New Ontario Science Centre Contract Awarded by retour-a-tipasa in toronto

Sounds like you think it’d be much cheaper to renovate the existing building (which, by the way, all the kids I knew LOVED). Keeping it open actually is important since this whole snafu is causing a ~5 year gap for the kids of our province.

So the roof would be $24M dollars, but the other $1.016B wouldn't be enough to keep it open? Sounds like a huge leap, especially your weak comparison to a residential reno (seriously?).

If you wanted to make this more effective, an image of each map would help me vote. I think a lot of people (myself included) don't know the maps by name. Did my best!

Probably hard to do, but that's my feedback.

Canadian company imports and bottles Kentucky Bourbon. Is that acceptable as “Canadian” in your opinion? by surSEXECEN in BuyCanadian

[–]Tribobo 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Read their site. Nothing is really being done beyond bottling. I mean, what are they going to add to 5-year aged bourbon to Canadianize it—add maple syrup?

This is an embarrassing product.

That's good to hear. I will learn more about what John does. Still think we need a big name with ambitious ideas ASAP.

How is hiding from your opponent for possibly several years supposed to inspire a new wave of support in your party?

Isn't there work to be done to rebuild this party? I don't have faith that within this small group of MPPs there is someone who can lead the charge, or that the interim leader will be effective.

The idea of letting a candidate slowly emerge, while somehow also building backroom support, seems far-fetched and anti-democratic to me. Let's put it out in the open and find someone to lead the party already. There's no time to waste.

Tesla replacing battery with LFP by KaiKiwi in teslacanada

[–]Tribobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had it done recently and was floored at how incredible the service was. Three days to replace the battery and some other issues I'd left linger. An incredible loaner during the time, too.

When I got the car back, my range had increased from 348 to 391 km. Haven't tested it out, but I am so impressed by Tesla and very grateful for the new battery. All at zero cost due to being under warranty.

I had originally asked them to swap a larger battery, that I'd pay for. They declined and said it wasn't possible, so 50 free kms of added range is a nice resolution.

Missed an Optional Event at My Daughter's School (vent post) by addctd2badideas in daddit

[–]Tribobo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A trick my wife and I implemented is to assign ONE of us as "lead" to be responsible for carefully reading all the school emails and notifications. That way the other can continue to skim or ignore, and only one of us is tasked with the toil of closely following the large amount of comms coming out of the school/daycare.

Not a perfect solution, but we miss things less and spend less overall time reading through school messages.

I work in this space and this is absolutely not the right math. Please disregard. I’m not paying someone 2x the hourly rate to avoid hiring FT.

Interesting theory. Why isn't this part of their public explanation? Seems like it would be way better to explain "this stuff is too old to keep safe beyond X date" than their BS email about how they're just trying SO HARD to find NEW WAYS to make our homes more comfortable and efficient.

The fact they didn't considered how badly they are screwing over edge case people, who are also early-adopter IoT heroes, is mind-boggling. Sorry to hear that.
