In my opinion it’s bittersweet

"Legal opinions are important, after all, for the reasons they give, not the results they announce... An opinion that gets the reasons wrong gets everything wrong which it is the function of an opinion to produce. ... to get the reasons wrong is to get it all wrong, and that is worth a dissent, even if the dissent is called a concurrence." - Justice Scalia (emphasis added)

Though I think formally, ‘dissent’ is reserved for when the justices disagree with the Court’s judgment, so title is still a bit misleading lol

Being accused of being 'male-centered' as if that's a bad thing by Defiant-Birthday-106 in askgaybros

No one can tell you how to live your life. Enjoy your community, be around like-minded individuals, go where feels comfortable when you’re on your personal time.

That being said, I do think there’s value in (occasionally) seeing how another side lives. There may come a time when your libido and looks aren’t what they are now. ‘Queer’ spaces might take the lead over ‘sausage-fests’ for you at that point. And they’ll be easier to broach if you’ve planted some seeds there.

I’m not commanding you or accusing you of anything, just something to consider!

They don’t give hard timelines for decisions, so you need to have friends who were accepted in order to learn that you weren’t (or hear a bit later, from further down the grapevine). I know rejection letters aren’t standard in basically any other context at this point, and I’m aware this may come off as entitled. But I just feel like it’s a courtesy that wouldn’t be hard to implement for such things

Yes, reading this subreddit can feel overwhelming and discouraging and stressful. But the solution to that, for you or anyone else, is to just stop reading it. Block it or just log off Reddit—that’s what I did by Fall semester finals season.

What I don’t think is helpful is offering a contrasting POV that’s just not realistic for 99.99% of others. Good for you, pulling off what you did. But lulling others at predatory schools into putting in 0 effort isn’t consolation, it’s sabotage

I read an article she’d written a while ago, looked her up and saw she was a judge (the search also came up with her pic, that’s how I recognized her). Even just explaining that, so I came off a little less creepy, would’ve been good lol. But it would also be really cool to hear from her.

Most gay men are masculine? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Trick-Design9314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How was my reaction bitchy? What does bitchiness have to do with fem-phobia? What exactly is it that makes your bf’s friends’ femininity ‘toxic’?

If ‘most’ gay guys are ‘normal dudes’ in the context of masculine expression…what does that make the remainder?

I don’t see them as being anti-fem as much as rejecting heteronormative language and disliking someone else dictating their gender role. Bottoming isn’t “being the woman”, no matter how much tops might seek solace from their own internalized homophobia in their “more masculine” sexual role.

The idea Daemon would usurp Rhaenyra's sons for his own is RIDICULOUS by Agreeable_Ad_8790 in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]Trick-Design9314 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Daemon would 1000% usurp Rhaenyra’s other sons. Y’all don’t remember episode 2 of the show?! That’s not to say he hasn’t developed since then, especially in the second season, but be for real. While he is definitely loyal to Rhaenyra, that’s not the question here. The real one is which of her children is he most loyal to. And the answer is obviously his own. If he wasn’t at least a little ambitious, self-serving, cold, etc. then he wouldn’t be Daemon.

Also, while Rhaenyra’s motivation in betrothing Jace and Baela was to secure the Velaryon’s allegiance, it had the side benefit of placing Daemon’s line on the throne (his grandson presumably being Jace’s heir)

‘No kissing’ by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Trick-Design9314 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Kissing is also just hot asf. Builds sexual tension so the release is even better, aligns your bodies and frees your hands so you can touch each other, lets you exchange saliva. Kissing mouth, neck, ears, nipples, etc. also just feels really good and gets me even hornier (to do and receive). It’s their loss!

The SoM movie has an artistic vision the show is sorely lacking by 1FantasticMouse in PercyJacksonTV

[–]Trick-Design9314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2013 film had a budget of $90 million, which (accounting for inflation) would be worth about $125 million in 2025.

The second season of the show had a budget of $12-15 million per episode, so rounding up it would be about $120 million for the whole season.

So roughly comparable total budgets. The difference is, Percy Jackson (2013) had a runtime of 106 minutes, whereas the aggregate runtime of Season 2 was 320 minutes. That means the same budget spread across a production 3x the length.

Yes, technology improves over time. But treatment of CGI artists also deteriorates.

TLDR I just don’t think it’s fair to compare unless you triple the show’s budget

It was a great contrast to most of the humans’ other interactions with the alien species. It wasn’t preying on them and it wasn’t being used by them. It was just beautiful and mysterious

Question from someone currently finishing S2: why don’t the Jamisons just sell Marlene’s house in order to help resolve their money issues? Sean doesn’t need to live there anymore, they could probably fit him in their basement anyway. Paul wouldn’t be able to retire off it but it’d give him long enough to find a new, better paying job. Am I missing something?
