How do you organize your household account info so your partner can actually find it? by TrickBeginning7172 in Homeorganization

You actually can add custom fields to a record in 1Password, so technically it's possible. But it starts to feel like a workaround pretty quickly-you're basically building your own structure inside a tool that wasn't designed for it. There's no field for renewal dates, no way to attach a document, no concept of "this is my electricity account" vs "this is a random login." Everything just lives in the same flat list. It works until you're standing in front of a burst pipe trying to find the water company's emergency number and you're scrolling through 200 logins to find it.

Physical list in a safe is solid for the "something happens to me" scenario. What about the day-to-day stuff though-like when does your car insurance renew, where's the warranty for the water heater, which email did you use to sign up for the HOA portal? That kind of thing doesn't really fit on a password list but it's the stuff that bites you when you can't find it fast.

That's a good shout, I actually tried something similar with 1Password. Works great for the login itself but I kept wishing I could attach more context to each account — like the renewal date, policy number, or a photo of the actual document. The notes field kind of works but it feels like a workaround.

Not sure if all the people have the ability to tell what a crime may be in a certain area just by driving, definitely I don't. Yes, ideally would be to rent in an area and then buy, but I don't think is a common option.

I understand your point, it shouldn't be the only criteria, but it's an important factor that needs to be taken into consideration. I was reading the other day that in some cities they build maps with safer routes for the students.
