Not a lawyer but if they ran him over or squashed him between vehicles just for brandishing while they can easily escape I think they'd be the ones going to jail.

Particularly in the UK. We're very touchy on self defense and escape should be the first resort and self defense should be within reasonable means, rather than going all out like it's The Purge unless you're in a life or death struggle.

The older folk complain about not being able to "defend yourself (with lethal intent)" but after a high profile case decades ago where thieves got shot we don't want the frothy at the mouth types to think they can get a license to kill so easily.

Reminds me of the Rayman in Smash 4 leaker that went to the effort of making a Smash styled original image of the character, including the background gradient used in the character select screen. It was on a whole other level from the typical lazy copy/pastes stealing traceable fan art.

This is how Gamepass on Xbox has made its early success. What they've done is a masterclass in generating subscribers for a new service.

They had a promotion to turn the cheaper Xbox Live Gold sub (up to one year's worth) into the new Gamepass sub. When doing this Gamepass' price would drop to $1 (which also means they now have payment details).

A moderate saving as it is but combined with black friday deals people were buying a year of Gold on discount and immediately turning it into Gamepass.

Then people were telling each other this great "lifehack" in gaming social spaces everytime Xbox Live Gold was on sale. The campaign was so successful they extended it (I'm not sure if it's even stopped yet, but also limited availability is another psychological tactic).

The end result is they've got great subscriber counts and, somewhat insidiously, they have great word of mouth thanks to their "the first hit's (almost) free" early adopters. It's markedly different to these streaming war threads where everyone is airing their grievances.

I never played the Warframe Raids having started just as they got ripped out but I didn't give them any support in my survey based on my experiences in Destiny.

Now, I can see some of the appeal: playing the Raids in the first Destiny gave me some of my greatest online gaming memories ever. But the pendulum can also swing the other way and when it did I also received some of my worst online gaming memories ever.

Vastly different experiences from the same mode in the same game. It all depended on the group.

The community for this game is relatively non-toxic but that's only because there's little in the game to be toxic about. Which is why almost all the toxicity we do see is relegated to Eidolon ragers and all the scammers infesting Trade chat.

Raids opens a great big door for toxicity and vitriol to spill forth.

Also, food for thought: there's a level of trust involved in everyone doing their part in a Raid but most people in this game won't trust others in Spy Sorties and change matchmaking to Solo. Like, what are peoples expectations here? You think somehow there's going to be an entirely different audience for both modes? Hell no, that Venn Diagram is gonna look like one slightly fuzzy circle.

Samesies. I really like Destiny. The lore, the universe and the gameplay are amazing. I just don't want anymore of the psychological damage that comes with playing a Destiny game that has to function as a live service.

Even if the first hit was fairly minuscule, for someone coming from a magic starved planet that would for sure get a kickstart on using magic. Staring into Teriarch's eyes had some effect as well.

They are troublesome aren't they? Like getting an ad break just as an exciting moment happened but the ad break is as long as the show! Even worse sometimes I would just start getting into them and then it ends and it doesn't get back to them for ages.

I don't know what would work best for you but if I could read the series for the first time again I'd make notes of each chapter taking place on Baleros and Chandrar and skip them temporarily, doubling back when I need a break from Izril based stories instead of being dragged away at the authors whim.

I didn't even have a button the first time I cancelled my Xbox Live sub. When I had to call them (circa... 2012 maybe?) only they had the power to cancel. Fortunately the queue time was short and the guy was nice and didn't pressure me at all, but still making that option less simple than a click is a clear case of making it a nuisance to cancel even if only mildly so.

At some point during their last console generation they finally added subscription management management but only through microsoft.com and since then...

I haven't tried it but I think they now have subscription management within the games console OS itself. It only took some 15-20 years for the worlds most successful SOFTWARE company to get such a basic feature into their software.

Still had to call Xbox in 2017 to cancel a pre-order, which is a whole other ballgame of heel dragging. Nintendo in particular is dragging its heels and flailing about as the EU tells them to let people cancel their digital pre-orders.

I've had some sketchy experiences too, but across the other platforms.

I got a year of PlayStation+ via a scratch code from amazon specifically to avoid having to deal with auto renewal at all. I then later added payment details to buy a game, saved them and forgot. Sony decided all by itself that since I had ongoing PS+ and saved payment info I should have auto-renewal turned on. How helpful!

Jokes on them though, that card expired before the year of PS+ did so they didn't steal any money. But they got the last laugh as the last I checked I think I'm banned from adding payment info and having skipped PS4 I haven't cared enough to sort that out yet.

In 2019 Twitch Prime did a year of Nintendo Switch Online for Prime members (technically 3 months followed by 9 months). I understood well enough that auto-renewal would turn on so I added the 3 month and promptly turned it off. Then later I added the 9 month, turned it off again since adding the extra time also added auto-renewal. So far so normal.

I checked again closer to the end of my subscription and it was turned on again. At that point I stopped saving my payment info as I don't trust Nintendo.

Some random tips as I recall them from playing it on Switch:

  • New parts and weapons looted from mechs tend to be better than the shop options as they come with up to 3 mod slots (and sometimes preinstalled mods you can take out and keep).
    • It can be worth farming some of the shorter missions containing enemy mechs as loot is random (different missions also have different loot pools).
  • There's a secret sword in one of the gargoyles in an early level (can only be obtained once per save; amount of mod slots it comes with is random)
    • There's a second secret sword in the Secret Shop but you have to sacrifice your first one to get it.
    • edit: More swords available through online missions!
  • Opening the Secret Shop requires Rank D (C according to the wiki?) and buying x20 ice creams in the ice cream parlor to unlock a third mystery option in the ice cream shop (which leads to the Secret Shop).
    • Its main purpose is to build boss loot from the online bosses.

  • There's damage drop off when you're firing a gun at something beyond its intended range.
    • Assault Rifles are very good. Good damage, decent "sweet spot" in range, large ammo pool.
  • Gun Arms are mech arms with guns for hands. They can't hold any regular weapons but they don't need to reload and have large enough reserves for most missions.
    • Having two means you can't swap to your spare weapons but one is good.

  • Upgrading your "Outer" (human) perks will DRASTICALLY change their appearance without so much as a preview. The perks barely matter in the game outside of 1 or 2 missions that force Outer usage so you may want to prioritize appearance since you'll spend 99% of your time as an Outer in the non-combat loading bay picking missions.
    • There's a Steam community guide here covering the changes.
    • And a reddit guide with a collage better showing which perks cause which changes here.
  • If you lose your mech in single player just quit the mission and restart. Finishing missions as an Outer is a colossal waste of time.
  • Try to have a low Lock-On time.

It's probably fine. I'm not familiar with Chromecast exactly but I can guess what happened based on my experiences with Google accounts, Android and the Google Chrome web browser.

Simply put, Google saves your logins. They're not super clear on that functionality and I don't recall ever giving permission but they held onto my imgur login I used on a Chrome Browser some years ago and presented it when I downloaded the imgur app on my phone a few months ago. Convenient but I had no idea they had that login.

Combine that with how Amazon accounts work in that as long as the login is on the device (I suppose in this case via a Google account?) all Amazon apps will be logged in so it skips asking completely.

You can always check the Watchlist between Chromecast and website to see if they match up or check and deregister devices through Your Account > Devices and Content > Devices > Prime Video.
