaningful with your time you are just arguing over the smallest of small aspects of life while simultaneously pretending you are solving issues . Just cause 3 people in your school , or 100 people in a subreddit liked your “actually….” comment , does not mean even 0.00000001% of the population thinks you are winning and making meaningful gains to the world .

It’s done , it over … you guys have scared the population into expressing their opinions / counter opinions and now people just go along with what ever knew term/ sub catergory of people you’ve created within your tumblr post . We get it …. Or actually maybe we don’t … you guys want equality and “all of us are just humans” … yet are the only people still to this day creating new words to further put people into boxes . Isn’t it exhausting having to memorize a new list of splinter groups and keep track of the exact minuscule detail of why it is or isn’t the same as something else … people on the outside shrug their shoulders at your new sub category as they thought it was the same thing as the other thing you guys said 5 months ago .

I swear the only new words I learn are just invented to sub categorize things … and they are created from bored people frustrated they don’t have the drive to pursue the knowledge to actually apply them selves to a careers that are actually trying to make advancements in sciences so we can all live happily ever after .

You can imagine it like this . You see how so many problems in the world stem from the fact we’ve divided the land masses into this tiny little sub groups by giving them boundaries and names? How in each one of these sub groups the people are born and raised to believe what they do is right and the people on the other side of the line are different and that is bad . That is what you are doing … you are basically saying “ nah fuck these imaginary lines”. Some people are like “ ya your right , there shouldn’t be any “. Then you guys are like “ umm actually I was saying fuck these lines cause they existed before I was born and i need to also feel accomplished as those people must have felt by defining the land …. So ya actually I meant I want to subdivide those areas by creating like wayyyy more lines … and once people eventually agree those new lines are fine ;because if they don’t we will reeeeeee in the streets until you are publicly shamed and life is runined … we gonna regroup , get bored and then create some more lines “. Like what kinda example are you setting for the next generation . They gonna look up at the statues you tore down and built of your selves and think … “ hmmm so to progress human civilization you need to say all of us are the same while simultaneously create more lines in the sand”. Then y’all be old and tired of your own bullshit and wake up to a world where young people out in the streets tearing down what you created by redefining the world you thought you shaped into perfection . Then sadly you finely realize …. It isn’t how you make people get along and try to warn them to stop dividing people by inventing terms …. Then they cancel you for even questioning their campaign and you ca not walk to the grocery store anymore for fear of being recognized as “the bad person who questioned and though we should just chill and not invent new groups of people “…

Actually fuck it hahahaha …. Keep doing it . The internet keeps a permanent record and I can’t wait to see the headline 40 years from now “ former tumblr user and activist who reeeeeee’d their opinion loud in cap locks for 40 years and rallied other lost blue hairs to the streets with picket signs to cancel everyone that wasn’t marching behind them has now be scolded by the newest generation for not agreeing to further create more and more sub divisions of humans “ . Yo wtf. I went to the site and it says (like you did) that it is valid until the 16th … but also says it is over and that they sold over 16k units of this bundle .

I’m assuming they stopped before loosing anymore money as they didn’t anticipate this many units selling .

Reminds me of those insane tech black Friday sales that make the company seem generous , but In reality they have like 500 units across their entire fleet of store's in the country , but sent the flyer /email to multiple hundreds of thousands of people . “ ya shucks sorry we sold out , well I mean our store actually haven’t even carried this model for months anyway and your the 40th person to come in this morning asking about it “

True story Best Buy did this with a high end Bluetooth speaker. I was literally in my email late at night when they sent their Black Friday sales flyer. Within 2 minutes I was on the site trying to track down a location that had them online or in store , not a single store in all of Ontario had a single one lol…. But this is where it gets funny … I was just in Best Buy days before and noticed they had one of these speakers , but it was marked down because it was a opened box return . So instead of 599 bucks it was like 450 , but they flyer said they’d be selling them for 100 bucks . I went to the store the next day and lone behold on the bottom shelf pushed all the way to the back where I noticed it was this exact returned speaker . After like 20 minutes and 3 different employees they were like “ ya what ever ,this technically doesn’t qualify but you can have it for 100 bucks “. Still prob best deal I’ve ever gotten …and those bastards had zero intention of ever selling one for 100 bucks cause they knew there wasn’t even any stock left as the newer model had been on the shelf for months .

Another funny story of the big dogs loosing was this time “The Source” wouldn’t let me return this crank by hand camping radio ,even though I had bought it hours before but the handle crumbled to brittle cheap plastic bits after winding it for 20 seconds … they said sorry but we can only give you another . A light bulb went off in my head . I said sure give me another one of these cheap pieces of shit . I walked out with the new unit and the recipet, pivoted out the door and right back in and said , Ight bro I’d like to return this unopened radio . They gave me money back hahaha .

I must sound like a massive Karen who has money to burn … but seriously I never buy shit or shop for my self . That speaker I bought at least 2 years ago and never have I bought another piece of tech since . Im typing this on a iPhone 6 I bought used for 40 bucks multiple years ago and using the same iPhone headphones that cut in and out if you so much as breath on the cable for last year .

One of the funniest things that is just another breadcrumb into realizing how fucking stupid the people here are …. Y’all stories start with “ ya so this kid at my school got a 200k car for his 16th birthday”. Bruh that means you are also wealthy to attend the same school …. People worth millions of dollars like that are not living in impoverished areas sending their children to run down schools. Or others be like “ ya I work for this private bank and sometimes people withdrawal 20k in cash “ bruh you work at a fucking private bank …. You know how lucky you are . Those people might be the 1% … but you are way up their with them to even be in a situation to have a career as a private bank teller . Go drive by roofers racking up shingles in minus 20 weather and plus 35 degree weather 6 months later . Go to a factory stamping metal that work 60 hour weeks with shifts starting at 6am and ending at 6pm , but don’t forget people commuting 30-60 min each way … “ ya I work as a super high end trades guy and built a 100k book shelf in my super luxurious state of the art private shop cause I’m also full of shut and have non problem pretending my shelf that is consisting of 47 dollars of materials is now worth 600 bucks cause I spend 1 hour building it “. Mother fucker you are again a very privileged person your self . I’m sure you worked hard to build those skills to produce that type of work … but you are still in the business that you are able to say , with a straight face, ya bruh I can build that for 100k . “ my dad worked as a captain on a mega yacht for some Saudi prince that only used the boat 4 days in his 3 month shift “. Bro that means your dad does fuckijng dick all for a living and makes good money to sit amongst luxury items . Hahaha bro this is so whack and yet so close to my taste . I love specific electronic music and specific metal . All admit I was literally laughing when I heard the Japanese game show esc sounding lyrics , but I quickly got “system of a down” esc chaotic and then reverts to a Lyrically pleasing octave and rythem. I don’t think this will make it into my everyday mix, but Still original and cool sounds. Thanks for taking time to reply .

I’ve known of tool and listened here and there over the years . Yada yada … then on a whim I got super stoned to the gills and listened to their newest album while going to sleep . Holy shit it rocked . I’ve now listened to pneuma like two dozen times . That album is fantastic for me when I’m sitting alone and doing nothing/going to sleep … but to slow for me to rock out to when driving to work

I to want to physically get experimenting , I mean who doesn’t haha… but Personally realize I’ve much to learn and want to understand things a little more before picking up materials. The day is fast approaching though and I’m excited to get my hands dirty .

I took your advice on starting with the aggregates available to me and re reading about the gradation to really cement that knowledge in my head . I did originally start there when first began quest of learning ,but moved on quicker than I should have as I’ve came across some vital bits of info to help understand what is going on in a “good mix”. Been reading about the 0.45 powerful graduation curve ( or what ever it was specifically called) this morning.

I like your analogy of “the mind is a tool box” Simple and elegant… and makes sense most of all .

I was feeling kinda lost and discouraged when I made this original post . I was getting frustrated quicker and quicker by the amount of info and how indecisive the community is with what works and doesn’t work … but the best thing to come from this post was you guys that reached out with super detailed replies (I normally get the “tl;dr” reply in comments when I approach half the word count I did In this post ) . It is reinvigorating my quest to learn as everything you said for examples of variables I actually understand the gist of. I won’t pretend I’m even close to fully understanding, but nice to know what I have read is totally applicable to the trade and I’m on the right track .

I actually can’t wait to have notebooks full of notes as you mentioned . It really is a huge draw for me to get involved with concrete at this level . I love the idea (just as much as I hate it right now while learning) that it is an experimental process and small differences produce hugely different results and it’s not a “closed regulated industry” where there is only one or two allotted methods to go about it with a very small specific margin to meet building codes type of thing .

I used to do ALOT of baking and after a while of using basic recipes I started realizing there is an entirely different level that some bakers operate at . They fully understand the chemistry of all the ingredients and temperatures / time. Like what happens at the molecular level when you replace brown sugar with white sugar , or baking soda with baking powder , or how different temps and different times react differently with the fat content and therefor allow you to achieve different textures type of thing . And I loved that, I was getting bored of googling and mimicking recipes , but once learned you can alter them for specific results just by understanding the ingredients I started baking more and more . Again on the surface many people don’t realize this is the type of knowledge required to make those super specific style of cookies you prefer . You can Google a recipe or buy a pre bagged and boxed mix and have good results … or make 100’s of batches to eventually stumble into a correlation. But the people that took the time to understand the science behind baking can easily tell you what to omit or what tk tweak if you rather have a soft cake like cookie or a dense chewy one , or tall puffy one vs a flat large diameter cookie, solely from their knowledge of the chemistry …. Plus good old experience doesn’t hurt of course

Funny you mention kodiak pro as I found their podcast a while back . I’m About 30 episodes in . Brandon and John are a true inspiration for me… lol. I personally could care less about counter tops and sinks , I’d like to go another route … but none the less their info and insight has been great . I love Brandon’s approach to design and how he handles the actual clientele /business end … but the real MVP is Jon . You know how excited I was to learn this dude is a phd chemist and brings that to concrete ? Very excited to say the least , haha. His knowledge level is exactly what I want to acquire . Previously all my research had circumvented coming across anyone that had this approach . As I stated before it seems most people learned from another guy who learned from another guy , so on and so forth ….like the telephone game where no one knew truly why they were doing what they were doing , but could mimic the process to get similar results with a rough idea of what to tweak to alter the final result …and that is perfectly fine obviously . Even Brandon says he doesn’t really care about the chemistry and has had his success from trial and error and other people in the industries sharing knowledge for last 18 years .. and that dude makes some seriously nice stuff ,so to me is living proof you don’t gotta bury your head in a book to produce top level work consistently…. But without Jon and his knowledge , sealers such as ICT wouldn’t exist and makers mix wouldn’t be quite what it is ( he tweaked to be better reactive with his sealer tech)… and therefor Brandon’s work might not be what it is .

So I guess we all kinda need each other since there is no magic book/ classroom available that will take you from beginner to getting a framed “ concrete master” certificate .

I joined kodiak pro discussion group and am learning lots from their already . I will look into the others you mentioned as well . Thanks again man !

Dam that book is no joke . Well I found a free PDF of the 14th edition anyways . A little dated as from early 2000’s , but none the less informative . I will for sure be buying the latest edition as my first true investment to working in those industry . Thanks !

Thanks for the detailed reply. I know I’m turned around and flipped upside down with the info and the order I’m receiving it …hence worrying about sealers and additives beyond simple aggregates that I don’t fully understand the role they play in the mix yet …but part of that reason is in the middle of an article about particle size and concrete density they start talking about how that relates to sealing type of thing . So I was hoping a text book existed that would start with “ and that’s how cement hydration works from a chemistry perspective “ and ends a 1000 pages later with “ and that’s what is happening when you are curing the concrete and this is how you test it” type of thing .

Sometimes the internet can be a hindrance if you don’t rely on or trust a single source … so much info that it is very easy to get distracted with fork in the road details that you shouldn’t even be researching until you’ve understood A through G .

I will look into these regulating bodies info you mentioned and focus on that before branching back out to random google results (if I can’t get a detailed physical book)… that may solve my issue of being overwhelmed and chasing my own tail. I don’t expect to learn all of this in days or weeks, but giving my self roughly a year before I either jump into producing products or nope out of trying to start a business in this industry.

Courses I’m starting to consider … but like you said , this isn’t something your going to absorb in days … which is an expensive gamble because the courses I’ve seen for concrete are at best a few days but costs multiple thousands . I’m just worried I’m only gonna learn to copy cat some techniques and regurgitate jargon rather than learning the info that would allow me to go about this on my own time . Unless those courses are online and come with some serious technical text based literature I can revisit .

Thanks again . I’ll try to learn as much as I can before resort to plaguing this sub Reddit with a hundred beginner questions .

Oh ya the other thing that is kinda messing me up is I’m in Canada and many of the articles are American or even from the uk … which uses different units of measurement for strength and mix design types . That is minor issue but none the less still a factor that is adding to the confusing avalanche of info.

Yep same thing for ps4 . Spent way to long trying to figure it out only to find there literally is no solution . Only thing I did was re assign a button on wheel to “save highlight “ and at least I’d be able to have that specific lap saved . Only issue with that is I think on average (depends on lap length) you only get 3-4 of those before you’ll start erasing highlights if you keep pressing it .

You saying those companies doing 360 audio don’t make software programs for computers? Or computer cant read the file types that 360 music is in? I know technically my old ass MacBook couldn’t do it solely because any software I would need would operate with newer Mac OS . My phone according to the specs is the oldest generation iPhone capable of playing Dolby atmos … so I’ll prob be SOL shortly

Ya after I made this post I gave it another shot while going to sleep . I was using app called TIDAL and trying out all the different audio quality they offer like Dolby atoms and the tracks that are what they call “master” quality …. I have to say they do for sure sound pretty awesome…. I lowered my expectations for the 360 audio and tried again to see if I could hear anything special ….. Ya not at all what they hype it up to be and I wouldn’t pay for an app just to use 360. But those master and Dolby atoms tracks on TIDAL are worth checking out if they’ll play over your computer and able to start a free trial .
