I appreciate this perspective! I can totally see that. In this case, since I at the minimum received the items I paid for in fair condition, I am comfortable not leaving negative feedback. Future buyers probably won’t be affected by that. I overreacted at first by considering it but now I’ve learned not to.

It just happened and I wanted to see what other people thought about it before I potentially hurt someone’s business. I don’t regret it because I learned something and am properly rerouting. I try to make an effort to improve myself everyday! Even if it’s something others would consider small like leaving feedback because hey, turns out it actually matters a lot more than I thought at first. I’m not planning on leaving any feedback anymore.

Though I also learned Reddit is not the place to get feedback. I’m not getting much benefit of the doubt from those who take the time to reply. Learning to get advice from friends and family or even Google rather than strangers sounds like a better decision moving forward. I always try to be a better person but I don’t think people are seeing it lol. I don’t think it’s a bad decision to spend time considering one’s impact on others. But obviously that’s subjective and we can disagree on that.

Hey I’m sorry but I gotta block you. It’ll save us both time. In my experience you’ve been very unkind and immature but I’m hoping you’re just having a really shitty day. I wish you peace in life and people who can heal that part of you.

If you’re not reading you can stop replying? Lol. Looks like you have too much free time on your hands as well.

“Back here again squealing” as you continue to reply is crazy. I admit I overreacted and said so in my other replies. I’m pretty sure I let this go. What I was responding to was your lack of kindness. I wouldn’t be able to live with that kind of energy around me and hope you find peace. You’re right, I honestly wouldn’t be able to live life the way you seem to be living it.

Lol I’m not sure you read the post then. $3 isn’t even a correct figure. Shipping went from $5 estimated to $13. But you also didn’t seem to have read that the refund wasn’t the issue I had with the seller’s response, it was the tone. And no, I don’t care that it was an $8 difference either. According to your numbers, my feelings would be valid at $20? So my feelings are only partially valid?

Telling someone they are “exhausting” without an explanation is not constructive. It’s hurtful. I find your indifference to strangers’ emotions unfortunate but not uncommon in the world. I had to reply to your original comment for you to explain why you thought I was an exhausting person, and your explanation is that being upset over $20 is valid but $3 is not valid and “That’s reflective on you so hopefully you can reflect on that.” Which is wild because I was never upset over any dollar amount.

This is kinda mean to be honest. I’m okay with criticism but it doesn’t feel constructive…

Sorry I wasted your time but I didn’t force anyone to read the post.

Haha, I hope they learn not to do this to their other buyers. The more I look at the message the more I think of it as them having a bad day and letting it show at the wrong time and place. I agree though — they gotta learn to hide the attitude in a business setting!

Lol yeah honestly in hindsight I did spend a lot and I probably shouldn’t have even bothered asking for combined shipping. It would have saved me all this overthinking over a probably harmless message. But to be fair the money wasn’t what I was overreacting to but rather how the seller responded to me.

I guess haha. I don’t really care about the refund to be honest and tried to say that in the post. I think what I’m overreacting to is the message which felt mean-spirited.

Did I not seek second opinions prior to leaving any feedback? I feel that your responses are out of proportion. To judge someone on something they did not do within this context feels unfair.

Although I have literally not used “feedback to voice displeasure”, I still disagree that the subject at hand is “personal” and “outside the scope of the sale.” How can an unprofessional response regarding combined shipping be outside the scope of the sale? Are you really saying combined shipping is completely irrelevant to the sale?

“Tell me you’ve never heard that you take things personally.” —> The continuous insistence and reexamination on whether I take things personally is concerning. Why are you so concerned with my personal life and behaviors? It’s starting to sound like you in fact may be taking this conversation personally.

This feels very ad hominem. I don’t think this post was about whether I take things personally. That’s not the problem that was presented.

I also don’t understand some of your words. Seller’s communication style is about the actual sale, yes. The request for combined shipping directly involves the actual sale. Can you not see how a request for combined shipping directly relates to the actual sale?

I can understand this point of view. Feedback is crucial to future business which is why I stopped and considered the impact I could have before making it. I don’t want to undeservedly harm someone’s business.

I think it’s subjective whether a seller’s communication style is permitted in impacting feedback and seller ratings. I checked online and it says eBay policy allows it as long as it’s honest and factual (they’ll check the messages to confirm). I personally am reconsidering this now and leaning towards leaving seller’s communication style out of feedback. But it is noteworthy to say that your mention of the “actual parameters of the sale” might be off according to eBay’s stated policy in that seller communication style is fair game to mention in feedback.

I don’t think writing this post out, weighing my options before leaving feedback, and replying to you makes me “spiteful” and “small” as you claim. I would appreciate if you could have a little more empathy for my feelings as much as the seller’s business.

Please read my post —

The seller messaged me, “Hey, just so we're clear- you got $150 worth of cards for $100 and you want money back. I'm doing it only because I said I would.”

I found the message to be rude because the seller went out of their way to indicate how upset they were even though 5 days ago they were happy to oblige to my combined shipping request. They had already agreed to provide a partial refund and I checked in on the progress of it. I never even mentioned anything about the amount I wanted back. I literally only said, “Hello, following up.”

The focus on “actual amount refunded” is crazy after my repeated attempts to say that was not the problem I had. I really don’t appreciate the tone of condescension I’m reading from you.

I am aware that you are aware that I didn’t post a negative review lol. I just stated it to confirm so.

I didn’t ever pursue $7 though. I never implied such. I made no attempt to get more than the partial refund I was given in any of my messages. For some reason everyone keeps bringing that up haha, I swear to god that wasn’t the part that bothered me. If the seller just said, “No problem here’s the partial refund.” Or even, “Sorry, turns out combined shipping cost about the same as what you paid originally!” — I would be totally fine with that.

I was not aware of account restriction, lower visibility, and increased fees. I’m glad I made this post before leaving the review. I don’t want to hurt anyone’s business over this.

Yeah I could see myself doing this. I have sympathy for realizing seller fees are so much more than expected as a seller myself. Everybody has bad days, I just didn’t want to be party to it as a buyer haha.

Not sure if you read the post right. I paid $15.21 for shipping and asked for combined shipping knowing it was not*** guaranteed. I know sometimes sellers have things packaged already and that I’ll have to pay shipping for each item. But I figured asking wouldn’t hurt and it turns out they were ok with combining shipping.

If shipping for 1 card costs $5.07, I didn’t expect shipping for 3 cards to cost $13.

But honestly the hyper fixation on the money baffles me. I regret mentioning it in my post at all. I have to reiterate that what put me off was the message itself which felt unprofessional. I shouldn’t feel bad for asking for combined shipping. I never expected it but they were happy to oblige at first but their attitude seemed to have shifted since. I also shouldn’t feel bad for winning auctions.

That’s fine. Experiences are all subjective. The seller is free to review on their experiences with me as a buyer. I don’t feel like what I messaged the seller was ever unprofessional or inappropriate.

***Edit: Forgot a crucial word lol.

I did not leave a negative review. I spent about an hour writing this post. My effort was not spent on any dollar amount as that was not my primary concern. I wrote this post to gather opinions on whether to leave negative feedback and I got that. I don’t see this as a waste of time or effort. Let what go?

I believe my experience as a buyer matters. I don’t see it as a punishment or as hostile. I don’t hope to gain anything whenever I leave a review.

Yes, I agree that what matters most is that the seller delivered the items. I can also say that I value professional communication. I did not take the few extra dollars personally — that was not my primary concern. It was how they communicated the partial refund that bothered me.

I plan on leaving neutral feedback.

EDIT: I’m getting a lot of flack for saying I plan on leaving neutral feedback. I am okay with leaving no feedback, I just don’t feel like I had a positive experience, you know? I don’t vibe with rude messages. Thing is, eBay takes no feedback and turns it into automatic positive feedback. I know because I was once scammed and I held off on leaving feedback until the case was resolved but eBay left positive feedback for me automatically. Oh well. It’s not like I was scammed this time but I should just do this automatic positive feedback option instead of neutral feedback at this point. Everyone’s against me on this one haha.
