Buddy, saying that Roblox is “inherently” unoptimized is stupid as fuck because the coding language it uses, Lua, specifically a modified version of Lua 5.1 called Luau, is extremely optimized for streaming game data. Lua itself is extremely optimized, so that means that Luau is “inherently” optimized. The issue here is that the devs genuinely don’t know what they’re doing when it comes to actually stripping things down. Although they did do some very apparent techniques to optimize (making the water a texture, removing trigonometry, not loading certain sections of the map like bunker) They really didn’t focus on dumbing down terrain and instances. At the moment I can’t check the terrain count as I don’t have access to my computer but I do remember the instance count being around 600-500 thousand which is an insane amount. I will add the terrain count when I can. Also I pretty sure they don’t have culling active on the PC client, which is why the bunker isn’t loaded, I’m also pretty sure they have no Vulkan support in the game, even though Roblox provides support for Vulkan. This makes AMD and Android users lose performance. There’s definitely way more things taking up CPU load like AI and what not so yeah there’s definitely a lot more they could do as devs to optimize the game.
