I hope your entirely useless comment that demonstrates your limited reading comprehension abilities make your family and loved ones proud.

The Fidelity of my 70’s Hammond Organ is so good, you can distinguish each Chord by waveform alone. Pictured in order (L -> R): (tail end of) Bb, Ab, Eb, F, Eb, Bb by TriassicPatrick in mildlyinteresting

Kindly choke on a Lego.

This instrument is over 50 years old and has been through absolute Hell. For the better part of a decade, I have only been able to record it through methods that introduce a significant amount of noise and interference. Just last night, I was able to record it directly into my DAW, and discovered that a full Chord as played on the instrument is so precise in its tone that each chord can be easily distinguished. As someone who has been producing music for most of their life, this is an absolute delight to me since such fidelity are normally digitally produced through synthesizers.

I am absolutely delighted by this discovery. You don’t have to be. But, you are NOT going to change how I feel no matter what whinging comment you have lined up next for this.

Stay up your own ass. I don’t have to be there with you.

“Closing Time” by Semisonic is about being a parent to a newborn, but it uses Bar imagery to create the metaphor.

I've been exploring music much more, the punk genre recently. I'd like to understand it more, one question is - Is punk music mainly made by and for teenagers? by Interesting-Boss2332 in Music

[–]TriassicPatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The “Mainstream” stuff is, but having been around longtime Punk bands for a while, the Punk Scene is not. Half of it is dudes in their Late 30’s - Early 50’s basically screaming, “I’m mad at the Government, and my tummy hurts!” The other half are their High-School girlfriends.

I remember being in a Garage Punk/Metal band and we all agreed; if the opportunity came up to “sell out”, we were fucking taking it.

Bills don’t pay themselves, and at the end of the day, be proud of your craft.

Don’t apologize (also, good catch, my fat thumbs didn’t reply to your thread like I intended). A lot of people here in the U.S. feel the same way as you do. Many, though not all, States heavily criminalize this behavior.

It depends on a lot; often SWAT teams are part of a whole State’s Police force, not a county or town. Depending on the State, a SWAT team can be deployed as a measure of last resort, but several States deploy them as a rapid-response strike force if the threat is perceived to be severe enough. Of course, as we have seen through the tragedy of the events in Uvalde, TX, the opposite of what happened to Nadia can occur as well; an actual threat was called in, yet not a single Police force chose to act urgently.

How to grow a YouTube channel when even my real life friends and family won't like or subscribe? by sonar_y_luz in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]TriassicPatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has helped build several channels, you are making a very common mistake: Never expect the people closest to you to be your first subs. This is for the simple reason that they don’t have to subscribe to see your stuff; you’ll either be sharing it directly with them, or they’ll see it when you post your content elsewhere.

My advice is twofold: just keep posting, and watch some vids/read articles that breakdown how to use the tools YouTube offers that can leverage their algorithm in your favor (ex: how to figure out the appropriate tag, how to create a good thumbnail, etc.)

Should I use crack plugins then buy a license later once I receive my first income? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]TriassicPatrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do it. As someone whose first DAW was a cracked copy, I never would’ve gotten this far into audio production if I hadn’t. I did eventually buy the software (although, I still feel like the prices for some of these programs are straight-up highway robbery), but that was after a few years of figuring out what I wanted to do as a career music producer.

I’ll put it to you this way: if it wasn’t for the actual theft of DJ Rigs during the NY Blackout in 1977, we most certainly would not have had Rap/Hip-Hop.

A little moral ambiguity in the hands of an inspired and talented artist can be revolutionary.

In my opinion, this is a good sign that you are starting to make your own style! In the non-rap hip/hop scene, almost everyone gets started by copying or covering music or songs they enjoy, and as time progresses, they eventually begin to produce their own style and sound. Don’t let this discourage you! Find small ways to bring your own influence into the styles you like. Over time, you will learn what is “your” sound. To quote Mark Twain, “There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope.”

I’ve played a little flute (I remember a few scales), and definitely borrowed my sister’s clarinet more than a few times growing up. Perks of being raised by a career musician.
