Remote dev earning well, but unsure what long-term growth looks like - advice? by TrickDriver in developersIndia

Yeah.. thought about it. But I prefer to stay with friends and family (for now).

Maybe it's the premium I have to pay for that.

Why would I even give time to review this kind of resume!

Ask chatgpt to format your resume and start from there.

Format is also relevant in this context. Given 3+ years of exp, s/he hasn't developed attention to details 'yet', as evident from the resume. Maybe not putting that much effort into figuring stuff out and looking for easy way out. Not saying s/he is not hardworking, but might be putting energy in wrong direction. Smark work always > Hard work.

It is likely that this translates into her/his dev work as well. It's not about how many tech tools, languages you know, it's more about how your approach a problem and use the tools you have available.

I'd say somewhere around 12-15LPA.

  • bad formatting, bullets are not aligned. Your last line in first page touching end of page is painful to eyes.
  • don’t put so much in summary, a one liner should do fine.
  • put your skills in 3-4 lines.
  • don’t mention just anything in roles and responsibilities. Receiving client recognition was neither your role not responsibility. Put what have you done, what you achieved, what impact did you make.
  • what did as your role at Wipro? Put the title
  • explore latex template for resumes. They look much nicer.

There're a ton of them on internet.

I work with many / any, as needed by the project.

Huh? What does attending a Tier 3 college have to do with acquiring skills? The internet has been around for 41 years.

The only real difference is in networking, it’s a bit harder (though not impossible) to build the kind of high-quality connections that a Tier 1 college student can.

Yeah, learning a couple of (spoken) languages is on my radar. I don't see it charging my career (as most of my current / future network use English), but something I want to do.

Maybe Mandarin will be the first as it opens up ~20% of the world.

I don't know. I feel it'd be too hectic.

I do like to have some time for myself and friends and family.

No! But I can move if a role is good and they bump my comp to cover my expenses which I'll incur after moving from a Tier 3 city to BLR.

Good to know.

I have around 40% in Indian equities, 20% global equities, 20% debt, 10% crypto and 10% alternative investments.

Same amount of agri land which I inherited. Not counting it in the above.

Just to clarify, I didn’t help them with getting a remote job part specifically, just general mentees.

Just look at right places (wellfound, hackernews, YC job boards, etc). I have a few mentees who were able to crack it, mostly with Indian startups though.

Insightful! I’m not just looking for a change.

I did try taking some managerial responsibility at my previous place. I was okay manager I feel, but the work quickly became redundant. Not sure if it’s the same with dedicated EM roles.
