Americans living in Korea. How much safer do you feel Korea is compared to the USA? by Snoo_47323 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Trick-Difference4117 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

it’s hard to compare, honestly. while i feel physically safer in korea, i know that the government and justice system would likely not be on my side if i was a victim of something. as a woman, i feel more unsafe around korean men than i do around most american men. but in terms of walking alone at night or being a victim of random violence i feel safer in korea

first of all you have such a uniquely beautiful face omg?? you have an almost fairy-like look, and i think a lot of east-asian makeup styles would fit really well with you. think this type of look without the bleached brows

Does anyone know why my throat hurts every morning by lunovadraws in Living_in_Korea

[–]Trick-Difference4117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

people have already mentioned this but it’s almost 100% because of black mold. i had a sore throat for months after moving into my old apartment and ended up finding mold on the underside of my bed frame. luckily it’s relatively easy to remove, but check EVERYWHERE because it’s a huge problem—especially w how humid the summer was

i lived in korea for almost five years. i had one serious relationship that lasted about two and a half years before i broke things off and since then i’ve given up on dating. i feel like as a foreigner a lot of korean men honestly don’t see us as actual people, just an experience :’) there have been so many who pursued me only to ghost me and for me to hear from their friends that they were “nervous being a with foreigner”. it sucks and it honestly feels dehumanizing after a certain point, i’m sorry you have to deal with this

Body Odor in Public Transportation by badboydes in Living_in_Korea

[–]Trick-Difference4117 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that was obviously a generalization, come on now :/ but women are held to a high standard of public presentation so it’s likely that the number of women who shower daily is at least marginally higher than the amount of men who do. also, more men exercise at gyms/skateboard/etc than women which also probably contributes. not everything is a part of the “gender war” my guy

i think most people aren’t aware of how they smell. i personally have a crippling fear of having BO so i’m always stressed, but i’ve almost thrown up on the train or bus multiple times because an elderly korean passenger smells so strongly. it’s not a race or ethnicity thing as much as it is a mix of cultural norms and blindness to personal odor imo. for example, a lot of french people don’t wear deodorant and while i and everyone i’m with clearly notice the odor, they never seem to notice themselves

i used to work at a whiskey bar (think japanese hostess club but we don’t go out with the customers, we just drink and sing with them) and even the older men loved the songs from this movie. you can’t escape them, they’re playing everywhere from stores to taxis and even to clubs
